How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Wifi was slow and location it is a little far from Ubud’s centre if that is what you are after.
Great value for money, comfortable room, nice staff, I was allowed earlier check in, quiet property, much more peaceful than being in the middle of Ubud’s centre.

I liked the naturally simple garden setting. It's restful to the mind. There was coffee, water, and daily room cleaning. Goid smell.The manager Ketut is very knowledgeable and helpful. Great to talk with. There is even a communal kitchen and fridge.

Great value for money. It's somewhat naturally simple, yet I like it as it relaxes my mind. The setting is cosy and quiet. I appreciated great talks with the sensible, educated, kind, and very helpful manager, Ketut. Room and bed are cleaned daily and all smells clean. The small kitchen facility is also a bonus. Always coffee and fresh bottled water, and there is a communal fridge.

Location 40 minute walk from centre of Ubud
We had a lovely stay at Astawa house. Location is a bit away from centre of Ubud but we quiet and peaceful. Staff were exceptional, very friendly and helpful and the highlight of the stay. Shared fridge useful. Room small and basic but you get what you pay for. The shower is outdoors but in a really cool, ornate stone setup.

Very lovely staff and not too far from the center of Ubud. Very quiet at night and clean rooms, beds and pillows were very comfortable. Parking your bike off the street near the accommodation is possible, but it's a little hard. If you're comfortable on your bike, you should be ok.

Maintenance could be improved, small things like a broken light bulb and worn-out wooden chairs need more attention.
Hidden gem located just outside central Ubud. It's a peaceful retreat with a beautiful private garden that gives the whole place a calm and relaxing atmosphere perfect for a short getaway. Beautiful private garden, well-kept and full of character, adding to the peaceful charm. Close to central Ubud, not right in the center, but still just a short walk or ride away. Super friendly staff, incredibly kind, helpful, and made the stay feel very welcoming.

Lack of maintenance, not very clean, broken chairs, ichy sheets, strong humidity smell in the bathroom. Also the photos on booking.com don't match the reality.
The place is so calm, so peaceful, feel fresh and a little wild. I love the simplicity, the privacy, the scenery.

The bathroom is outside of back door so the room is quite dark as you need to keep the back door shut to avoid mosquitoes. But outdoor bathroom is quite common in Bali & you get what you paid for.
I stayed for 2 nights when I did a one-week CrossFit training as the CrossFit gym is within 10 mins walk. The guesthouse is in a quiet street and I love walking on this little lane in the morning. Lots of restaurants & shops within 10 mins walk. This area is not that easy to walk around as traffic is very busy, but you can get motorbike taxi to go to all major attractions like the Ubud palace & various yoga centers within 20 mins. Yoga barn is about 25 mins walk.

Loved the outdoor bathroom but all my toiletries got wet during a rainstorm. You don't expect that to happen normally 😅
Nice yoga shala. Not really in use but available for quests so I used it. Cute garden and beautiful outdoor shower

Kitchen could be more clean. The roof is old and natural and something is falling on the food when you cook and no cover for pots. Only big pots are available. Room cleaning is everyday, but sometimes I didn’t get the point of cleaning girls, when they was doing one thing one day and leaving some stuff unattended the other day. Room a little bit dark.
Place is very quiet and cozy. Big garden, old but nice yoga Shaka down on the garden. Rooms are cozy, with AC, private bathroom and outdoor shower. Small yard with table and two chairs. Inside the room also you have kettle, cups and spoons. Room cleaning and water changing everyday. Sound isolation of rooms is good. You have a big closet in the room and little bamboo stair for drying clothes Stuff is very friendly, welcoming and polite. Ketut is the best manager.

You can't close the toilet door all the way, so it is always a little bit open which I don't think is very hygenic.
They clean your room everyday, they make your bed and you get clean towels. The garden is also really pretty and the hot shower is great. Ac is also really nice and you don't hear any traffic which is nice. The employees are so helpful and kind.

Ketut was extremely helpful & friendly & my room was cleaned every day. The location is ideal for Ubud & quiet. I was able to conveniently rent a scooter from Ketut & he arranged my airport transfer, it was all so easy.
