Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe villa hard to locate, the foyer was too small and uninviting, no hand rails at any steps including the pool and poor lighting outside. The day bed was not comfortable as a couch to watch tv, the microwave was not working properly, the cutlery was loose on a plate and unprotected on top of the microwave no drinking glasses (other than coffee mugs), the bedside lamps did not work, low water pressure throughout, the shower was dis functional, the exhaust fan was very noisy/rattly, the sink plug gets stuck and the toilet requires better cleaning.
Cost, the staff and its location.

AustraliaAs noted, I would have loved an Indonesian option for breakfast. The kitchen facilities could have been a little more generous, e.g. there was only a very small frypan. With 2 gas burners, it would have been great to have a saucepan as well, and I think that would make sense. A tea towel would also help, to clean up after making a meal (I made a toasted sandwich in the pan).
Breakfast was excellent, but to be honest, I would have appreciated an Indonesian option, e.g. nasi goreng. Staff were attentive and friendly, without being at all intrusive. I felt very safe. On a practical note, I loved the fact that there was a microwave in the kitchen, which helped me prepare myself a yummy milky coffee treat in the morning. The location is great, within easy walking access to all necessary services.

AustraliaThe breakfast was below average. Only 2 half slices of bread (half cooked toast) with 2 eggs and 1 very tiny portion of bacon plus fruit that was not sweet (4 out of 4 days). Come on guys, breakfast is one of the biggest factors in people choosing a place and coming back. You need to up your game on this one! Atleast give 2 full slices of toast with 2 eggs and a decent portion of bacon plus fruit that is edible. Really disappointing breakfast to be honest. Also, the TV signal was horrendous even after they came to fix it.
Lovely room, big bed, nice pool.

New ZealandExtremely run down rooms. Badly in need of renovation. Paint peeling everywhere. Bathrooms smelt weird. AC did not cool. Fridge was dirty with ice frozen everywhere. The shower pressure is the worst I've ever experienced. You could barely even take a shower. Dirty looking toilets and bathrooms. Strange couch. They don't even provide basic drinking water. The value for money is terrible. Compared to the other places we stayed in Bali for similar price, I would certainly not recommend this place to anyone. Give them their due, the staff were sweet but they couldn't change the terrible experience we had on this property. It was meant to be our romantic getaway to Bali and every other place was great, but this place was the saddest, most run down property I've ever stayed in my life. Totally do not recommend it.
Really sweet staff. Responsive and helpful but couldn't do much to improve the state of the property and room. Decent beds. Speedy wifi

United StatesI stayed in Villa #7. The water pressure in the shower was very low but usable, pretty normal for Bali. The shower drain was kind of backed up. The bed area needs a better ceiling light as it was very dim there. The pool itself is nice and clean. But for some reason, the pool chair cushions are in a really terrible state, covered with what looks like many bloodstains, and it really put me off from using the pool. There is a foreign family with a toddler living long-term in one of the villas, and they have many large plastic toys strewn around the shared hotel grounds, faded and caked with dirt, which is a huge eyesore. Naturally, the child is noisy, but I have sympathy in that regard. I didn't bring all this up to the staff, because they clearly are aware of the situation, and I didnt want to cause friction. But I think that if someone comes here hoping for a romantic or sophisticated getaway, they will be really disappointed. There was also a longish-term guest playing his trumpet in his villa, which I was far away from, but shortly before I left, I heard he had bothered some other guests. Yet, the staff allow it, because he is a longtime repeat guest. I loved the staff, but feel I should be honest in this review, since guests are spending good money on hotels, and this kind of thing could ruin a holiday for some people. All that's necessary, from my pov, is for the staff to lay down basic rules and enforce them. I'd recommend a villa here for someone who wants to stay someplace slightly quirky and homey, that has personality and heart, and maybe make friends with the people around. I wouldn't recommend it for someone who wants a typical tranquil villa experience. In fact, I wouldn't really even look at it as a hotel, since the atmosphere is way too informal for that. Rather, it feels more like a small apartment building.
There were many long-term visitors there, including me (2 months stay), and the place felt more like a home than a hotel. The staff were kind, genuine people I enjoyed being around. The room was always kept super clean by housekeeping. The breakfast, though simple, was a nice comfort I was always happy to wake up to. The property was quiet and had lovely greenery all around.

FranceI would say one little detail - most places we've stayed at had a a water dispenser in the room, with complimentary drinking water. This was not the case at Astana Made, but given how cheap the refill of a gallon of water is in Bali, this would have been a nice touch. We had two small bottles of water on arrival, which is not enough in the tropics, so went to buy a 5 litre jug at a local supermarket. A water dispenser in the rooms would be a nice touch. As others have noted, the breakfast is very basic and good be improved a little, better fruit for instance, but this is not a big priority for us. Otherwise, all good!
Astana Made Villas is located on the other side of the bypass, which for us, is the most enjoyable and convenient place to stay in Sanur as it is more peaceful, more local (less touristy), better food and, for us, more convenient than the other side of the bypass and Sanur's main drag - but please note that Sanur's beach access is on the other side of the bypass from Astana Made Villa, so if going to the beach is a priority in your stay this might not be the best location for you... The room we stayed in was great - really well set thought out, with a proper sitting / living area with a couch, a large comfy bed, small kitchen area with a table (great for eating in) and both a shower with plenty of water pressure (not always the case in Bali) and a bathtub with plenty of hot water (again, this not always the case in Bali...) and even little details like bath foam. There are proper blackout curtains making the room dark enough for a sleep-in in the morning, and the area is quiet. The room was also very clean, and with no mould or bad smells from plumbing, frequently encountered in these parts. Really nice setup, spacious and pleasant to live in. There is a garden with a common pool and more loungers than in most places we've stayed at, and a small sitting area in front of the room. Overall, this is a very nice setup, with really comfortable, well thought out room in what is, for us, our favourite part of Sanur. We will be back!

UzbekistanJust advice to buy and change all towels
First of all it was forced stop at Sanur because of all harbors were closed to go to Nusa Penida. So I had to stay for 1 night in Sanur. I was looking for a room/apartment with middle price just for staying. But I went to 3 places and it was horrible, 0 hygiene, dirty. Then I find this villa on booking and it cost 48$ per night with breakfast. I went there and was so happy that the place was clean, comfort, the bathroom is good, furniture in good shapes, wifi worked well, and I loved the pool. So clean and all hotel area is crystal clean. I spent perfect night there and stuff made especially for me breakfast at 6:40 because I was going to harbor Sanur at 7:00. It was pleasure! Wish you great visitors and high recommendations.
