Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IranOverall, we didn't encounter any negative points during our stay.
After a disappointing experience at another hotel, we found this homestay and were relieved that it exceeded our expectations. In Ubud, it can be challenging to identify good accommodations based on photos, but fortunately, this one was very good. The host was incredibly kind, energetic, helpful, polite, and hospitable. The room was spotless, and both the AC and fan worked perfectly. The bathroom facilities were good, and the bathroom itself was very clean. The room was cozy and offered a lovely view of the garden, and the bed was comfortable. The kitchen was well-equipped, allowing us to cook for ourselves, and free drinking water was provided at all times. The location was good, and the host rented us a good motorbike at a reasonable price, making it easy to explore various places.

United KingdomThe location was slightly off the Main Street which some people may prefer. About a 20-25 minute walk from the middle of Ubud but easy enough to book a GoJek/Grab. Location was a little hard to find if you don’t see the location name on the rock outside which could be easily missed.
The property was so beautiful, very clean and offered a lot of privacy. The family are extremely accommodating and always happy to help.

FinlandNot a problem for me personally, but if you are a really private person, consider the following: it truly is a homestay and you will be walking through Ary and his family's living space (although outside of course) when getting to your room. However, I guarantee you that they are the nicest people and interacting with them will most likely just add to your experience!
The owner, Ary, is absolutely amazing and keen on helping you with every question or request you could have. The place is very quiet and peaceful and you literally feel like you are in the middle of a jungle while there.

GermanyEverything is just a little sidenote, nothing dramatic, that’s why I also didn’t complain about that when I was there: The room was not as bright as I hoped it would be but that was also ok for me in this case. The bathroom could get a little fresh up but I do understand that this is also a bit of a tricky area (a bit open on top + climate in Bali in general). So to maintain that is probably not easy at all. And they don’t serve any breakfast. That wasn’t super clear when I did the booking as there was written one could book that on location. If you need to have that with your apartment it might not be for you but there are also a lot of cafes in a 15-20 min walk. Altogether I still absolutely recommend it and would definitely come back.
The hosts have a great understanding of hospitality. They’re so friendly and are open when it comes to telling you something about Bali and the culture. Also there was a lot of greenery around the house and little spaces to chill outdoors which I really really liked. The room is quite spacious and they really take care of it during the stay. Also the area outdoors is maintained in a very good way. Water for free is also a huge plus. The area around the house has much more of a village feeling which is quite nice. It’s not as hectic as the centre of Ubud but the center and also the yoga barn are in walking distance.

AustraliaHot water from the shower would've been nice. To be fair, perhaps it wasn't working while we were there, I never mentioned it to Ary. The weather was hot enough that it didn't worry us too much.
Ary is a super lovely guy and always willing to help or share information about things to do around Ubud without pushing any agenda. It was also really easy to rent a scooter from him. There's a water bottle refilling station which was great to help reduce plastic waste and save on a bit of cash. Architecturally, the rooms were quite beautiful and the outside bathroom was nice (No hot water though) The grounds were really lush and you could often find Ary or his family tending to the Garden. The morning visits from the house cat were a nice way to start the day.

United StatesLike most places around - just be ready for mosquitos / lizards / etc, in the bathroom / bedroom. Luckily, Ary gave me some mosquito coils which were helpful. Note, if you’re staying here, I’d advise like most neighborhoods in Bali to use a Grab scooter to get back home as there are stray dogs wandering the streets at night.
Ary is an amazing host! Location is great - close to the main streets of Hanuman road + monkey forest road. Air conditioning is great, along with the green forest vibes! Ary and I set up a full day of travels on a Sunday, followed by a few other trips to Batur / water temple!

ChinaThere may not provide hot water service at midnight? Or maybe it's just I have my bath too late.
Honestly speaking the landlord is really kind and warm-hearted. He has a good spoken English and we have no problem communicating with him. If you are confused where to go travelling or have meals in Ubud, I promise that he would give you appropriate choices. They feed some dogs in their house and they are quite docile most time.

AustraliaThey could improve the cleanliness of the kitchen/dining area and bathroom. There were signs of mould and mildew in some places.
The family was super welcoming and kind. In particular Ary went out of his way to help us with all aspects of our trip, including good prices for tours, and providing local intel. We were even welcomed by the family to join them for one of their holy festivals. They dressed us in traditional clothes, and brought us along to their temples. They taught us some of the local Balinese language, and we laughed together. The breakfasts were also great, local cuisine. Lastly, it was fantastic to have air-conditioning for a better night's sleep!

FranceWe have nothing to complain about and we know that is was very important for Ary that we would feel as comfortable as possible
We stayed 5 nights at Ary House, and the best part of it is definitely Ary himself, he was very welcoming and helpful with anything we could need. He even guided us through some touristic attractions and was always happy to answer our many questions. We even had the opportunity to celebrate a family celebration with him. In general a very nice stay that I would recommend.

NetherlandsThe owner seemed really friendly at first however on one of our free days he advised us to go do the ATV, he even offered to take us for cheap there and back (ended up being more than if we took taxis). He took us to a location which ended up charging us more than double the normal rate for ATV rides as well as pushed us to go to go to a coffee and tea place with priced up items. In addition, the bathroom had mold everywhere and the bedsheets had multiple stains on them.

IndonesiaUnfortunately, bathroom and kitchen were very dirty. Bathroom had a mold growing out of the wall, you could smell the wet moldy air which wasn't comfortable. All other reviews say otherwise, so maybe all other rooms are fine and we were unlucky. Also, the soundproofing is quite bad, you could hear other guests conversations even with doors and windows closed. Something to keep in mind if you care about privacy. I honestly don't think this room should be rented out, but we were rushing with other plans and only there for 2 nights, so pushed through.
Host was very friendly. Room had a lot of natural light. Place is located in a less busy area of Ubud in the back of the compound, so it's quite quiet. Nice garden.
