Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyThe bathrooms are large enough but have no hot water and, what's most important, no toilet paper or a bum hose... Thankfully I had some paper! Here's also only a fan that may not be enough if it's a very hot time but we stayed when it was cool.
Perfect budget guesthouse with simple and clean rooms and lovely mini verandas in a traditional courtyard. It's central and yet quiet at night, beds are fine and the included breakfast a nice plus.

NetherlandsIt was quite noisy because of the people next to us. However the staff said something about it at around 12 o clock. So that was handled perfectly.
The location was very good. For the price you get a comfortable stay and a decent breakfast. We also booked the Mt. Batur hiking experience through the accommodation this was perfect. We were on time back in the morning to get the breakfast.

AustraliaThere are no cars allowed down the laneway so there is a short walk (maybe 300m). This was tricky for us with two small kids and our luggage but we managed it ok. There was no hot water in our room and no air conditioning but the high ceiling meant the room was not hot and the cold water was welcome after walking through the city.
The location is amazing, you are right in the action with markets at the end of the laneway and monkey forest in walking distance. Despite being in the middle of the city the property was very quiet with no street noise at all.

The host was very helpful. Ubud Homestay is in an excellent location, right near all the main attractions. We didn’t have hot water, which was a bit of a drawback, but aside from that, we had a good stay. The breakfast was very good.

RomaniaEverything was OK. I hope I will come back again. Thank you, dear friends!
My second stay at Arjuna Homestay (the first one was in 2015). The same big (two beds, big window, fan) room with bathroom (only cold water, but OK) and big balcony. The house has its own Hindu temple. Light breakfast (fruit salad, eggs, coffee/tea). Very good location close to Jalan Monkey Forest, the two local markets and the rice fields. Easy to arrive by bus from Denpasar Airport (K6 from DPS to Central Parkir Kuta plus K5 from Central Parkir Kuta to Titi Banda plus K4 from Titi Banda to Ubud). Or, opposite way, K4/K5/K6 to go from Ubud to DPS. Three hours but only three times 4400 IDR (0, 80 USD/EUR). Or you can take a taxi which takes two hours (because the traffic is the same) and cost you 30 times more than the bus. Nice people (Wayan and his lovely family).

IndiaIt's a bit basic stay. Only expect basic amenities. But considering the location and amount, it's really great.
The location is great. Just outside is the shopping street. Monkey forest, Ubud palace, Saraswati temple are all walkable distances. You can get different options for day tour/activities from the stay itself. Many posters are pasted there. Breakfast is available. Lovely owners. They even allowed my son to play with their kids toys for a while. Completely worth the money.

ItalyThe room was clean but the pillows of the bench in the terrace smelled of urine. The homestay can organize tours in Bali, but only for minimum two people. If you are a solo traveller do not rely on them for visiting Bali.
The homestay is close to the center but in a quiet road. The host and his family are nice. The room and the bathroom are very simple and with enough space.

CanadaJust a note... If you require transportation from Dempasar airport to Ubud , the homestead will be able to arrange it for you. Please make sure you confirm your service with the homestead.
Just simplicity of the room. A bed a bathroom with a shower. Just bring your towel toilet paper and body soap. You will be confortable. The room also has a ceiling ventilator. The price was very reasonable and you get a breakfast. Every day. I had a great view from my room. I will return again if I return to Ubud.

KenyaThese are not really bad things but things I think would make the property better. I understand somethings may not change. For instance, it would be best if the rooms had windows that would open so that there would be air circulation. Sometimes the rooms would get a bit stuffy with all the heat. The rooms have fans and not AC- but you know this before you booked. The fan may seem insufficient at first but it is actually quite effective. At night you don’t feel the heat (even if the fan is slow) and this was okay for us. The rooms also have only one electricity socket which can be difficult if you both need to charge your electronics at night. This can be remedied if the property would provide the multiple socket plug to be attached to the one socket. The rooms have no hot shower- but this was not a problem since the place is already hot. The breakfast was also a bit underwhelming on most days. I would suggest a review of the breakfast menu, or a dollar or two increase in the property price and then provision for a better breakfast option.
The location is perfect. It is right at the center of everything. 3 minutes walk from Monkey Street. It is right next to the Art Market. The rooms were spacious and simple- not too luxurious. Just enough and functional for the price. The family was really kind and helpful and responsive. They were available to check us in at midnight when we arrived. I would definitely go back here.
