Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceSuch a charming place! Perfect for resting and reconnecting with yourself. The staff was absolutely lovely, and caring !! They made my stay truly enjoyable The food was delicious and healthy. I requested vegetarian options, and my request was fully respected. And the doggies bring so much joy! They’re all so sweet, especially Thor, who greets you every day with a little gift (either a leaf or a stone 😌) I truly enjoyed my stay at Anima.

Hong KongThere's nothing not to like, as we had a great Balinese cultural experience.
The luxurious amenities, all-inclusive meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), and the location in a less touristy area are what grabbed our attention to the hotel. We loved everything! I highly recommend Anima Retreat for its luxurious independent suite rooms, Balinese cuisine, friendly staff, serene atmosphere, excellent customer service, and the four cute resident dogs. A big thumbs up!

Such a magical, secluded setting. Our villa was beautifully crafted with good facilities and the staff were wonderful, always available to help. It was our first all inclusive experience and it was perfect, the food was delicious and we loved the surprise of every meal. The portions were also very generous. We fell in love with the location and wished we had more time to explore. The messages were very enjoyable. We will definitely come back to stay at Anima Retreat!

United KingdomLocation is remote compared to key areas of interest on the island. However, you are able to rent a scooter or take taxis to go visit areas if you wish to do so. Most roads are built for scooters. The all inclusive aspect doesn’t cover drinks outside of tea/coffee & water or snacks. You can go to the local shop to source these instead. Indonesia is a very cheap place. If you stay here, it’s worth the upgrade to one of the white brick villas.
The team that work here go out of their way to look after you. There are 4 friendly dogs that live on premises that are well behaved and are no issue in pestering if you want some peace and quiet. The main pool is very beautiful with some villas having their own one too. Brilliant location to have a retreat and truly relax if this is what you desire. Location and nearby rural areas are very beautiful and would recommend hiring a scooter to explore and take it all in.

United KingdomWe chose Anima Retreat Bali as the end of our adventure in Bali. We wanted something different, a little wild and to isolate ourselves from the whole world. And Anima gave us everything we needed.. a gorgeous oasis in the middle of the jungle. Beautiful, well-kept garden, greenery, bungalows located here and there in a refined style, a large pool with a wonderful view. The staff is caring and kind, they welcomed us warmly and throughout our stay they created comfort for us and at the same time provided us with the feeling of solitude that we wanted. The hotel is also home to four dogs, which we were a little worried about, but they turned out to be gentle, friendly and slightly curious. The food was typically traditional, prepared on the spot, while at the same time they took into account and slightly changed according to our taste preferences. Our room was refined, with a terrace amidst lush greenery, with an outdoor bathroom where you can take a shower under the stars, extremely clean! A place where you can connect with yourself and nature or just enjoy solitude and relaxation. The stone massage is unique, melting and recharging. The village near the hotel is beautiful and peaceful. We highly recommend it for people who want to relax in nature and love pets.

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by the warm hospitality of the entire team. We especially want to highlight Gaia, who took care of us like we were friends. Not only did she impress us with her friendly demeanor, but she also provided us with fantastic excursion tips that made our stay even more memorable. The accommodation itself is a true paradise. Our room was stylishly decorated and offered breathtaking views of the surrounding nature. The attention to detail is evident everywhere, and we enjoyed every minute in this beautiful space. The pool area is simply stunning! We spent many relaxing hours by the pool, surrounded by lush Balinese vegetation – the perfect place to unwind. The wellness offerings are an absolute highlight! The massages and treatments are of the highest quality and left us both deeply relaxed. We also participated in several yoga classes led by experienced instructors – a perfect way to align body and mind. The culinary experiences at Anima Retreat are also remarkable. United StatesI liked that the food was local Indonesian food but it would be great if they balance it with some healthier options with more fruits or vegetables or salad on the side instead of always fried or stir fried.
The place was very peaceful. We really enjoyed our stay without distraction and away from all the traffic in Bali. We really liked that there's a common dinning table and we got to meet other guests and travelers in the resort. Gaia was the one managing the property and she was very nice and attentive. We liked that the food is different everyday and that they serve fresh local food. The resort is well maintained and we would definitely go back if we decide to have a quiet stay in Bali.

AustraliaAbsolutely loved my stay at Anima Retreat. The description of the villa & photos are very accurate, even better once you arrive and feel the whole sense of the area. Gaia is such a lovely host, so welcoming and so helpful to any questions or activities you wish to do. She helps to organise anything you may require. The whole experience was so personal, the staff are so warm and you feel so taken care of. It's the perfect place to enjoy peace and zen from our busy lives and any problems. Breakfast, lunch & dinner are so wonderfully made each day fresh, its also nice to all dine together with the fellow guests and share stories together. The additional activities you can choose to do are so great, the hot stone massage was incredible and I was able to participate in the Ayurvedic healing, fire purification ceremony and introduction to meditation class. All so incredible and perfect for the rejuvenation trip I was on. Would love to come back again!

New ZealandNothing - we loved everything about Anima.
The property is exactly as described: an idyllic paradise in a quiet Balinese village. The staff are wonderful: so welcoming and friendly. The main host Gaia went out of her way to help make our Bali experience wonderful, including booking day trips and helping us with taking a scooter to the nearby beach. Thank you Gaia for taking such great care of us ❤️ Our room was beautiful, bed very comfortable with lovely sheets, and facilities tasteful, clean and serene. The housekeeping team helped us out with laundry. The property itself is stunning - lush and tropical and very well maintained. The meals are delicious and daily menu well thought out. The chefs are highly skilled and it is so lovely dining in the big open lounge area. We also enjoyed the coffees and coconuts by the pool. I also had a deep tissue massage which was fantastic. We wish we could have stayed for twice as long!

The breakfast was made fresh every day with local ingredients – it was very nice. Anima Retreat Bali is in a quiet location in the heart of a local community.
