How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewVery comfortable stay and chill for my 2 days here. Staff is very friendly and always with big smile. This place is nearby turtle beach, good for people that like to Snorkeling. It have some distance from harbour if you use walk. But it will good if you are with bicycle. Recommended this place!

The bathrooms are slightly dated, but the property is still excellent value for money.

Verified reviewVery friendly staff. They upgraded our room free if charge. Clean, large and comfortable room/bathroom. Near the beach. Delicious breakfast. Gili Air is excellent location for different activities. On Fridays there is "trash pick up" activity on beaches.

Stealing money If you don’t want to be robbed don’t go there. On the second day of our stay we found out that someone stole money from us while we were staying there. I will describe whole situation. So when we arrived to gili air we had our wallets with us 24/7 i had it in fanny pack and my girlfriend in her bag . When our rooms were ready we unpacked our luggage and put our wallet with credit cards to our backpacks (into inside pockets). We had there credit cards , id cards, cash €. On island my girlfriend had purse with other wallet where we had IDR cash. So we didn’t need to carry our original wallets we had them safe inside our locked room. Well we thought it was safe :)))) On our second day there we were on the beach and in the evening we went out for dinner . We spent 80% time out of the room. When we came back from dinner . I went to take my pills which i had in the inside pocket of my backpack with my wallet. When I opened it i saw something strange with my wallet I always put my cash in the middle part now they were in the side part and they were wrinkled like someone was in hurry putting them back. Immediately I took the cash out and i found out 20€ was missing ( i had there 50€ total) i am 100% sure that 20€ was gone so my girlfriend immediately checked her wallet (which was in the inside pocket of her backpack) and also she had her wallet totally empty (she had there only 20€ ) !! We checked our other stuff like airpods which by tha way i had in the same pocket as my wallet, apple watch, ipad , passports everything was therre untouched . Only cash was missing. We had cash hidden also elsewhere so 20€ each wasn’t that bad but we were truly disgusted by that someone went through our staff when we were away. And no we didn’t have cash put on some visible place. So there we were in this situation and we didn’t know what to do. should we tell them next morning? How are we going to prove that it’s word against word. There’s no police on the island.
Hello, you should have told us when this happened because we are very, very disappointed to hear this. we are 1 of the first places in Gili Air and this has never happened before. As a local from here i dont accept this kind of behavior at my B&B. We are trully sorry this happened to you and we have fired the person that cleaned your room that day! Thank you for letting us know. Again we are sorry for this and ofcourse i would not want this to happen again.

I didn’t appreciate showering with saltwater especially after a long day at the beach when you just wanna wash the salt on your skin away.

Just to clarify, our water isn’t pure saltwater, but like most places on this small tropical island, it’s a mix of slightly salty and fresh. Bringing fresh water from Lombok means running pipes through the ocean and coral reefs, which can damage the reef—especially during rough weather. Since we care deeply about preserving the natural beauty of Gili Air, we choose to keep things more traditional and authentic to give you that true island experience while also protecting our environment. Although not in the hotels control, the road leading to the hotel passes through local houses and can be dark in the night but let that not scare you it is perfectly safe and easy to walk.

Verified reviewComfortable stand alone bungalow with large balcony and beautiful garden,. Great breakfast and very helpful staff., easy walk to good snorkeling and heaps great eating spots near.. I like the location as tucked away but bring torch or phone when out at night. No fridge in room but can leave stuff at reception
While not the fault of Ananda there is new construction going on right behind. This is common across the island and was closest to my bungalow (no 7). They work 8 to 12 2 to 5 so if you out most of day not an issue.
