Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

BelgiumI call Agus Hidden Homestay the hidden gem of Java. The location is good. The house was definitely all good; We had the whole house for ourselves. The house is big (super) clean and comfortable. The difference is made by Agus and his wife. After a Home made breakfast, Agus toke us to discover his village, his community. That was a very special moment for us ( me& my 2 daughters). I was blown away by his kindness towards us. Blown away by the way he represents his community. I am happy and grateful that we had the chance to experience this.

Agus is such a lovely host and we loved getting to know him. On the first day we got there he took us for a picnic in his flower field with his neighbour’s that was so nice! He also organised the Ijen tour for us and this is a great base if you wish to do the same! Agus’s wife makes you breakfast in the morning too which was very tasty! The village is a lovely community and there is an amazing coffee place just round the corner where I think I had the best coffee I’ve ever had there (Kunci Kuppi Coffee & Bakehouse)! Would highly recommend this homestay for an authentic Indonesia experience with great hosts and good conversations!

ItalyEverything was good, even if the water went off for a couple of hours, then they fixed the problem and was on again!
What can we say about Agus’ homestay? We really recommend it to everybody: Agus and his family will welcome you as part of the community. Breakfast prepared by Agus’ wife was delicious: we’re a vegan couple and they didn’t hesitate to give us traditional food, but in the vegan version. Agus brought us around the village, showing real batik art and factory, explaining how the life in a small village works. You can have interesting conversations with him and enrich your point of view about many aspects. Here it’s possible to rent a motorcycle and arrange for some tours at a reasonable price. If you love staying in quiet and peaceful places, this is the right place for you!

GermanyStaying at Agus’ homestay was the highlight of my travels through Indonesia! Nestled in a charming village, this homestay is the perfect base for exploring the surrounding area. From hiking and biking through picturesque rice fields to visiting stunning waterfalls, there's so much to do. The homestay is spacious and pleasant, offering plenty of room and comfort for guests. Agus himself is an exceptional host. He organized a great tour to Ijen for me and shared many excellent recommendations for local activities and sights. His guidance and hospitality provided a much more authentic experience of the region than one can get elsewhere. Hope to visit again soon!

Germanythis was the best experience I ever had when choosing a Homestay accommodation! this was like a real home. Agus is the perfect Host. of course we went to see Ijen but I ask him that I want to see something more quite as well so he took us through his village, we met a lot of people and learned some things about the culture. even before we could mention we were hungry he found some snacks for us. the surrounding was very secluded, so we needed to hop on a scooter, I recommend some driving skills if you want to explore something in the area, but most of the places can be reached by food. Agus has lots of interesting storys to tell, a lovely family and a great place to stay. we would always come back here!

Singapore• Nothing much. Only a large spider size larger than my hand in homestay freaked me out on my first night. But got used to it knowing that its harmless. 😅
• Agus and family are exceptionally very welcoming and friendly. • He brought me around; meeting the well-mannered Osing tribe villagers. • Osing Tribe eagerly preserving their ancestor's elaborate tradition and rituals. • He took me to various plantations (coffee, rubber etc) and even introduced me to a coffee plantation owner. • He invited me to a thankgiving ceremony whereby I managed i to chit chat with villagers around. • The village is clean and progressive.

CanadaEverything was perfect! (Except the prayer at 4 am in the morning- you have to know that you are in a Muslim country, in every village there is a mosque)
Agus was really helpful, he showed us his village. We saw a Batik factory, rice fields, rubber trees and coffee plantations, waterfalls, and the famous Kawah Ijen. We felt at home. We taste to really good food. It was a truly authentic experience. We extended our stay to 4 nights.
