How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThis place was awesome. Stunning view. Lovely room and a real peace of tranquility. The family who run it were absolutely lovely too. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice peaceful getaway and to support a genuine Balinese family instead of the large hotels.
I have nothing bad to say. Some people may find the path there tough, but it's a nice walk in nature...you can make it on a scooter, a car has to park maybe 200m away.

Verified reviewI loved the location with stunning views and a short walk from the restaurants in town. The hosts were so kind and accommodating with good suggestions. A lovely spacious room. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
The only negative was the mattress was too firm for me unfortunately.

Verified reviewFriendly staff speaking English well, super clean room, best view you can have from the terrace and room, mosquito net, good breakfast and juice options. Kettle, tea and coffee in the room.
ROOM ~~ The bathroom is not optimal especially when it's raining; you get wet sitting on the toilet or in front of the sink (half open at the shower). A lot of insects coming into the room because of an open roof. Strange smell when lying on the bed, not sure where it came from. The pillows (still, as I read in another review afair) need to be replaced. Some strange smell can come from outside, too. No AC but I didn't need it STAFF ~~ I was slightly irritated twice when I didn't get what I explicitly ordered. LOCATION ~~ 7-8 minutes away from the road, the way is only half-lit.

Verified reviewI loved the view, the sense of being in nature, the long beautiful walk to get there, and the price.
No a/c - but I knew this going in. Luckily the temperature was not hot at all and the fan was sufficient.

Verified reviewBeautiful views for breakfast and an incredibly comfortable room! The staff are so so nice and accommodating, genuinely one of the best experiences I’ve had in Bali yet! The room and the bathroom are cozy and good for a small or long stay!
Location is a little difficult to get to but that’s not an issue when you see the view overlooking the mountains and the rice fields. It’s breathtaking!

Verified reviewAbian View House was so lovely! It was one of the highlights of our Bali trip and we wished we stayed much longer. It looks exactly like the pictures with the most stunning view. The family you stay with are very very kind and are happy to organise anything you need. Breakfast was very good and filling with a beautiful seating area to look out over the rice paddies. The bed is massive and extremely comfortable, and my favourite part was the semi open shower. The people in the village are so friendly and happy to help. It’s great to see everyday village life, within walking distance of silver making classes, the morning market, and restaurants, and very affordable places to rent scooters nearby.
Do be aware that there is a walk to get to the property from the road. I loved the walk through the jungle each day, staff will help by taking your bags with a scooter so you just have to worry about yourself, but it may not be accessible for everyone.

Verified reviewWe stayed 5 few days at Abian View, and it couldn't have been better. It is truly a hidden gem and one of the most beautiful places we have ever visited and was the best accommodation we had in Bali so far. We even wanted to extend our stay, but unfortunately, it was already booked. Everything about this place is amazing, and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet retreat surrounded by lush nature. The views are stunning, the hosts are so warm and welcoming and the breakfast on the front terrace is delicious. The room is spacious, very, very clean and nicely furnished. Small Fridge, water kettle for coffe or tea - all there :) The bed was incredibly comfortable, that gave us the best sleep we’ve had in a long time. The price and what you get is just unbeatable. We fully agree with all the positive reviews from previous guests!

Verified reviewWhat an incredible home stay! Breathtaking views, and the room/little house is very luxe and spacious. Lovely breakfast each morning out on a veranda with views of rice fields and mount agung. I came here alone and had a lovely 3 days relaxing, soaking up the views and doing some local activities such as a cooking class and ring making. There’s plenty of warungs with family style cooking. I just walked around the village, but you can easily rent a scooter and explore the nearby area of waterfalls and temples. Kadek and putuh are lovely hosts, gave me a lot of space but helped me organise transport when needed.
Nothing!

Verified reviewThis homestay is in a beautiful quiet location in the forest overlooking the rice terraces, you couldn’t ask for a better view to wake up to! The room is huge and cool, and the bed has mosquito nets. The hosts are warm and welcoming, they will even pick up your luggage for you. Everything was clean and I loved the thoughtful extras like a welcome juice and free mineral water in the room.
Not easy to access- As it is in a secluded location in the forest, you will be walking about 650m along a small track to get to the home stay. A little out of the main area but worth it for the quiet and the view. The owners are very helpful and will take your luggage to the homestay with their scooter so you only need walk.

Verified reviewWe stayed only two nights there but it was incredible. Really peaceful place with the rice fields terrace view. The room and bathroom were very big and clean. The breakfast was very good. The owners are very friendly and helpful.
The access is a bit complicated but still ok with motorbike. And when you arrive the owner will come to pick up your bags to make it easy.

Verified reviewLook no further for your accommodation for Sideman. The room and bathroom were exceptionally clean, we stayed for two nights and it was cleaned once during our stay. The view from the house/garden was incredible, the pictures do not do it justice. So peaceful here surrounded by nature and still very close to everything you need in Sideman. The host Kadek and his Wife were amazing. Kadek’s wife made a great breakfast for us with lots of options to choose from. Kadek gave us a ride to the harbour at very late notice and even provided a packed breakfast that we could take with us. Thank you both so much, we had an amazing stay in Sideman.
We wish we stayed here longer!!
