Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Our stay at Abian house was extremely enjoyable. The host is the most hospitable and polite man we have ever met. He gave us water every morning and the most delicious breakfasts. We wanted to do a manta trip, he organised it no problem and drove with us half an hour to show us exactly where to go. Our bed was super comfy and room was clean. He also always asked for permission before cleaning our room which we really liked. Thank you for everything!!

The owners were amazing, set us up with a very reasonably priced bike while we were there, and a boat trip at a very reduced price. He even offered to move our rooms further away from the chickens as we were there 4 nights. Breakfast was filling and tasty. Wi-Fi worked well. And the facilities were amazing value for money. Close to lots of Warungs and a short bike ride into the busier town area. Perfect location!

NetherlandsThe location is next to the busy main road around the island, but you couldn't hear much from the road while indoors so that was nice. We also didn't feel entirely comfortable with the open window in the bathroom. It was nice for circulation and fresh air, but there is a building with a balcony behind the houses and from some angles you could imagine that someone could see inside. The shower and toilet were out of sight though and we didn't see anyone, but it didn't feel very comfortable. But these are just two small things that didn't spoil our stay at the Abian House!
We've had a very clean room and also a very friendly host. Latra helps you with everything and has some good tips about locations like restaurants and beaches. He even took us to the ferry on our day of checking out for free. It is possible to hire a bike for a very good price (we paid 60k a day). Latra runs the place together with his family. His wife cooks amazing breakfast! We could choose out of 5 options every day and with the eggs or pancake you got fruit and coffee/tea. The breakfast was very tasty and a good portion. Although the location isn't near most of the sightseeing points, it is near the harbour and near some very good (and cheap compared to the busy areas) restaurants. There are also loads of supermarkets around. It took us around 45 minutes to get to popular viewpoints, but we liked the fact that we stayed in a quieter area. The room is big with enough space to store your belongings. There was also a water boiler with some tea and coffee. When we arrived we were welcomed with a refreshing welcoming drink and a bottle of water. Outside the room was a small veranda with two chairs, a little table and a drying rack for clothes. The room is cleaned once every two days.

ThailandThe wall is quite thin, so you can here your next door but that’s pretty minor.
The location of the property is at the end of commercial street where you can find a lot of shops and restaurants. The room’s space is big with the high ceiling. It’s clean and comfy. The host is the best, his family is very enthusiastic to welcoming the guests. He arranged the motorbikes and the drop off for us. We had great impressions of the host’s hospitality.

IndonesiaUnfortunately, the location was much further from the harbour than I expected. It was also quite far from the main area of restaurants and cafés and the dive centres. It was also not close to the sites in the south. I enjoyed staying at Abian House, but I changed after a couple nights because it was just too far to drive to the main area of restaurants, and to the sites, etc. I also found the communication VERY DIFFICULT at first because unfortunately when you write to ask questions before you get there, it is not Latra who you are communicating with. Some woman in Bali is responsible for answering you and she is terrible! Latra would probably answer you within 2 minutes, but I didn't get answers from the woman in Bali for many hours, and when she finally answered, it was just a few words, which was VERY FRUSTRATING! I highly recommend that they change this because I almost cancelled my reservation when I didn't get an answer from them about my arrival. If we could communicate with Latra from the beginning, it would be MUCH BETTER. Latra is very attentive. Finally, I would prefer to have a fan in my room as I don't use A/C. It also wasn't hot enough for A/C. Unfortunately, there was no fan and no way to move the air because you can't open a window. The only window was the sliding glass door which is the main entrance and this needs to be closed at night. (This is a pretty common situation in Indonesia, unfortunately.) A ceiling fan, or even a standing fan would be a great option.
Latra, the host, is very, very nice and tried very hard to help in every way possible. He and his family are lovely and kind, and Latra seemed to worry about my safety. He told me when he thought my scooter wasn't safe, which I really appreciated. He also offered suggestions about where to go and what to see. I think maybe he was a little surprised to see a woman my age traveling alone because he seemed to want to help me a lot! 😄 But it was very nice that he was so worried. Thank you Latra. 🙏🏽🙏🏾🙏🏿 The room was very big and the bed was very comfortable. The room was clean. The washroom and shower were good.

SpainBest place I stayed in Nusa Penida. The family were extremely kind and welcoming. The garden was so clean and quiet. The room spotless and comfortable. I was so happy I found them after a bad experience in another hotel. They even invited a friend of mine for breakfast even if she was not staying at the hotel. So so nice!! I'm extremely grateful.

They really went above and beyond and when we had to transfer to a new hotel, even offered for us to come back for breakfast the next day! Everything was so clean and nothing was too much. They helped us book a driver so we could see the island and made sure we were completely looked after. I couldn’t recommend this enough! The friendliest place we’ve stayed on our travels.

BrazilThe host/owner was just so wonderful! Very attentive and caring, and he found a more affordable driver for me to travel the island, as I was solo. The room was quite comfortable and you could find all you needed (restaurants, groceries, etc) around the hotel. The best part is that the owner is a native of the island, so by staying here you are helping someone who is actually part of the local community :)

Absolutelt fantastic place to stay. The owners are super nice and will do whatever they can to make your stay as nice as possible. On top of the great service, they really try to help you with your stay on the island by telling you about the good spots to snorkel, hike, eat and so on. Rooms were spacious and clean. AC worked perfect. Bathroom was clean and hot water worked perfectly. Beds were super comfortable. We rented a scooter from the owner for 5 days for decent price. There are plently of supermarkets and restaurants in the area and you can reach crystal bay in 40 minutes by scooter.

10/10 We had a lovely stay at Abian House, really kind & welcoming family that go the extra mile to make sure you enjoy your stay on Nusa Penida. Around 25mins from Bajur Nyuh Pier but only 10 to Buyuk Harbour which you can take the boat to Gili Islands. Room is very clean with hot shower & breakfast was cooked for us every morning when we woke up.. you can choose what you’d like from a selection too. We were able to rent a good bike from Abian House too which was so helpful (you 100% need if coming to Nusa Penida) They also very kindly rode us to Buyuk Harbour with all of our bags when we were leaving. Highly recommend!!

KazakhstanI would like to express my great gratitude to the host of the guesthouse. For 2 years of my travels I have not seen a kinder and more responsive person. On one of the days on the island was a holiday, because of this many restaurants were not working, we were left hungry, but the host fed us a free lunch, it was very nice. Also at the end of our travels we could not withdraw money in the bancomante on the island, and we had no money to call a cab to the port, but the owner of the hotel and here helped us, took our luggage to the port for free. Highly recommend this hotel, very convenient location. If I could, I would give it 100 points in the bookings.

A very welcoming, familiar, super comfortable and clean place to stay. We were received and surprised by the kindness of this family who does everything to serve well. From the scooter rental, tips on the sights of the island, to our boarding in Porto. Perfect! In addition, we found Catappa, a local restaurant facing the sea, just 3 minutes walk from the hotel with good food and great value for money (in addition to accepting card and also money exchange) which made our stay much more convenient.
