Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomYou have to contact the hotel in advance to let them know what time you will be arriving. Otherwise there will be no-one at Reception.
Breakfast was quite good. The café next door to the hotel where breakfast is usually served is closed on Sundays. We had to drive to the other side of town ( about a mile's walk) and wait until 9am for the alternative café to open. The hotel is within walking distance of the old town. Our room was newly decorated with fridge and new furniture throughout.

Czech RepublicAccommodation OK, but we were not warned when booking that breakfast is outside the guesthouse. Specifically, 3 min. drive and moreover only from 9:30 am! Breakfast was included in the price of accommodation, but because we had already planned another program, we could not go to the paid breakfast. In addition, there was also a problem with communication. I don't speak Hungarian...

United KingdomI was disappointed that being given a breakfast card for Sunday the Cafe was closed and there was no one to ask about this.
The owner was kind and helpful. The room was simply but comfortably furnished with a fridge and a shower room .Breakfast was served in the coffee shop with a choice of food including a croissant, bread roll, apricot jam, butter and a large mug of fruit tea! It was delicious .Also nearby was Aldi’s Store very convenient for grocery shopping!

JapanOne thing. I wish there was a piece of paper explaining everything about the stay in English, it made my stay even better and easier.
Close to central and there’re grocery store and take away restaurant in front of the hotel. Room is basic and clean. Breakfast is provided in a lovely cafe next door except Sunday. On Sunday breakfast is provided in another café but both cafe is pretty nice. The receptionist only speaks and understands basic English and we ended up with talking with translation But he was smiling and it wasn’t problem.

United StatesBreakfast was great, but it is a 10-15 minute walk from the actual pension. However, the breakfast cafe is located right around the corner to the beautiful old town. I loved the Aldi's grocery store next to the pension, which made shopping for food and brewskis a breeze.

SlovakiaThe manager speaks NO English. None at all, not even numbers. In spite of that, his preferred method of communication is to call you on your phone and speak German, even if you tell him you can't understand what he's saying. My issue was, you're supposed to check in by 18:00. I was doing a bike trip and I realized I'd have to push pretty hard to make it on time. I made a request through Booking to check in a little later and in about a half-hour he calls me. I tell him in my non-existent German that I'd like to check in at 7 (Sieben). He doesn't say anything (but doesn't say no) so I say maybe six (Sechs) with an audible question mark. He says "Perfekt". I push hard to make it. About an hour after that, I get a message from Booking telling me I can check in from 19:00 to 20:00 for 10% extra (€ 4.70). I figure he sent me an automated message since he realized our conversation wasn't effective. I agree, I get a message confirming the change. I stop rushing, I take a break. At 18:00, he calls me and asks where I am. I try to explain the message situation, but my German isn't up to it and he doesn't understand. He then clearly says 10 PERCENT extra. I get there around 19:15, he charges me an extra 20 euros (10 per hour) - cash only, despite the fact that he has a VISA MASTERCARD sticker on his reception window. Oh, and he gives me no receipt. I don't know if the miscommunication is the fault of Booking or his fault, but either way, it resulted in an extra charge amounting to over 40% of the cost. The next day, there is nobody there at checkout time and no drop box, so I leave the key with the cleaning lady, 'cause she's the only person there. Then he calls me around 4 PM, telling me I only booked one night. I say I know. He then tells me I need to come back and return the key. I finally tell him to send me a message which I can translate. He does so and I translate what I told him in German.
The place is fairly well appointed and very clean, the breakfast is a toastie and your choice of hot drink in a café next door. Not a bad deal if you pay what's advertised. I didn't.

AustriaWe are extremely dissatisfied with our stay at the motel. The air conditioning was dirty, and we were suffocating from the dust. We had to open all the windows, which made the room too cold for us to sleep comfortably. We were promised breakfast, but we didn't receive it. Additionally, we were forced to leave earlier than expected due to the incorrect information provided on the website. We are very disappointed. Slavko

HungaryThe 'host' was called me in the early afternoon on the day of arrival to check on my time of arrival. I told him I would be there at 5:30 pm - exactly what I mentioned when I booked my room. When I arrived there however, at 5:25 pm, there was no one to receive me and the entrance door was locked. I called the man, he said he would come 'in 5, 10 minutes'. He arrived at 5:50 and started a lecture about he 'gave my room to a married couple so I had to stay in another place 500 meters away', being Taverna panzío. WTF!! I didn't believe a word of what he was saying but I had no choice. Taverna is an out of date panzío, I received a small room. Walls are not sound-proof, other guests were loud. The breakfast was in a large, cold and sticky cellar. So: NEVER AGAIN.
Nothing. See below.

RomaniaThe other room we booked was for two persons and the staff didn't let our two friends sleep with their small child (6 y.o.) in the same bed, so they gave them another room (they had to pay 128 euro instead of 67 euro for it) and that room was a total mess: the towels were still wet, the room had mold in the ceiling, had mold in the refrigerator, had a lot of stuff in the cabinet, there were a lot of chairs and boxes in a corner of the room, the bathroom didn't even had a mirror! The attitude of the host (an old man) was totally rasist, our friends could't talk anything about their problems because the old man kept replying "this is not your country, this is Hungary!". He was a total jerk. Another negative thing for all of us: the Breakfast. Saturday the breakfast was given at the cafeteria from the ground floor of the pension, but on Sunday that one was closed so we had to walk 20 minutes to the city center, to a certain cafeteria we had on a note. So we had to spend useless time (40 minutes to go and come back) just to drink our coffe in the morning! Problems also with check out: Our friends left a day earlier than us, and the old man told them to put the key in the mailbox of the pension. He was never there after that talk. So our friends started to look for the mailbox but could only find one with the name of a doctor, so they left us the key for us to give him when we come back from the city center. The old man called us and started to scream at us for the key, and when we came back with the key he started to scream some more asking if we don't know how to read Hungarian (my husband is Hungarian) and he took him by the hand and showed him that on the mailbox there are noted directions to the doctor and not that the mailbox belonges to the doctor... So overall a very bad experience, this is NOT how you treat your foreign guests. A little more patience and kindness goes a long way!
We booked two rooms. Our room was clean
