How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

It would be nice to have restaurant labels, meals translated to english or german.
Spacious rooms, great location above the city, great food and very polite staff. We will come back definitely. Sport center and wellness are fullfilling everything you look for in active vacation.

Swimming pool and saunas need urgent renovation. It could be cleaner. No towels for spa area in the room. Carpet in rooms should be changed.
Rooms was huge and beds comfortable. Breakfast very good.

The lighting in the staircase was not enough.
The staff was wonderful and the breakfast was very good. The restaurant has a wonderful terrace to sit outside. The triple room was spacious with a large private bathroom. Free parking was available right at the hotel. The wellness facilities were also a welcomed surprise. The pillows were good and this may sound strange until you stay at a hotel with bad pillows.

The receptionist was not too kind. The restaurant was weird (menu for vouchers). You had to go out to ask an operator to start saunas and things in the welnes area.
The room was nice and good size.

Only a little detail: I did my booking by booking.com. During check out, I asked for my invoice, but the person at the reception said that I can get the reception from Booking.com, which later on, I realized it was not possible. A day after, I contacted Hotel Makar, and they solved this very quickly, sending me my invoice by email.
Very good hotel, kind and helpful staff and top quality breakfast. I was there for work and I did not have time to enjoy the swimming pool and facilities. Next time!

The AC in our room 211 was not working. You could not lower the temp and on 30+ day it was needed The room got over 26 degrees overnight and was cooler in the corridor. Speaking of corridors, the lights would turn on by sensor but would stay on for a few seconds and it was dark again.
The room size was fantastic, spacious and comfortable. The decor felt dated and needed an upgrade. Despite this was in great condition.

The location might be considered as a bit far from town, 20-30mins walking but you can use the bus as well. Please note that the check out is 10am, not 12pm as booking said. We misunderstood but they were nice to not charge us late checkout
The room has big space, felt relaxing when we have enough space to walk with a young child, plus a big balcony. Clean and comfortable

The breakfast buffet was satisfactory but no large choice and if you came a little late there was a shortage of food.
The room was big with good bed and a convenient bathroom. The swimming pool is large enough and the sport amenities can be used also.

Breakfast was OK, but no gluten free or lactose free options listed - nor at the restaurant for diner.
The swimming pool was good, and the saunas at the evening - in the morning, mid-day they were not all turned on.

4star hotel and no smart TVs for the end of the day relaxation. No Netflix or other streaming options, no bluetooth connection to tv. Swimming pool is damaged. Not able to control the room temperature
