Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. BulgariaA little bit more time consuming process of payment because it is not organized trough booking site payment system Some additional requirements for filling/sending documentation for registration in advance which was quite annoying and time consuming. As was explained politely by owner this is because of new laws introduced in Hungary in 2021. In our opinion is not tourists friendly in 21st century and is required even to tourists from other European Union countries as is Hungary. We experience similar additional government requirements for tourists in our extensive travels trough the world till now only in Russia. This is not fault of the owner but in my opinion will be helpful to be known for other travelers to Hungary before booking Espresso machine in the house use very specific capsules which we were not able to find in a big grocery store in Mall nearby and few small shops where we searched for. It was explained when we ask owner from were to by them that it is in Tesco grocery stores. With such limited availability in our opinion is better to calculate in rental prices for the house 2 capsules per day per adult and to provide them in advance as is quite usual practice in other houses for rental. For short term stay (2 days, 3 nights) w/o car as in our case it was not planned and we don't have a time for excursion to nearest Tesco store in Budapest :) Because all 5 persons in our travel group are huge espresso lovers and drinkers and we usually check for availability of espresso machine in pictures and accommodation descriptions before booking only huge disappointment from the House with Garden in Budapest was that espresso machine was useless
Very charming old style house with big garden and nice terrace with outdoor furniture. Great location on 3 minutes walking distance from tram number 3 and 7-8 minutes to metro line 2 and mall with big grocery store. Very friendly owner with quick and polite email/WhatsApp communication. Easy process of later check in/out without personal contact with owner or his representatives Very good money to value ratio

AustraliaI personally would have preferred some stiffer pillows, even just as an option, however we only had one option, which was the really soft pillows. It wasn’t a major issue, in fact it hardly affected our stay.
I liked how close it was to the metro and to the shops. It was also a really nicely sized house and had perfect facilities

United KingdomPayment is difficult as it isn't done directly on Booking.com, it has to be done via PayPal or transfer, 50% on booking and 50% 2 weeks prior. Also complicated forms to fill in by pdf and emailed back. Plus a €200 security deposit which isn't clear on Booking.com, but is fair as you're staying in someone's home with all the furnishings and extras you don't get in a usual apartment/house rental. Also there is an energy charge of €14 per day on top of the rates quoted, and if you use more than 20% than the agreed amount from the meter readings there is a further surcharge which is deducted from your security deposit.
Excellently furnished and quiet traditional house just metres from a tram stop and easy access to Metro for all the city sights. Lots of space so ideal for a family group like ours so everyone has room to relax. Beds comfortable and everything you need in the kitchen.
