How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe location is great.
We wanted to leave a bad review from the get-go, and it just got worse. The apartment was dirty, there was pubic hair in the shower, and the blinds and a window were broken. There's a strong sewer smell coming from the bathroom. Then, people tried to get into our apartment while we were sleeping! The management company is awful, so don't even think about booking with them. Here's the full story: One morning, we were still asleep when someone started fiddling with the door, trying to get in with a key. When I opened the door, they said they were there to install a new gas meter and that we were supposed to have been informed. We weren't, of course. We told them to leave, but they kept coming back. We told them it wasn't possible since we had morning meetings. Later, we left for a while to let them into the apartment, and they kept coming back again after we got back, and the whole apartment smelled like burned metal from their work on the gas pipes. In the end, they told us they'd need to come back again the next morning. At that point, we gave up, checked out, and found another place to stay. The owner told us over the phone that he'd give us a refund, but when we messaged the management company, they just stalled and then completely ignored us. Even before we traveled, we started getting messages from Indian phone numbers, trying to get our credit card details. They knew our booking ID and the name of the management company. When we brought it up with the company, they blamed Booking.com. This is a huge red flag as the management company not taking responsibility for their own mistakes is another huge red flag.

Verified reviewWell thought out apartment, sparsely but efficiently furnished, situated a stone's throw away from Buda Citadel (400 meters) and close to a transportation and commercial hub at Szena ter and Mammut Mall (400 meters). Good communication with the team handling the guests - frequent messages and thorough information. The apartment is well lit and cosy. It has every appliance you need (microwave, dishwasher, coffee pot, flatiron etc). A great deal for the asking price.
There was a foul odor coming from the pipes in the bathroom. The refrigerator had a funny smell and froze everything over, even the vegetables. There were a lot of spots which could have benefited from a more thorough scrub. Attention: like many apartments in Budapest, this too has the water closet separated from the actual bathroom!

Verified reviewGreat location, close to transport hub with a lot of connections and few stations away from the most important landmarks in Budapest. You have a lot of stores, markets and big mall in the neighborhood. You have everything you need in the apartment, and i can point out one bonus quality. This was the most quiet street and building, which we have used in the past throughout the biggest European cities.
Check-in at 15:00 is logical and expected because of the cleaning process of big apartment, so be prepare for that if you have an early flight (and two kids :) ) like us.

Verified reviewGood size. Full bathroom. Big bedroom. Comfortable beds. Promptly supplied kettle when advised it was lacking. Close to Fisherman's Bastian, nice jog/walk. Easy public transport into the centre (frequent trams to centre over Margaret bridge), to Children's railway and buses through Fishermans Bastian, Buda Castle over Chain bridge to Pest side further south. Shopping mall nearby. Lovely sunny yellow walls and nice outlook. Minutes to closest Lidl.
Usual tiny chopping boards (cheese boards actually) and poor knives. There must be a black market for decent sized chopping boards and sharp knives stolen from short-term accommodation somewhere, as we almost never find them! Door to balcony was off 1 hinge and the door and windows weren't sealing properly, making the adjacent bed cold at night. The dining area was small & fridge is in a hallway cupboard (I'd take the door off). It's just the skeleton of the building, not the fault of the owner, I think. There weren't enough dining chairs, but we brought 1 in from the balcony. No couch/sofa, just 1 armchair and Ottoman. Second to last morning we were woken up by loud hammering and then an angle grinder. There was building maintenance going on in the common area so I would have expected the accommodation. managers to be aware. Unfortunately it was our only chance to sleep in during a very busy week. That all sounds very whinny! Overall we really enjoyed our stay.

Verified reviewThe location was quite close to metro/tram station and near to the touristic place around Buda Castle.
Very dirty place: we found spider nets in the corners and around the furniture, the windows frames and the windows themselves very dirty, the glass doors full of fingers marks. The so called "dressing" was smelly. The pots, plates, glasses used and old. Sticky surfaces everywhere. Plastic and insufficient towels, coffee machine only for capsules. The mosquito net in the bedroom was broken. We sent message to the property- first answer was that ",you are not in a hotel" then they promised to send the cleaning lady, but somehow nobody arrived; in the very last day of staying they said that the cleaning lady will come, but it was way too late!
