Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainThe breakfast never changed and everything was cold, there was nothing hot. The air conditioning only activates at temperatures above 27°C, and the nights were 25/26°C, so we never slept cool.
Attention, cleaning

PolandWe spent 3 lovely days at Ábel Pension in Budapest. The place was quiet, clean, and peaceful, with a charming garden to relax in. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. Our room was cleaned every day with fresh towels provided, which we really appreciated. A perfect spot if you're looking for a calm, comfortable stay.

United KingdomPerhaps a facility to store food in the rooms would be beneficial but we were travelling on a budget so this may not affect other guests as much.
The hosts were so lovely and welcoming. The breakfast each morning was enjoyable and we were able to chat to the other guests and get some amazing recommendations. It is located right next to a tram stop with great transport links in and out of the city. We loved our stay here and would highly recommend.

The Abel Pension provides simple, clean, friendly accommodation. It felt genuinely Hungarian as opposed to bigger more anonymous hotels. The continental breakfast included is really good.

United KingdomBreakfast was too early (7-9) - got up for it once and was very poor, not much selection and no boiling water for hot drinks. Very hard mattress. More a bed and breakfast than a hotel Wouldn't recommend coming in summer as AC only works if it's above 27°C Nothing really close to the hotel in terms of restaurants/shops etc need to use public transport or have a long walk into the centre.
Friendly host Location was OK as long as you use public transport to get into the centre. Very warm - ideal for the time we were there. Spacious room.

United KingdomThe furniture and decor are dated but still function. No TV but it isn't needed.
This is a family run house with rooms for visitors. They are all very friendly and welcoming. Don't expect chain hotel style facilities. It can't be beaten cost wise.

Czech RepublicThe duvet and pillows were filled with feathers, which may cause allergic reaction if a person is sensitive to it. The breakfast was good, but same for three consecutive days. A small alteration could be fine for longer stays :-).
The pension is very close to the tram station going to the city center. The parking is possible on the street and is free of charge during weekends. The stuff is very friendly and helpful. The room is extremely spacy and very comfortable for longer stays.

RomaniaThe photos on booking ar well done professional ones, but the place could use a restauration, at least fresh painting on the walls to change the closed air in the entire house, deap cleaning (including wash the carpet), constant airing would help because the smell of cooking and tigars is everywhere, even the towels. No showergel, no shampoo, hairdryer on request only, no smallsize fridge in the room, no glasses for water (only the ones for toothbrushes). A bit unconfortable to pay on arrival, before seeing the room.
Abel pension is a 1920's well located pension, close to tram station, well heated, with comfortable hard beds, clean sheets and towels. Nice of them to be there for late check in, cause we arrived around 23.30. Breakfast was ok: corn flakes, oat, yogurt, jam, butter, honey, milk, coffee, 2 type of juice, tea, 1 plate for 3 of: ham, salami, cheese, 2 slices of pepper, 2 of cucumber, 2 of tomato. Altough kind to put some more on request.

HungarySmell and noise: it is a beautiful 100+ years old house, but it has its cons. It is not really soundproof; you can hear people in the neighbouring rooms easily. The smell is also "old", if it is something you are sensitive to, it can be a problem. You have to sit at one huge table with the other guests for breakfast which can be strange.
Location and host: really good location, quiet street but perfectly connected public transport is just 2 minutes by walk. Bed was comfortable, nice and clean room. The host was very kind, breakfast was ok, nothing special (only cold breakfast). Beautiful historic building. All in all, nice accommodation with a few downsides coming from the age of the building. Furniture is old, it is part of the charm. Hairdryer is available at request, and you get clean towels daily.
