How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewSince this was my first time staying in a hostel, I had some initial reservations. But after arriving and talking to the people working there (I'm not saying this is the place), I realized this was the place. The staff are all exceptional and incredibly helpful. The hostel's amenities are exactly as advertised. For the comfort of the beds, the layout and spaciousness of the rooms, and the location, a 10 wouldn't be enough. I send my regards to all of them and hope to see you again on my next visit.
Only, there is just only little thing. Kitchen stuffs can be improve maybe. But generally guests are going to eat outside so its not so big problem.

Verified reviewThe pro of staying here I feel, was definitely the location. It is close to Riva, but not so much it’s noisy at night. Also, the beds having curtains added so much privacy. The rooms stayed cool at night and there is a balcony as well, albeit small. The staff were also nice and friendly.
The facilities were a bit outdated, one of the women’s shower head wouldn’t stay up. Other than that, everything is to be expected of a hostel as is no problem.

Verified reviewCleaning staff absolutely lovely. It's a small hostel with a very cute vibe.
Shared kitchen was a bit of a mess when I was there, but that is more the fault of residents for not throwing their food out.

Verified reviewI had a great time. The staff were incredibly sweet and it really felt like a home for a few days! I'm really glad I booked this hostel. The location was good and they made sure it was clean. All in all, it was a very, very good experience. The beds all had a light, a power outlet, curtains and some shelf space with a really big locker. If I'll visit Split again, I'll defently be back here!
The bathrooms and the fridge could have a been a bit bigger, but it was still good.

Verified reviewThe dorm was ok, it had AC and it was only 4 people. The space is very welcoming.
The bathroom is a bit dirty.

Verified reviewThe room was clean, the air conditioning kept the room at a comfortable temperature. The beds came with a large locker for bags and a curtain for privacy. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the location was perfect. Generally it was calm and friendly, I felt safe and comfortable sleeping there
My only complaint is that the women's shower rooms were a bit cramped and didn't feel that private as the window from the shower was directly facing the balcony. There wasn't much space to get changed or leave the towel etc while showering so I didn't feel it was very comfortable if two people were showering at once. Overall it was manageable for a short stay

Verified reviewThe location was great, central and walkable to the city core
I booked this hostel based on the good reviews; loved the image it provided of being spacious and clean, yet artsy. The price point was much higher than most of the others in the area; and I assumed it would be worth it ($98 Euros a night) I booked the room with less beds and air conditioning seeking comfort. I arrived at 8:30pm from the ferry from DBV. The staff were helpful in helping me to locate the building which originally was not well marked; no signage - I had to message to find it; as it’s a small upper floor 2 bedroom apartment in an alley way full of apartments with no address listed on the building. I was greeted by a helpful man and led to my space; which was not what I anticipated. I have enjoyed many hostel stays on this trip. The room was packed with people’s belonging strewn everywhere; very mis managed and chaotic. Zero air conditioning. The entire hostel itself is extremely packed and small; with people in every room, no personal space to be found. No kitchen space to sit with 2 others cooking their meals. The bunk I was given was impossible to access with out moving other people’s belongings to access my locker and ladder to my bunk. The neighbours locker below mine was wide open; with all of their personal items spilling out from their bunk onto the floor and hanging off their locker door; an umbrella opended on the floor and could not open or close my locker without touching their things. I had a small amount of groceries that needed refrigeration (meat cheese and fruit) before setting out to explore; just a teeny tiny under counter apartment sized fridge for everyone staying at the hostel to share; I had to throw away everything as there was zero space to store it.
Hello! Usually we don't write responses to reviews, but your review compelled us to do so. Firstly, you didn't pay 98 euros per night. You paid 96 euros for two nights, and of that amount 5 is for the city tax. So in total you paid 45.50 euros per night. Secondly, of course the building has an entrance number. We're not responsible for your ability to use Google maps or look around yourself, but, as you said, as soon as you texted us the receptionist came down to get you. Furthermore, the hostel is not responsible for the way guests manage their belongings. We're sorry if the other guests were messy, but if you were really bothered by them leaving their stuff on the floor you should've told them. Clear communication goes a long way. Also, every room in the hostel has AC, including the common space. Sometimes we turn it off and open the windows so fresh air can come in. After all, multiple people sleep in the same room and people cook in the common space. We're not sure why the things you mentioned in your review warrant a 1 star rating, but the fact that you later texted us in an attempt to get a refund (in exchange for removing the review) is pretty self explanatory. We hope that everyone who sees your review also looks at other reviews, which are regularly positive. Cheers! Tchaikovsky staff

A bit cluttered and could’ve been cleaner. Pillow was completely flat and did not have a spare when asked for another.

Verified reviewGreat stay as always (my third time staying there). Great staff, great location, has bed curtains, and each bed is also equipped with a couple of shelves and a bed lamp.
The only reason why I'm giving it a 9/10 instead of a 10/10 is because the kitchen is too small. There is space for one extra stove top to be added (there is only one currently), and for a normal sized fridge (the current one is a mini fridge) with a bit of reorganization. But otherwise, it's a really great hostel.

Verified reviewHostel was pretty much flawless, great staff (shoutout to Mirjana and Fabjan!), very comfortable accommodation, very sturdy and cozy bunkbeds, coffee available all day long, and close to everything in Split, great gang of people staying there. It's really a 10/10, would recommend to everybody, no mistake, just book it, you won't regret!!!
Nothing really

Verified reviewThe hostel was so wonderful. The bedrooms were so comfortable, there was plenty of room and storage. The staff were so kind and helpful, especially Marija. Everywhere was in walking distance. There were also plenty of complimentary items scattered throughout the place. Couldn’t have asked for a better time in Split. I would definitely come here again. A very comfortable, queer-friendly space.
The shower area could have been cleaner and possibly had a shelf to put your things. But I don’t expect anything fancy from a hostel shower room anyways.

Verified reviewThis hostel makes u feel like home. The owners try and succeed to make you comfortable and help with your requests. Location it’s great, the room is cleaned and the bed is really confortable.
It’s not a bad thing but if you intend to cook and buy food, there’s only a small fridge to be share among all the guests.
