Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PolandThere was no kitchen but that's temporary, the place with the kitchen is under renovation now. I guess there might be lines to the bathrooms (there are 2 of them) when the hostel is full but since it wasn't full when I was there, I didn't experience problems with it. The towels are available for an additional charge.
The hostel is located right in the old town of Split, just a 3-minute walk from the Riva and about 1 kilometer from the bus station. It's very clean, probably one of the cleanest hostels I've stayed in. My bed was comfortable. There are power sockets near each bed, which is convenient. There are also lockers provided. The wifi worked perfectly, and so did the AC/heating. You can have free tea and coffee. There's also a fridge for the guests. Adrian, the owner, is super nice. He's very present in the hostel, chats with everyone, welcomes and says goodbye to everyone, and is always ready to help. The price of the room was good too. In general, it's a great place to stay.

AustraliaThe location was perfect, in the middle of the old town. The manager was waiting for me and he was really kind. He gave me a better room as not many guests were there (low season) and everything was comfy and clean.

I enjoyed my stay at Sweet dreams hostel. Adrijan (AJ) who manages the hostel was really nice and friendly, in general a happy go lucky chap 🙂. The room and shared facilities were clean - this is a deal breaker for me - the bedding was washed upon my arrival and I was able to chose my bed (bunkbed). The female bathroom is a really good size and it was clean. The location is fantastic - City centre- couldn't ask for a better location - it's a short walk to ferry terminals, local bus station, train station, and longer distance bus station (flixbus etc). I was so pleased with my stay I booked a bed in Sweet Dreams hostel multiple times in September 2023.

New ZealandThe AC had broken just before our arrival so things were a bit warm, but AJ had installed plenty of fans to help mitigate the issue and the AC would have been fixed if we'd arrived a few weeks later
AJ runs a really cool and comfortable business. The place is very clean and perfectly situated in the old Town, 5 minutes from diocletians palace and 10 minutes from the bus station. The beds were super comfortable and AJ was in there making lots of little improvements all the time to make the experience better. The other guests were also super social and easy to live around

United Kingdom*Girls, BEWARE* Highly intoxicated, aggressive and invasive host who was sexually inappropriate and frightened several female guests through predatory behaviour. There are no locks on the dorm room doors. Cash only. One bath / shower for all female / male guests to share. No communal space. No kitchen. Overall, the most uncomfortable and unsafe space for female travellers who want a fun, comfortable and safe stay.

BulgariaThey were texting me on WhatsApp that only cash payments are accepted and the location was changed. No kitchen available. There were only two bathrooms - one female and one male (for like 4 rooms). No balconi. The AC in the room didn't work and it was super hot inside. We were 8 people in the room. There was some noise in the common area from the other guests after midnight. Somehow my reservation was cancelled and I had an email, etc from Booking while I used my reservation and paid in cash. Check-out until 10 am.
The hostel was ok. AJ (the host) was super cute, friendly and easy going. The location was perfect. Free hot water and coffee.

BelgiumNoisy door handles in the bedroom annoying at night. Only one toilet per gender. Smelly female toilet. Not much of a hostel atmosphere, small common area at the reception. Could not pay by card as advertised and owner didn't care telling us we could go somewhere else upon arrival. 4-bed room is an overstatement as it is attached to a 6-bed room without separating door.
Location was great, place was quite clean, showers were very good, bunk beds were stable
