How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewGreat location and super helpful reception! This place is close to supermarkets and the beautiful Znjan Beach — in my opinion, the best one in Split! The area was well taken care of, and the rooms were super nice! It's more on the local side, but it's only a 30-minute walk to the Old Town, or you can easily take the bus. Super recommended!

Verified reviewShock! So clean and comfortable for so reasonable money ??? It's impossible! In other hostels. But in the Elli hostel it's exactly like this! This is the cleanest and most comfortable hostel in my long history of traveling. It's small, family friendly and cozy. + Friendly staff, including the cleaner, speaks English + Beds are wide, comfortable. Curtains on each bed make for a comfortable stay in a mixed room for men and women. + Snow-white bed linen + Air conditioning! After the exhausting beach heat, you come to a cool oasis 😊. + Spacious kitchen with comfortable sofas, tables, a large refrigerator and everything you need to prepare food + A lot of dishes of different sizes for all tastes, microwave, kettle + Convenient bar counter, separated by a wall, for those who prefers privacy for eating or non-public communication + Spacious hygiene room: showers, toilets, mirrors - it is convenient for girls to tidy up themselves without prying eyes. + Optimal number of toilets and showers completely eliminates queues and waiting time + Dryers for swimsuits, towels, clothes + WiFi works perfectly 😊 + Capacious lockers for suitcases and clothes - mega convenient!!!! + Quiet courtyard + No “drunken” parties, disturbing sleep + There are Lidl, Kaufland, market with fresh fruits :), grocery stores, cafes, bus stops in walking distance + There are 2 clean city beaches in walking distance up to 1.5 km Thank you to the owners and all the staff for organizing MAXIMUM comfort for travelers for a pleasant price. Special thanks to the charming cleaning lady for the daily diligent care of cleanliness! I recommend it to all who appreciates comfort at a reasonable price. Fits a long stays (I was thete for 5 days, I didn't even notice :)). Hostel is not suitable only for those who wants to live exactly in the center. From the hostel to the city center 30 minutes on foot or 15 minutes by bus.
I liked everything😊 just didn't have enough space in the previous column, so I'm writing a continuation here 😅. To the owners and staff I wish financial prosperity, to the hostel guests -careful attitude to the hostel property, to all brutally snoring travelers - take anti-snoring spray on trips, because not only you, but also your roommates, imagine, want to sleep at night 😉. Hugs from the Czech Republic 💖💋

Verified reviewI was very pleased with my stay at the Ellie hostel. The host of the hostel met me, showed me my room, showed me the dining room, showed me the bathroom and toilet, and I can say that everything is very clean, there is a very pleasant smell, there are shower amenities. I liked it very much. The beach is very close to the hostel, but since I am a tourist who loves to walk, I preferred to go see the promenade and swim at another beach in the city. I really enjoyed it.I can say that everything is within close proximity to the hostel, including shops. For those who don't like to walk, you can go by taxi or bus. Everything is within walking distance, very convenient.During my entire stay, three people changed at the reception, and they were all very nice, kind, and smiling people. I am very grateful. I liked it a lot.I liked everything very much, I will recommend it.

Verified reviewVery clean bed
Man from Rezeption was unfriendly, aslo I asked him if was possible to sleep downstairs but he said that only who stays longer they can sleep down. Ps in this night in our room was 3 bad empty downstairs, but I had to sleep upstairs....
You came for one night. Of course we give preference and the option to choose beds for people who stay longer. There were no free downstairs beds. We had no show! Person was not unfriendly, he just needed to explain to you and your demands that you are not only guests in the hostel and that we treat everyone the same.

Verified reviewThis was a very good offer for such a money.I paid only 14 eu includes all taxes. I was surprised how clean the whole hostel was including the showers and toilets, and the spacious dining area as well, where you find everything you need to prepare r meal.Even the hostel was booked out that night , it was quite quiet. No towels ( for 2 € fee) or shower gel. I met some nice people over there. Also I find out I prefer much more small hostels like this then the big ones.City centre ( including bus+ train station+ ferry harbour)is like 25-30 mins walk though! Its further away from old town. But like 10 mins walk you have lovely beach Trstenik. Buses cost from 2€- 60 mins or you can get a good app Promet Split with better cost.
Squeaking bed and noise at night from the main corridor—hearing people talk a lot at night, lack of consideration about other people sleeping. The code from the room is written on paper; u gotta remember it or have it written somewhere, which is not my case... It would be much better to have some universal chip key like in other hostels.
I don’t think 4 digit number is hard to remember. And I don’t see how key card would help if you couldn’t carry paper with 4 simple digits :) Much better than have a key card and cary it around!
