Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Belgium1 roommate was making long telephonecalls in the bedroom with her boyfriend . Really up to an hour and even way longer every day. Putting it on speaker and even also facetiming through the room. I'm sorry but i'm not going to leave the bed in the room i paid for. They felt they had no "privacy".
Perfect location, good hostel. I love hostelrules.

AustraliaTriple bunks - bottom ones are hard to get into. Individual lights/charging ports would have been nice. Unisex toilet/shower rooms were cramped. More of a warning than a criticism - basically needed to walk to the shower in your towel because no space for your clothes. Not for the delicate, or those that potentially want to over-share. I was ok with that, but maybe it's not for all.
Very close to the town centre and port. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hostel dog was lovely. Very strong party vibe (if that is your thing, I was probably a bit old for that). Free beer at happy hour! Communal space was small but felt very energetic. Large secure luggage lockers.

United StatesThe bottom bunk has a bar you can feel through the mattress, very uncomfortable.
There was always a bathroom open, the staff was great even though they had to stay late because we got in late. The location was also perfect for food and shopping and beach.

United KingdomIt was quite a small hostel and the common room was pretty tight so not much room to get comfortable. The terrace wasn't really much of a terrace, it's a bit of an outside area that hasn't been maintained very well and got a couple of dodgy looking chairs, not really somewhere anyone would want to sit and socialise.
It was a good social hostel which is great for meeting people and they had social hours in the evening and a good bar crawl. The staff were friendly and gave lots of good recommendations for things to do in the area. The place and facilities were always very clean.

United KingdomKitchen was a bit small but it had everything it needed and more.
The owner is a really chill guy that you can have an interesting chat with. The place itself is definitely the most aesthetic hostel I’ve been to - the decor is really cool, and the vibe they’ve worked hard to establish definitely makes it a funky place. The beds were comfortable, the facilities were all there and functional and the location was slap bang in the heart of split. If you’re staying in this city, choose no other place. Trust me :)

ItalyThere were only two toilets and they were in a big bathroom, so if two people were showering, you weren't able to use the toilet. Could benefit from a separate toilet away from shower.
The staff were super helpful. On my last day I wasn't leaving split until 22hrs and the staff allowed me to leave my luggage with them and even suggested I keep my borrowed towel from the hostel so that when I return for the day I could still have a shower without needing to use my own towel. Very cosy and homey feeling, all the travellers and the staff seemed to enjoy each other's company. Bathrooms were private and spacious. Kitchen has everything you needed. They have the cutest and most chilled out dog there. Walking distance from everywhere! Quite central but a little bit tucked away so you could avoid the noise.

New ZealandIt will be even better when there is a place on the top bunks to keep glasses, phone, book safe...
"Help yourself to tea and coffee," was just part of the friendly welcome which made all the difference. It is clear the hosts go out of their way to make each individual feel respected and valued. I appreciated being able to lock my bike in the secluded garden (which although outside is off the main street) and being able to leave my pannier bags in the luggage storage area and return for them before catching my evening ferry to Italy. Thank you for making all ages feel welcome!
