Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomOnly issue was the shower was a little troublesome. It ran super hot then freezing cold and was tricky to keep at the right temperature and once it was ok the power went leaving it to trickle !! Otherwise a wonderful stay and would come again.
Fantastic location for entrance to the National Park. Staff were wonderful and attentive. Ate in the restaurant both nights we stayed and it was excellent both nights. Great breakfast.

United StatesHalf of the property smells like sewage (thankfully our room wasn’t on that side). Restaurant staff had limited knowledge of gluten free foods which was challenging given I have celiac disease. Breakfast buffet was below average. There is a small petting farm with a goat, bunny, miniature pony, and a Saint Bernard dog —- it doesn’t appear that the animals are very well cared for, which is sad.
Dinner was very good along with the wine selection. Room was clean and comfortable. Location and access to Plitvice Lakes National Park was exceptional. Property has game rooms with darts, pool, and ping pong to help occupy your time.

United StatesThey had a good selection of breakfast foods, but the "hot" items were cold both mornings we ate there. We ate dinner at the restaurant both nights as well. I would say the food was decent but not fabulous for the price.
The location was great and very close to an entrance to the park. The staff member who checked us in was so friendly and helpful, and he assisted us many times throughout our stay in different areas. He really went above and beyond and made us feel welcome. They had plenty of parking, and the room and bathroom were spacious and comfortable. We got massages and used the sauna, and it was seriously one of the best massages I've ever had. The hotel grounds have tons of recreational and entertainment options, and this would be a great place to stay for families with kids. The on-site dinner restaurant was really convenient.

SlovakiaThe only downside was a constant high-frequency noise, probably from a heat pump, which occasionally disturbed the otherwise peaceful environment.
The accommodation has an excellent location – just a short distance from the entrance to Plitvice Lakes National Park. The surroundings are beautiful, with cozy wooden cottages that create a very pleasant atmosphere. The staff were extremely kind and helpful, and we truly felt welcome. Parking right next to the hotel was also very convenient. Overall, a very pleasant place to stay, ideal for visiting Plitvice.

This is the oddest hotel. It's trying really hard to appeal to everyone - couples, families, adventure travelers - rather than concentrate on a single group. It has a padel court and a small zoo (which I think it should retire) - what other hotel has that? The bottom line, however, is that the cabins are great - spacious, contemporary (not rustic on the inside) and I highly recommend this place.

ItalyMaintenance in general could be better and also cleaning, especially in the jacuzzi in our room. The water temperature in the jacuzzi was perfect when we arrived but later on it was not possible to warm it up again so we did not use it, and it 's been a pity since it was on our balcony. In the shower water pressure was not strong enough and temperature was not stable
Breakfast was very good with a huge variety of food. Entertainment also good (indoor & outdoor sports).kindness of all the people working in the hotel.parking very close for luggage loading/unloading. Excellent position for visiting the lakes and very warm welcoming with all the instructions for visiting the park and avoid crowd

NetherlandsThere was nothing not to like
We had a wonderful stay at the Ethno Houses near Plitvice Lakes as a family of six. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our visit. Despite our early 6 AM departure, they thoughtfully prepared a delicious take-away lunch package for all of us. The rooms were very clean, smelled fresh, and we enjoyed having two comfortable connecting rooms. I also needed a safe place to store my mountain bikes, and the team kindly stored them securely in the wine bar, which gave me great peace of mind. Highly recommended for families and anyone visiting Plitvice! The food in the restaurant was also very good, we had lunch and dinner.

United KingdomOutside areas we’re a little tired and a dog in a cage isn’t what I’d quite class as a “zoo”. The restaurant was quite a contrast to the rustic nature of the property, with elements quite formal and expensive.
Nice comfortable room, excellent location, enjoyed a game of padel and table tennis with numerous seating options for drinks. The lamb Peka was lovely in the restaurant.

United KingdomThe jacuzzi was quite small for such a big facility resulting in the water not looking amazingly clear. Also, it would have been helpful for the concierge to have one ironing board and iron for shirts
The place was great - in nature, with many activities, friendly staff. Was really beautiful

United StatesThe walls are a bit thin as is apparently the ceiling of our room. Enough water from a shower upstairs dropped into our bathroom. That’s dirty shower water, enough to soak a very thick bath towel. Eeewww. Not a lot to be done about it, except I did ask the guests to be more mindful of closing the doors and wiping up the water…only to have someone else in the room do it again a few minutes later. The staff appreciated the situation. They offered to have someone mop it up, which I didn’t have them do. It was still dripping for a while, so it took a bit to get it all absorbed. They did bring us extra towels as requested.
This place is pretty AMAZING!!! Gorgeous, serene, and yet so much fun. All the activities are right there. So much to do right there on the property. No need to chase an itinerary. The staff is so considerate and attentive. We had the good fortune that Anes (he’s a gem!) checked us in. He provided fantastic instructions for our adventure in Plitvice. We knew which gate to enter, how to get there, and the best direction of travel for our 4-hr endeavor (we’re fast walkers). The waitstaff was particularly helpful too. They were always making sure we were doing well and happy. If you have a chance, I highly recommend the massage. In 25 minutes, she was able to unknot my neck and back, almost good as new.

United StatesWhile I expected rustic given the location, areas of the property are pretty run down including some of the children’s play area and mini golf course. The “zoo” is a series of caged animals and we didn’t spend much time there as it made us sad. Finally the breakfast was nothing to write home about. I have low expectations of hotel breakfast but our first day we went just before it closed and it was terrible. The other two days we arrived closer to 7:30 when it opens and it was better.
The location for Lake Plitvice National Park can’t be beat with just a short walk from the property to the unofficial Entrance 3. You can buy tickets online and present them at the gate but there are no ticket sales at this gate. The front desk staff is absolutely amazing and gave us great tips not only on a route for the park that got us away from the crowds (Except for at the Big Waterfall. There is no avoiding the tours there.) They also gave us lots of tips on local swimming holes and other activities we could do on our non-hiking day. There are activities onsite such as pool, mini golf, archery (extra fee), books and games and a few others. Thanks to Anes, Idan, Taniya, Biswash and the whole staff. We had a great time.

Ethno is a very comfortable and cozy property with exceptionally warm staff. Everyone was eager to take care of us and explained / answered all the questions before check-in and during the stay with a lot of agility and warmth. I would highly reccomend this property as it is very close to entrance 3 and gave us good options to cover both lower and upper lakes.

United KingdomHeating was on in my room and could not turn off. It was already warm outside so wasn’t the most comfortable. A lot of stairs to navigate with suitcases. We weren’t there for a huge amount of time but can imagine if you had mobility issues it would be a different story.
Perfect location to explore the Lakes. Reception staff were very helpful in planning with us (arrived having not done my usual pre-planning). Gave us a perfect plan to get the best out of our day of walking. Breakfast was fine, food in restaurant good.
