Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandIt was all perfect
The Room is Massive and even with 20 beds, It still feels very private. The hostel is always clean and the shower pressure is just perfect👍🏽 Staff are relaxed and polite. They have a drinking vendor machine in the lobby which came really handy to me at night.

AustraliaAir con could be a bit more powerful or lower temperature. At times I woke up in a sweat despite having my bed curtain opened to allow for airflow. Otherwise a really lovely stay!
Facilities are really nice and I never had to wait for a shower or toilet! Location isn’t in old town so expect a walk to and from but as a female solo traveller the walk is very safe and through residential homes. They also allowed me to check in early which is a huge plus.

FranceNothing except maybe the lack of events at the hostel.
The living room is huge and modern, it's a pretty chill spot to meet people, especially if you're travelling alone, its safety as well (you just need to create a personal digicode for your locker) The clean bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchen. Very nice employees. Its proximity to the harbor and City Center, about 15 min by feet.

New ZealandThere is some construction at the moment so it’s quite hard to find the hostel. One other thought - I booked the female only dorm but it is super easy to tell what all the room locks are once you get yours, so maybe that should be changed or at least just the female room be mixed up.
The staff are amazing, Daria is lovely!! Had a great stay - comfy, quiet, in a perfect location. The bathrooms and dorms are all clean. Bathrooms have a hair dryer which is nice :) Would 1000% stay again! There are so many things to do nearby like visiting the palace is a 13min walk, going along the marina where there is loads of food is 15min, the supermarket is a 2min walk. Much more ideas of activities to do are on the notice board in the hostel!

United StatesI didn’t love the small hand towel that was provided for showers. I get they probably expect people will bring their own, which luckily I did, but it feels like hospitality 101 to provide towels. I also didn’t love how there’s not a whole lot of room for putting your stuff down when showering. Lastly, the floor gets slippery outside of the showers. Wish there was a better drainage system.
Overall, this hostel was solid, ample, and comfortable. My friend was staying at a different hostel in Split that was cramped, muggy, smelly, and definitely not nearly as nice as En Route. Each bed has a curtain for some privacy, most have a hook to hang stuff (though my bed was missing the hook), spacious lockers that are easy to lock and unlock. While you can hear people in other rooms through the wall, the soundproofing against the common room is good. Most nights, 20-something year olds party in the common room but you can’t hear them that much from the rooms. Either way, the hostel offers earplugs if you need. The kitchen is spacious, the bathrooms are cleaned every morning. You’ll meet lots of nice friendly people and can join them in activities via the WhatsApp group.

CanadaThe location is a bit far from the old town of Split—you have to walk for 14–15 minutes in the hot summer. In addition, the hostel sign is not big or clear enough to be easily seen or found, especially at night. The lounge room is nice, but it would be better if it had more power sockets for people to charge their phones or work on their laptops.
The staff are very nice. When I checked in, she showed me the room and reminded me of the door codes. The room is very spacious, with 22 beds. Each bed has a curtain for privacy and comes with a large locker for your luggage and added security. Although the room is big and shared by many people, the air conditioning works well, and the air circulation is good. I felt quite comfortable. The lounge is also spacious, providing a great place to relax and chill.

Switzerland...but some other staff members weren't very friendly or keen to help. The communication between the various staff seems very lacking. I had requested a lower bunk bed much before my travel, which was accepted, but while checking-in it was a top bunk bed... When I told the staff who was checking me in, she shrugged and said "it's a busy period". Thankfully I later explained it to another staff person who immediately helped me switch beds. The kitchen has only few utilities for the large number of guests, and tends to be very messy depending on the guests. The baking oven was very poorly kept, and even turned my clothes smoky when I tried to use it... But keeping in mind the budget and great value for money, I guess these are nitpicks in the larger scheme of things.
Extremely good value, budget wise Good and rather comfortable amenities Mostly clean premises Plenty of showers and toilets available Kitchen at disposal Location was quite convenient, only 15 minutes walking/5 minutes ride from the Split Riva area Supermarket right next to the hostel Some of the staff members were quite nice...
