How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

I am really sorry about your review. Your room was 35 square metres. A very large room for two people, and comfortably sleeps another two if someone is looking to not book a second room. Many groups appreciate saving money, especially for a one night stay like yours, or parents with children. The size of the room is listed in the description when making your booking. It is a large hotel style room with private bathroom. None of our rooms have their own kitchen, and we do not list any rooms with kitchen. This review isn’t fair and objective.

I bet they could get the sound of the street down inside way lower if they used 3-glass windows instead.

Verified reviewConveniently located for the ferry service and the old town. But that’s about it! Hard mattress and very noisy until early hours of the morning even with the supplied earplugs. Also the curtains do not fully fit so a lot of light comes through. The building appears to be some old office block. The windows need to be upgraded.

Our mattresses are new, they are on the firmer side, but not hard. To all guests, please let us know via text if you prefer a harder or softer mattress. Our mattresses are firmer, but we have memory foam mattresses that can be placed on the existing mattress. We really do try to tailor to everyone’s needs, unfortunately it’s not always possible. We definitely aren’t a hostel, classic hotel style ensuite, in a private accommodation. Thanks for your feedback. 🙏

Verified reviewMe and my friends throughly enjoyed our stay at the Indigo Inn. Firstly the location was suburb and within walking distance to lovely beaches and the city centre. Secondly the staff went above and beyond for its guests and showed us such hospitality. Lastly the room was very welcoming and clean, and the ac was a lifesaver-facility in the warm weather we experienced during our stay. We felt so welcomed and will definitely stay here again the next time we’re in split. Thank you for everything!

Verified reviewThe location is perfect. Train, bus, ferries, and Split town. Easy access. Good communication from Gerry. Ie. access codes. Room clean, bed comfortable.
Noisy even though they have soundproofing. Basic room, which we are not used to. No area to sit, room tiny.
Greetings, our double room is our smallest room. An ideal room for guests that are out and about all day, and are preferring to budget more for all the great tours and restaurants on offer. Our comfort and superior rooms are more suited to longer stays, as they have large seated areas and plenty of space. Feel free to contact us and we’ll help you choose the room that is perfect for your needs. That said, lots of guests love our double room, and it’s perfect for what they are looking for. Verified reviewExcellent location! Just steps away from all the must-sees and the ferry. Market and bakeries right next to the building entrance. The room was very convenient, clean, comfortable, and spacious (for 2 adults + 2 kids). And the host was super helpful, kind, and responsive. Self-checkin was smooth, specially for a late-night arrival with sleepy young children and heavy luggage. And on the day of our checkout we could leave our luggage in the host’s office during the day until the time of our departure, which was extremely convenient. I highly recommend this property and would gladly stay here again.

Verified reviewDuring check-in, we asked if a room with two beds for four people was available. The host said no and proactively suggested canceling the reservation, promising a refund via Booking. However, the host later refused the refund with various excuses, breaking the promise. The room was partitioned from a larger space with poor sound insulation. Location is good, but parking is very difficult. We did not stay in the end, and the experience was disappointing. Not recommended.
Completely dishonest review. You made a reservation for 2 people and arrived with 4 for an after hours check in. When your room couldn’t accommodate the extra guests, you left and insisted on a refund. Booking.com informed you of the same. You have been threatening us with a negative review for days. Our room (for 4 people) was located right above a busy - and a very noisy - road. The windows were thin and not insulated whatsoever. This meant that we couldn’t sleep at all due to the noise which continued all night long. Even earplugs and covering our heads with pillows didn’t help. Totally not worth the money we spent. I don’t recommend this place.

Our apologies for the unnecessary discomfort. The vast majority of our guests prefer the room we upgraded you to, it is our most popular room, but we are all different. To all guests, please let us know your feelings while you are still staying with us. We will do everything we can to make it work for you.
