How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

I spent my vacation in Makarska in August for two weeks. The property was in a great location right next to the Tommy supermarket, which made daily grocery shopping much easier. There were beautiful views of the mountains and the sea from the balcony. The standard was good, with air-conditioned rooms. The rooms were cleaned more often than I expected. The underground parking was a huge advantage on hot days, as the car was always cool. The owners were very kind and friendly people. The manager made sure our three families were on the same floor, without any prior arrangement. The property manager was also very happy to help when my car battery died. He provided a jump starter and showed me where I could buy a new battery. The prices were attractive. I highly recommend it.

We were and we are still amazed about this apartment! In the last 6 years we had approx 120 bookings, - hotels, hostels, apartments other accomodations - and let me tell you, this is the best what we ever had! Location, owner, apartment, communication, simply everything is just perfect! Highly recommended! Thank you for the beautiful 3 days what we could spend there! If 100 points would be the scale, we would give 100!

Not a single thing I can think of that I didn't like.
Perfect location, closed garage, clean, very hospitable hosts. Store and pharmacy right next to the building.

It was not the case.
Everything was ok, the apartament that we Booked was really clean and spacios, great hosts and very good location, 5 minutes from the beach Makarska. We highley recommand it.

Kitchen had basic equipment, although it was sufficient for quick easy cooking. We had balcony facing quite busy road, but we had the door/window closed most of the time anyway as we had AC turned on.
Friendly and helpful staff, room briefly cleaned almost on daily basis, supermarket super close (right under the apartment building), underground safe parking

The hosts were very friendly and helpful, this family's goal is to make sure we were well taken care of. Plenty of space to enjoy, easy access to everything, transport,shops, beach, restaurants and entertainment. The apartment was quiet and we couldn't hear any body else in the building. Highly, highly recommended and looking to returning, thank you guys for everything. Was not expecting what we got and really pleasantly surprised and it made our holiday. They should should be proud

The kitchen could be better equipped and the fridge is too small for a family.
The hosts are very kind and helpful. The view from the room was beautiful and Makarska and nearby beaches are amazing! The room was always clean (every day cleaning!), bed and the 2 bathrooms were very comfortable. It is very convenient that shop, pharmacy, exchange are next to the door, bakery is about 300m and the nearest beach is 5 mins walking.

Kitchen stuff is fairly basic, but good enough for a holiday.
Great location, 5 minutes from the beach. Very convenient size of the apartment. It had good air conditioning. Convenient beds.

The street in front of the house is a bit noisy.
The apartman has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, quite enough spaces for 4 persons (2 adults, 2 children). There is also a very big balcony with view of the sea, we had breakfast on the balcony which was very cosy. The apartman was clean, good equipped, the towels are changed every 3 days. The staff was very friendly. I recommend this accomodation. The beach is about 5-10 minutes light walk.
