How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThis is a very well equipped, modern, and clean apartment with double bed, kitchen, and bathroom. The location is perfect, about ten minutes walking distance from the bus terminal, the Riva promenade, and the major sights around the cathedral. Breakfast is not included, but a bakery just five minutes away. Also, on the last day, you can leave luggage in a travel agency shop on the main street, again just five minutes away (5 Euros). The host stayed in regular contact via WhatsApp. I am not Generation Z; hence, this was a new experience. I had forgotten that this was an accommodation with self-check-in and check-out. After sending a photo of my passport and my address via the mobile phone, I received the code for a box on the front door, which contained the key and a smartcard. There is no hotel-like smartcard reader outside the flat; it is a number pad, but it acts like a smartcard reader. Inside the flat, you have a QR code, but luckily also guidance on paper (and excellent information about sights, restaurants, and recommended walking routes). The silent AC and TV with international channels (which I barely used) work perfectly -- It is a little strange to never see your host, neither at arrival nor departure. However, the host was very kind and patient with this elderly gentleman, and I am grateful for that.
Little errors are just human, and I do not know until now what would have happened, had I noticed late at night that I lost the smartcard or left it within the flat. This made me a little paranoid. Please, note that there is a smartcard holder inside the flat, as you find them in hotels. However, luckily it is not needed for electricity to work. It has no function. Therefore, the common mistake in hotels to leave the card inside the room and shut the door can be avoided. -- Regarding the city, Split is a wonderful place but next time I would not visit from June to August, when it is flooded by cruise ship travellers and even youth hostels charge very high prices.

Verified reviewA very beautiful apartment — clean and spacious. The location is excellent, with all the transport options we needed nearby (buses and boats), and it’s very close to the Old Town. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend it!

Verified reviewVery comfortable bed Good air conditioning Good shower
Nothing can be changed but the room is small, the bathroom is incredibly small Location is ok, 5 minute walk to town but size of room, could have stayed in heart of town and had a view instead. OK for 1 or 2 nights, not any more

Verified reviewReally well organized hotel like apartment close to the town center, beach and harbour. The owner was very helpful, also when we forgot our key inside once.
It was a bit difficult to find a free parking spot but we always found one half a chilometre from the apartment.

Verified reviewLocation is really good, the main promenade is just a few metres away. The place itself is nice, you can experience the old town of Split. There are all kitchen utensils you may need. Some complementary drinks and chocolades, found one from our hometown (!).
TV set was not working, though the host suggested to fix it. We had noisy neighbours living upstairs. Probably the child was running up and down the stairs in the middle of the night really loudly.

Verified reviewRoom was cute, modern and clean. There was everything you need for a short stay. Location is very good, near everything.
Iron for clothes would be a plus!
All guests have the use of an iron, an ironing horse, a broom, a vacuum cleaner... in the wall closet on the stairs. There is also a notice that there is equipment that they may need.

Verified reviewLove the size of the apartment and the cleanliness of it. Comfortable bed and clean bathroom! Well stocked with toiletries and sweet treats! Location is pretty near the old town of Split which is great.
Narrow winding stairs to the studio made it slightly difficult to manage luggage. Wrong toiletries were given, and unfortunately the host was unable to accommodate changes.
If the host leaves you coffee capsules, tea capsules, sweets, toiletries etc. as a sign of attention to the guests, we think it would be polite to thank the host instead of asking to swap toiletries and asking for more coffee capsules.
