Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwedenI travelled with my mother and my two children, and unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing from the moment we arrived. The listing clearly stated that the accommodation included amenities such as Wi-Fi, air conditioning, tv etc. However, several of these essential features were non-functional. Upon arrival, we noticed a totally broken parasol on the balcony. Inside, we found a mobile air conditioner placed on the floor with a hose going out the window. While we were willing to accept this setup, the hose was broken, which caused hot air to blow back into the room instead of cooling it. We asked the owner if he had tape so we could fix the air conditioning pipe, and he replied, "You are the ones who broke it." It later became clear that it was the previous guest who had broked it. The refrigerator didn’t work, and it appeared that the freezer compartment door had been removed—presumably in an attempt to make it cool more efficiently. There was also no Wi-Fi available. When I raised this issue, the owner provided a SIM card as a solution. I have an international subscription, and my mother, who is a pensioner, uses a different subscription. To make a long story short, she had no internet during her stay. The TV did not work either. This was never fixed during our stay either. After three days, the water heater broke down completely, leaving us without hot water. The owner offered us the shower upstairs. I asked whether it would be possible to move to another room, but this request was denied. When the owner asked if everything was okay, I explained that we had paid a considerable amount of money for a property where nothing was working and that we were very disappointed. His reaction was both aggressive and inappropriate—he became angry and started shouting and swearing at me. He told me I should be “grateful and that I should work on myself.” Neither I nor my mother would have complained if the basic amenities had worked as promised.

CroatiaUnfortunately a lot of things. Before booking, I read the reviews, and since some negative reviews were a year or more old, it was to be expected that everything was fixed and corrected. This is how responsible landlords work. Unfortunately that was not the case. We had a negative experience like some of the guests before us. When we arrived and the owner showed us the apartment, everything seemed fine at first, but then when we opened the windows and switched on the lights, on closer inspection we realised that the price we had paid was too high for what we found. There was no WIFI in our apartment, the bathroom door would not close, we had no water over the sink, the toilet seat could not be fixed, it was obvious that the apartment was not very clean, there was a strong odour in the apartment that was constantly present and we could not ventilate. Only the bed linen was clean and neatly ironed. The apartment is designed for 4 people, there were three of us and we couldn't sit down and have breakfast normally. There is no table with chairs to sit down and eat. There are two wobbly chairs and a wobbly table on the narrow balcony and you are afraid to put anything down for fear of it breaking. We chose the apartment because we sometimes want to cook for ourselves or go out to a restaurant in the evening. Here we were forced to eat in restaurants because the hobs weren't work for cooking. I couldn't cook, not even make a simple coffee. The owner didn't apologise when we told him about all the shortcomings. When we told him that we couldn't prepare breakfast eggs for the child, the owner briefly recommended restaurants and that was the end of his story. This is our first such unpleasant experience in Croatia. Unfortunately, it cannot be recommended until everything written and unwritten is put in order.
Only the location and the view from the balcony are the great things.

SerbiaMy stay was very disappointing. There was no hot water, and the Wi-Fi didn’t work despite being listed. When I reached out to the host, their response was not just unhelpful but outright rude. They dismissed my concerns, telling me to “go buy a SIM card, it costs like two beers,” and implied that I shouldn’t care about basic amenities like hot water or internet access. The lack of care and disrespect from the host made an uncomfortable situation even worse. I cannot recommend this property to anyone.

GermanyThe hotel keeps two big dogs which bark at guests and one even tried to attack me. The owner of the hotel does not want to remove the dogs, saying that they belong to her father and brother which makes no sense because it is a family business. The owner is not in the hotel most of the time, so if this happens you have to deal with the dogs by yourself. There also was no key from the balcony in the room and they did not fix it, because they would need to change the door (it is very old and the lock cannot be simply changed). Everything looked friendly from one side, but from the other side nothing really was done to fix this.
It’s close to the see, the rooms look nice
