How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe staff was super friendly and helped us with the luggage and the parking. We only could stay one night and since it was raining we couldn't use the pool but it looked very nice. Location close to the center, a bit uphill but luckily they helped us with the suitcases.
The room didn't have a closed wardrope. No elevator.

Verified reviewGreat location, really close to the old town - only 10 mins walk from the old town and 15 to the bus and ferry but much quieter and more relaxed. A little oasis tucked away in the hustle and bustle of Split. Pool area was fantastic, an absolute joy to relax there after a long day and the room was lovely, a beautiful room with great aircon and WiFi. Staff were really nice and helpful.
Lots of steep stairs- not an issue for us but may effect other guests

Verified reviewA great location in the old town, the pool area although small was a great facility to have for a quick dip and a bit of R&R. The hotel was exceptionally clean and the staff welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was a treat served less than a 5 minute walk away at a lovely restaurant overlooking the waters edge.
My only issue was we had booked a room for 3 adults and although it would have suited quite well 2 adults and a child, the extra bed was not really suitable for an adult. The room however was lovely decorated, finished well, Rituals toiletries and exceptionally clean. Although the room did not have a balcony there was easy access to a lovely shared terrace that was quiet and furnished well.

Verified reviewThis hotel is just so beautiful and quaint. It is small but perfect for what we wanted. The pool is so lovely. The staff were also super friendly, with a relaxed, laid back and personal approach.

The service throughout the hotel was great, with the staff being incredibly friendly, attentive, and helpful at all times. They truly went above and beyond to ensure a comfortable and memorable stay although it was short. I highly recommend this hotel.

Verified reviewEven though our rooms weren't together, it was not a problem as the hotel is only small. Free tea & coffee in the room was a nice touch. They topped up with our favorite. Beds so comfy. Even when we were out early for an excursion & would not make breakfast, they organised a take-out box that they picked up for us. It wasn't too much trouble. Very friendly staff.

Verified reviewA cute little boutique hotel in such a great location. A short walk to Diocletian’s palace and the old town but situated in an area which is one of the older parts of Split (so has stunning old houses all around). You can also find lovely restaurants in the area that are much less touristy than in the palace. We ate at Konoba Duboka Ladovina (aka Deep Shade) twice and it was delicious. We also ate at Feel Green nearby. Great coffee and delicious food. Very small place so go early! The hotel has lovely appointed rooms - ours was top floor (but one of the staff took our bags up and down for us - appreciated!). We had views across to the old town. Stunning. There’s also a pool which is so needed in the height of summer. Extremely friendly and helpful staff in this family run hotel. Highly recommend. You are also close to the walkway up to the viewpoint above Split called Marjan - well worth the walk. Thank you for making our stay so great!

Verified reviewThis place was amazing! I booked more based on practicalities - location, pool, room for us and room for the teenage kids. This place was just fantastic. Pool was a great place to come and relax after being in the heat of the town. Location was fantastic to walk into the old town for dinner. The rooms were lovely. We had the top floor which had two bedrooms and a bathroom which suited our family of 4 wonderfully. Staff were so friendly. Thinking of booking a return trip next year. Thank you Hotel Agava - we had a lovely time with you!!

Steps to get to room, and room size was a little small being in the loft

Verified reviewGreat family rooms at the top of the building with sea views. The rooms and bathroom were modern, clean and comfy. Perfect for a family of 4. The pool was a welcome facility in the heat of summer.
There were lots of ants in the room (although it was clean) and these got into our luggage etc. For most of our stays in Croatia, breakfast was included in the price. As one of the most expensive hotel stays on our trip, it was disappointing that breakfast wasn’t included.
