How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewLarge apartment. Everything we needed to have a relaxing and nice time while exploring Split. The host was great at communication and getting us in easily. Waking distance to some cute restaurants and the water way. Would definitely stay here again. Eat at Fat Boar and have the BEST chicken sandwich and order this special Croatian wine liquor!

The behavior of the stuff, no one at the reception. u need to do evrthing by yourself, and the women was so rude on the phone , and still no one came to the reception .. the location is near to a helicopter base.. belive me u can't sleep at all. I strongly dont recommend this place.
According to late check-in after hours from house rules this is really anapproptiate comment. Free upgrade, longer check-out and assistance for many things You were free to ask at late night is more than good sides of a property. Not sure who exactly was rude to You because of email communication and not answering our calls neither opening a door. We always do our best. Next time You travel please make sure to respect house rules to places You visit.

Verified reviewLocation is good and hotel is very clean. The area has a lot of restaurants and a quite beach.
The staff was very unhelpful. I was just a few minutes late to the check-in time (8 pm!), also telling them in advance, but no one was there to let me in when we arrived. We had to call multiple times to finally find someone to help us. Also no instructions provided when checking in. When we asked why there is no warm water coming from the shower in the morning, the staff just said annoyingly that we should have listen to the instruction which we didn't get!

Verified reviewExtremely disappointed - unprofessional and dishonest behavior We had a very disappointing experience with this hotel. One day before our check-in, we contacted the hotel directly to ask if we could cancel our reservation for free. They clearly told us that it would be possible without any fees. Based on this, we contacted Booking.com to proceed with the cancellation. However, when Booking.com reached out to confirm with the hotel, they suddenly denied ever agreeing to a free cancellation. As a result, we lost €350. This behavior is completely unprofessional. If the hotel had simply told us from the beginning that free cancellation was not possible, we could have made an informed decision. Instead, they gave us false information, which led to multiple calls with Booking.com and, ultimately, a significant financial loss. This kind of dishonesty and lack of accountability is shameful. We feel misled and deceived. A hotel that treats guests this way does not deserve their trust or their business. We will never book with them again and strongly caution others to think twice before doing so.

It is not our thing to take care of Your decision because You found something cheaper and wanted to cancel last minute (as You said on the phone). If you’re sensitive to noise, there is a helicopter pad next to apartments and it can be noise when helicopters land or take off. Although, these are helicopters that transport sick people from islands to nearby hospital, so they didn’t fly often and don’t have a schedule.

Verified reviewBeautiful view. Very quiet. 25-35 minute walk into the harbour. Apartment was spotless. We had our towels changed every day.
Due to the long walk you would need to uber to the port. Traffic can be heavy sometimes, we missed our boat by a few minutes due to the unpredictable heavy traffic.

If I am paying extra money to get a room with a balcony, I want a room with a balcony. However, when I came to the room, I stayed in a room with only 1 window. Since I was going to stay there for 1 night, I did not have the energy to talk to the person concerned. So I couldn't stay where I wanted for the money I paid. No explanation was given. I don't recommend trusting this place because they charge you extra money for nothing. Don't tell me, "Why didn't you share this situation with us? You are the one who should have thought about it and the requested room was chosen.

The room didn’t match the pictures on booking.com. There is no sea views from the room There was an issue finding the key for the apartment. They definitely don’t have a good system for checking in. The parking it costs €10 and the information is not provided prior booking. Kettle smelled of vinegar.

Kettle is treated to be fresh and clean for every other use so I might say this is pro side. You didnt book a doom with sea view at all but have got an apartment with sea view so this is really non sense comment. Private parking is marked as additional cost when taking a reservation. Verified reviewThe apartment with partial sea view balcony. It was great! Spacious, very clean and the bed was comfortable. The kitchen has the basics of plates, glasses, utensils. (You need your own cooking oil, spices everything else) The woman who cleans and checks in on your needs daily is a sweetheart. The washing machine was convenient and there's a nice big rack to hang clothes to dry which fit perfectly on the balcony. It's a lovely walk 35- 45 min walk from Old Split. I happen to like the area and the walk so that was ok for me. It was quiet when the balcony door and windows etc are all shut.
The washer could use a little card with instructions. The shades in the bedroom could use instructions. There is a hospital where helicopters land directly across the street. At first I was shaken up by how loud it was but when I realized what it was i wasn't bothered (it passes) but people should know about it before renting. My neighbors (two men) were up all night talking loud and smoking on their balcony right next to mine. When I shut my balcony I couldn't hear them but perhaps some basic rules would be helpful. The next day, a group of girls were having a party and the sound was fine, just having fun but it seemed like they all smoked. So I was unable to enjoy my balcony because of all the constant cigarette smoke. Smoking allowed on the balcony and decks should not be advertised as a smoke free property. Another issue is advertising the small rooms with photos of the sea view balconies. I thought I was booking an apt with balcony. When I showed up it was a tiny room with no balcony, no kitchen. I was able to move to an apt but for much more money than I had planned.
Thank You for staying with us! Basic house rules are well-known but unfortunately we cannot have a control 24/7 about guests behaviour. Will note all this suggestions, for sure. According to booking of a room instead of an apartment, it is all noted over a platform. There is difference over prices depends what You book for. Thanks!

I liked it allot because it is situated on top of a cliff just behind the beach.There is a starway from the appartment down and you are directly on the beach! for someone in tranzit I highly recomand.you can walk and relax on the beach. very nice view.
