How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe accommodation had everything you needed even a well equipped kitchen if you wanted to cook. The location was perfect right in the city center with a lot of restaurants and cafés around and the MTR in walking distance as well. Also the host was super friendly and responsive for any questions or help I needed during my stay. I would definitely come back in the future

Verified reviewI had room B, which had a window and a good AC unit. I really liked the concept of the bunk bed with space underneath to store your stuff. The apartment was clean and tidy and while I was there quiet but I think there were only 1-2 other guests. I didn't use the kitchen but appreciated there was a hairdryer. Information provided by WhatsApp was helpful. The bathroom was functional and clean enough (until one guy missed the toilet while peeing...) but not particularly nice.
The entry through a garage and a staircase (no lift!) with trash and rat poison was not a warm welcome but thankfully also not a sign about the apartment. As others have written, the beds are high, small and a bit unstable. I was fine but if you're big in any dimension this wouldn't be ideal.

Verified reviewThe single room had the basics, hangers, cable, desk, Bunkbed. truly a single room with enough privacy. In the shared space, kettle, microwave, small fridge, shampoo, body wash, conditioner.
If you happen to be in the same apartment as another guest who’s a slob, the shared bathroom is pretty gross.

Verified reviewThe location. It was not far from the public transportation and eateries.
Before my trip, the staff insisted that I must send a copy of my passport and itinerary for security reasons. I was puzzled. Throughout my decades of travel, I did not encounter any hotel or hostel that required these documents. After I sent a copy of my passport, the staff kept demanding my itinerary. I did not send my itinerary as it contained my booking reference number. It could be abused before my official online check-in for my flight. Subsequently the staff cancelled my reservation just a few days before my departure. The staff instated my reservation again after I had sent my itinerary. That was after I had done my online check-in. It was very stressful. The double-deck bed was unstable and dangerous. I fell and injured my shin. Throughout my stay, I did not meet any of the staff. The stafff could only be contacted through WhatsApp. The staff said that they were not in Hong Kong.

Verified reviewA cheap, clean and quiet option in wan chai causeway bay location. The shared area was kept clean and well organised
I am 84kg. I was not able to climb up into the bunk bed without the structure leaning towards me. It May be better if they fix the bed to the wall for safety reasons. Also the entrance is inside a car park or lorry loading area.

Verified reviewLoved my stay, having my 'own' tiny apartment in the center of Hong Kong. Easily accessible, affordable, and with a kitchen! The check in and check out is super easy! Will definitely came again!
Would be nice to have a tiny table and a seat inside the kitchen.

Verified reviewGood location, good option considering Hong Kong's housing crisis.
It was written that it had air conditioning and that is not techically true. What it has is a set of fans all around the apartment (2-3 in my room), which are not enough for Hong Kong's hot weather in August (on those days when it doesn't rain).

Verified reviewI could not find another private room for anything close to this price in Hong Kong. The manager of this property is exceptionally helpful and replies to messages quickly. This is a flat with 6(?) rooms and 1 shared kitchen and 1 bathroom. All areas of the flat were clean and tidy. The room has a desk, chair, bunk bed, rail with hangers, and a window with a thick curtain. The bedding felt clean and new. The mattress was much softer than many others I’ve slept on in Asia. I am 188cm/90kg; I think anyone larger than me might struggle to fit. I would stay here again if I visited Hong Kong.
The space is very compact, but this is a budget room in HK so it’s to be expected. The air conditioner in my room was very noisy. I gave feedback to the owner after I left and she replied promptly, promising to look into it.

Verified reviewhow cheap the room was. I liked the host who communicated very well. The location is good value for the money.
the space is very small, I felt a trash can is needed in the room. host communicates so well on whatsapp but didn't prepare me for my 20kg suitcase to carry up the stairs.

Verified reviewRoom was exactly what I needed. Small but fit all my things and the fan made it a comfortable temperature. Location is great. Facilities are simple but it has everything you need for a place to sleep and get ready for the day. Host gave excellent instructions on how to get in and leave the room. Also they messaged to make sure I’d found it ok which was very thoughtful. It is very clean.
If you are tall this might not be a suitable option. The bed is quite short, which was fine for me (5’3”) but if you’re much taller it might be difficult to lay down straight. The bunk is high and quite narrow so if you turn a lot in your sleep might also be an issue.

Verified reviewKitchen was nice
Check in didnt work. Needed to wait in the hallway and open one of the locks myself without the code. Room wasnt cleaned. Needed to change rooms and wait in the room. One day the government was at the door, telling me that this is an illegal guesthouse in a residential building... Didnt stay all my nights there, left early. Late checkout would have been more expensive than one extra night leaving my luggage there for a couple hours was not possible. So I booked something else and paid double for two nights..

Verified reviewYou might be unlucky and get a room with poor ventilation. I am certain of this because I woke up at 6:00 AM simply due to a lack of air. My watch indicated that I had low blood oxygen levels. Overall, everything is fine, but if you are a large person and breathe heavily in your sleep, I recommend renting a place with a window.

Verified reviewFantastic Information exchange how to behave, how to get there and how to get into the apartment. My room and shared bathroom was very clean and everything worked perfect. Ideal for exploring HK a couple of days! Also the location on HK island was good as some restaurants and the tram+bus station is < 5 mins walk away.
The bed was a bit short and made noises when turning in the night. However for a couple of days no issue.
