Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ThailandThe location is a bit hidden and I had trouble finding it on the day I arrived.
The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. I liked the hotel’s eco-friendly policy of not using plastic bottles — water and coffee are available at reception instead. It might be less convenient for some, but I didn’t mind and appreciated the effort. Overall, a pleasant stay.

United KingdomTea making facilities were in the room (kettle & cups) but no tea bags or coffee. When we checked out we saw slippers and coffee tea bags in the reception lounge. This is not a big issue but it would have been nice to be told this on check-in. No drinking water in the room and you need an empty bottle to get water at a drinking station.
Very good location, 15 minutes walk from airport express train even at my slow pace. Public transport was just one street away. Comfortable beds. Even though there was an im room letter apologising for construction noise, we found it very quiet and as only 3 rooms per floor minimal noise from people walking past the room.

Didn't have breakfast, in fact I don't believe they serve it. I am familiar with Hong Kong and the location is excellent. The room was good but as seems to be the norm these days somewhat small.

New ZealandI found the bed too hard, so not as comfortable sleep as I'd have liked. A toilet brush in the bathroom would have been good. Very poor choice with channels on TV.
Staff helpful & friendly. Complimentary items much appreciated (slippers, pens, T/coffee etc) Cold water dispenser & a coffee machine in reception.

This is the 2nd time we’re stayed at Butterfly on Wellington. We chose it for its location. So central & convenient. So many little local restaurants, cafes & cha charn teng near the hotel. And the fresh market too. A lot of local HK flavour in the neighbourhood. I love it! The room has a lot of drawers, cupboard & wardrobe space. It’s spacious enough & very clean. The staff is always cheerful, friendly & very helpful. So are the cleaning staff. I will recommend this hotel anytime.

United StatesReally nothing to complain about. The room was a bit dark, but that was fine because we were just there for sleeping.
Great location -- easy walk to virtually everything we wanted to do. Busy street but our room was not noisy. Many food options nearby. Relatively quick walk to airport express as well. Bed was comfy and space adequate. Favorite perk was the pocket wifi that was included with our room -- a small charger sized device that you carry around with you during the day and provides you with free wifi anywhere. My husband and I were able to both use it simultaneously everywhere we went. Saved on our data and was just a neat new tool I'd never seen before. Free coffee in the lobby in the morning.

United StatesThe rooms are close together, so conversations in the hallway—or even in neighboring rooms—carried easily into mine. Signs reminding guests to keep voices down in shared areas could help. Also, the room doors slam unless closed gently, so it was jarring each time a neighbor came or went. I wore high-quality earplugs to avoid being woken by people returning to their rooms late at night.
Great location and very helpful and friendly staff. It was clean and well serviced. The shower was excellent. I stayed for 5 days and then extended for another 3. It became my home in Hong Kong.
