Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Hong KongThe room was a bit pricey for Lamma Island, but this is Hong Kong so it is understandable. There wasn't much space to walk around the bed to the balcony, and the balcony was a bit small - but once again, this is Hong Kong, and having a balcony is a luxury in Hong Kong! Especially one right by the ocean with such a view. On the first night, the music was quite loud beneath my room in the restaurant next door, so I had to sleep with earplugs, but the other nights were okay. Although the staff were lovely, not all of them spoke english, so it made it a bit difficult to communicate at first, but then they gave me a whatsapp number to communicate with, so it was easier after that.
I loved the view, the balcony was amazing! I heard the water lapping on the beach next to my room through the day and night which was very soothing. Also I loved the bright happy sunny walls, the size of the room was good, and I'm so glad I had a kitchen. The accessibility to the town, the ferry pier, the restaurants and beach was all great. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. It was all perfect for my time there. Thank you!

Hong KongThe welcome could certainly be warmer, and it's a shame there's no help with cleaning or tidying during the stay.
Sweet rooms, a nice view and good BBQ facilities on the rooftop - as well as the very practical location.

United KingdomIt was good value for money , so there was nothing to dislike!
Small but perfectly formed! We arrived late on a Saturday night, and had the Sunday to meet someone, before leaving on Monday lunchtime , so booked somewhere near the ferry! Everything we needed was there! Hot water , kettle, comfy bed and lots of power points! They have many sizes of room at The Bali,so for longer stay I would get a bigger room. Recommend!

Hong KongVery hard, not comfortable pillows. I asked to empty garbage cans in the morning and the lady from reception brought us garbage bags in the afternoon to help ourselves.

AustraliaIt was fine. Just as I expected.
Location was great. Close to Ferry Wharf, Shops, Walks etc. Room was clean, but basic. Good shower with hot water, balcony, air con. Be aware that this area of Lamma is bustling. The rooms in this hotel are directly above restaurants and also on the main pedestrian street. It isn't noisy in any horrible way like motorbikes or drunks or anything. But it isn't silent. You will hear people enjoying dinner and walking past, at least until around 10-11PM.

United KingdomSomehow I expected Lamma to be quiet and peaceful and hippyish. However- There certainly are a lot of American ex-pats in the village, and so it has a very western feel. Not the property's fault, but Lamma is bang under the flight path from Lantau, for major flights that are still climbing, they fly all night, this was very noisy. A group of ex-pat elderly men, sat outside a shop, next door drinking and talking very loudly until 02:30. The bins and refuse depot (clean and not smelly) just in front of the hotel , has a lot of action early morning. Plus the seafood restaurants on the front noisily set up and ready themselves from about 5:00 am. As a consequence this is a very noisy place to stay- if you have a room facing the bay. Its often the case in other places in the world. If you want a very quiet stay, other locations may be better. If you want to be in the centre of the action, its the place to be. The smell of cooking from the Thai, and Indian restaurants on the ground floor (which are both great) is non stop, not a great problem, but bad for the diet!
The apartments are in a great location, only about 100 meters from the Yung Shue Wan ferry terminal on a flat walk. Great location with good views, close to everything in the village and easy to access the island trails and walks. The apartment was very well equipped, with air con, heaters, microwave and kettle etc. It was clean but but not modern. The staff were very helpful and friendly, Teh apartments have a great roof top bbq area, overlooking the bay, which is available to rent. I didnt do this, but it looked fantastic, and would be so different for a family. or group pf friends.

Hong KongThe hotel is our go to place when we stay on Lamma. It's there as soon as you get off the ferry and there's plenty of bars and restaurants around it. My family and I love staying here.

MacaoKeep in mind this is HK - and Lamma, which doesn’t have a lot of choices - so it will be HK prices. This means you’re paying more than you should for the facilities but it’s pretty normal for HK. I didn’t like the bathroom this time just because it would be completely soaked after a shower… really inconvenient, didn’t have that problem in rooms I’ve stayed before though, so maybe bad luck with this one. The walls are pretty thin - you can hear the neighbours. If you like to sleep early maybe the one with balcony is not great for you as it’s facing the main road from the pier - so late comers and early goers for the boats and also friendly meetings downstairs that might run late can be a bother.
We’ve stayed at Bali before and this time we stayed in a room with balcony for the first time. Balcony was great, even though not huge. The bed is not big but it’s super comfortable. The room had microwave, cutlery, plates, fridge and kettle, which is pretty convenient. The staff is super, super, super nice and available. WiFi works great and there’s hot water with nice pressure. There’s a bbq on the rooftop which is a plus. Right next to the pier which can be super convenient. A bunch of shops open till late and amazing restaurants downstairs.

AustraliaWe had asked for a quiet room but ended up in one facing the harbour overlooking the Indian restaurant and it was quite noisy on one of the three nights. To be fair though it was a holiday weekend so there were extra people about, including in the hotel. If it hadnt been fully booked they wouldve changed our room to a quieter one.
Its a friendly conveniently located place to stay, and clean. Although the space was small and a bit shabby looking it was sufficient and well organised and fine for a four day stay.

United KingdomWhilst a very safe location and island, the patio doors had a basic chain lock, the actual door lock was broken. Mentioned it and they said they would fix, just not in time during our stay. You have a safe anyways, so that's good.
Location, cleanliness, friendly helpful staff. Bed was very comfortable. Plenty of power outlets for all mod-cons we carry now-a-days, incl USB too, bonus ;)
