Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaIt was super hot at night (to be expected in the jungle). Got a room with a fan, but it turned so slowly that it didn't make much difference. Sleeping fitfully for 2 nights was more than enough for me. Power was limited to certain hours which is fair enough, but those hours seen to be when most people are doing their Tikal tours, do that doesn't work out that well. But I was able to charge just enough to get me through.
Stunning location in the middle of the jungle.

United StatesIt is very clear in the listing that there is no ac/power after 9pm. But it got VERY hot, we had no wind blowing in the room so we were only able to sleep for about 2 hours a night and would wake up drenched in sweat.
The location, the staff, the pool!!

Perfectly located hotel for trips into Tikal with entrance just a 5 minute walk away. Comfortable room, lovely grounds and pool. Restaurant also served great food. Great wildlife all around too.

United KingdomThere is no aircon in the room we stayed in. There is a big ceiling fan, but the power cuts at 9pm, so if you find it hard to sleep in the heat, this might not be the place for you. The electricity is only available in the morning and evening, so our phones kept running out of power - bring a fully charged battery pack.
There’s a lovely swimming pool - which is very welcome after a day’s hiking. The room was comfortable and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful.

AustraliaNice spot in the jungle to relax after Trooping around the archeological park of Tikal. Pool is refreshing and restaurant delicious. Of course there are animals, bugs, limited power supply... But you have a roof over your head, a comfy bed and mosquito net. It's Glamping! And it is in the National Park and a few minutes walk to the gate that will take you to the amazing archeological site of Tikal!

PortugalElectricity only available at certain times (6:00-8:00, 12:00-14:00, 18:00-20:30 -> or similar), this meant a super hot room at night as the ceiling fans didn't work. We used our powerbanks to charge our phones. Water pressure/temperature wasn't the best. If you're sensitive to insects inside the room, maybe just stay at another location outside of the park, it's inevitable and they will find a way inside (think spiders, gekos etc) -> not a problem for us at all, just a remark.
Perfect location, 5min walk to the park's entrance. At night it felt like we were in the middle of the jungle with the all the jungle sounds. Truly one of the highlights of the trip. (I'd recommend doing a sunrise hike in the park as well). Good restaurant and breakfast options. Very nice swimming pool and pool area. Room was very clean and spacious. Each bed had a mosquito net and all the windows too.

South AfricaThe information supplied on Tikal tickets (automatically I think) added to the confusion. I was under the impression I needed park tickets to get to the hotel, which is not the case. The hotel is located in the park and is effectively off-grid. Solar installations provide light and fans in the rooms, but not A/C, it takes a while for the air to cool at night. The power supply in the rooms is only a USB plug point, devices may have to be charged at Reception. Like many places in the region, red wine is served at room temperature - ie blood heat !
The location is easy walking distance from the Tikal entry checkpoint. Reception staff were very helpful (and spoke good English !), the room - poolside - spacious and comfortable, if very warm. Restaurant food was ok, the staff again friendly and helpful.

GermanyOur plugs for loading our mobiles didn't work properly, so it's good to bring a fully loaded powerbank. The palapas are quite hot, the fan doesn't really bring relief. But the pool does...
The lush jungle around here is gorgeous. If you are interested in Nature, come here. We saw Toucans and other exotic birds, the spider monkeys have their sleeping trees 20 m behind the hotel. Howler monkeys are also around here and it is a show to watch them when they mark their territory. The hotel rooms are extremely clean, no bugs inside. The Palapas are spacious, the food in the restaurant is fresh, nice and reasonably priced. The staff is very nice, but only the Hotel manager speaks English. It's wonderful to take a refreshing bath in the Pool after an exhausting walk through Tikal and to sip a cold beer. Clear recommendation for this nice hotel.

There are only three accommodation options and this was the cheapest. It had everything you needed and was comfortable for a jungle accommodation. Glad we stayed here rather than Flores!

United StatesWe booked and completed both the sunset and sunrise tour. The sunset tour was excellent, but we were a bit disappointed in the organization of our sunrise tour. For the price we were paying, we assumed that it would be a private tour, (as it was for the sunset tour), and had arranged with our guide to leave a bit early the next morning in order to beat the crowds coming from Flores--which was the entire point of us booking this more expensive accommodation in the park. However, we ended up being in a slightly bigger group, which was fine, except that we had to wait for everyone to get ready, and by that time, there were probably about 100 people in the line ahead of us, (buses arriving from Flores), which resulted in us getting into the park itself at 5 AM, instead of 4... Which makes a huge difference when you only have a few hours to check it out! Then, after the sunrise, our guide proceeded to take the group back on the same route that we had already completed the day before during the sunset tour, so we ended up seeing some of the temples twice, and some of them not at all. Both tours were still spectacular! But at the end of the day, we paid a lot of money to stay there and for the tours so that we could have extra time in the park/really explore and have a tailored experience... And that wasn't the case for the sunrise tour. **Note that I do not blame the guides at all--they were excellent, knowledgeable, helpful, fun, and I wholeheartedly recommend doing both tours! I would, however, try to confirm with the hotel ahead of time regarding group sizes/departure times, as even leaving a few minutes late can dramatically increase the queue size.**
Great location, in the middle of the jungle, just minutes from the ruins! Nice pool and garden area for relaxing. Very comfortable beds. Great guides for the sunset/sunrise tours!

United KingdomThe restaurant was just 'ok'. Very basic. The swimming pool was green whilst we were there due to algae so it put us off using it.
the bungalow we were in was a good size, clean and comfortable. Bathroom was as also good. The location was exceptional. We enjoyed staying in the park as it saved a day return trip and allowed for a sunrise/ sunset tour. The staff were friendly and helpful.

BelgiumThere was only one electrical plug in my room and I couldn’t charge my phone or power bank because my plug wouldn’t stay in the holes. I had electricity only a couple of hours during my stay, which may be standard for the hotels there. There were no cushions on the plastic lounge chairs around the pool, which was quite uncomfortable. There were lots of mosquitoes outside, especially in the evening. Would it be impossible to find an environmentally friendly insect spray? My feeling was that the hotel was much too expensive; I stayed at other hotels in different cities that cost half as much and were better. It could use an update. There was a restaurant, but I didn’t eat there.
The room was OK, the bed fairly comfortable, with a mosquito net. The bathroom was adequate but could use an update. There was no need really to put me in a room with three beds when I was on my own. There were shelves to be used. I asked the kitchen staff if I could have a cup of hot water to mix a coffee packet and they cheerfully agreed. The reception staff were also kind and helpful. The pool was nice to use on the hot days after walking in Tikal Park.

GreeceAt some point a renovation will be needed.
I was very positively surprised by Tikal Inn after having read mixed reviews. The reception staff were so polite and gave me very good advice. The room was spacious and clean and the shower hot. At night 9-6 there is no electricity but the room had windows on both sides so there was a nice breeze and slept fine. There were big mosquito nets around the bed. The swimming pool was big and refreshing and the area around it very beautiful with tall trees with lots of birds. I woke up early and was at the Tikal gate at 6 am and did my own tour. For two hours it was very quiet and saw many animals and birds.

United KingdomFriendly, helpful staff. Great pool. Very close to Tikal entrance. We were in a bungalow and had no problem with electricity or Wi-Fi. It was a large room and very comfortable. We enjoyed the breakfast and ate there one night. Food was good. We enjoyed the birds and the howler monkeys! We did a bit of walking around Tikal village and towards the crocodile reservoir (left at the end of the drive and a good 20 minutes walk). We saw lots of boat-billed herons there. We recommend the hotel and the pool was wonderful in the heat.
