How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewIt has a rustic lodge vibe.
No WiFi in the bedrooms and the restaurant and bar closed too early. Staff were not particularly helpful or friendly.

Verified reviewThe hotel’s location is unbeatable, right inside Tikal National Park, making it uniquely convenient for exploring and staying close to the ruins. The restaurant and food were overall good, and our room had been recently renovated, so it looked fresh and comfortable, though I personally would have preferred if more of the original jungle-lodge charm had been preserved.
I was quite shocked by the poor management and the way the staff seemed terrified to answer questions or even take simple orders at the restaurant. The team felt extremely rigid, and at one point I witnessed the manager openly scolding reception staff in front of guests over a minor issue. This unprofessional behavior was very evident and really affected the overall experience of the stay.

Verified reviewThe room istself is very nice and clean, the bathroom has been recently refurbished and the shower is warm. The beds are comfortable and mosquito nets are provided. The pool is nice and refreshing.
Everything is ridiculously expensive for what it is. A shuttle into Flores costs $19, and a tour costs $16. Getaway Travels in Flores will do both for $10. We booked a sunrise tour through the hostel, only to have our guide abandon us in the middle of Tikal. He told us that he would begin telling us the information at the top of Temple IV, however after an hour, once the sun had well and truly risen, we asked him when the tour would start and if we had time to go to the toilet. He said yes, wait for him down the steps by the toilet. We waited for half an hour but didn't see him, so I climbed all the way back up to the top to find he had left without us. We asked another guide for directions and managed to find our way back to the hotel where we asked for a refund, which they wouldn't give. They very kindly offered us free breakfast instead but the cost of the tour was double that of breakfast. I think it is a nice place to stay but do not book your tours or shuttle through them as they massively overcharge.

Verified reviewThe food was okay. The first night was phenomenal and the. It went down from there.
It was too hot to sleep. After two nights I lost a day of vacation to catch up on sleep. It was soooo hot. I don’t hear animals in the night that made it worth not having windows or AC. IT WAS HOT!!!!!

Verified reviewThe hotel is beautiful and set within the lush jungle surroundings of Tikal. Howler monkeys are often seen and heard (in the early morning!). There are nice dining rooms, sitting areas and a pool to relax after a hot day wandering around the amazing Tikal site. And being so close to Tikal, really saves a lot of hassle getting here and beating the crowds.
I found the hotel to be too pricey overall. The nightly rate is for room only - breakfast was not included and like with lunch and dinner, had to be ordered and paid for in the one restaurant that is on site. The food is OK, not exceptional and I found one waitress in particular who was inpatient and quite rude when I needed to explain allergies we had. There is a shuttle pick-up / drop-off from Flores but again, costly and had no flexibility - we arrived in time for an earlier shuttle than the one we booked but the staff would not ask the driver to wait for 10mins, so we could catch it. Ended up waiting 3 hours for the next one! Also, not on their hotel description but electricity is limited to certain hours (as powered by generators) and wifi only in public areas. We were fine to comply with this but have to liked to have known before hand.

Verified reviewThe location, cleanliness and amenities were wonderful.
The room was very hot and not able to cool down with the one fan. The room needs additional fans so that the guests can sleep comfortably. It was very difficult to sleep without stronger fans.

Verified reviewThe rooms are TOO HOT to sleep at night. There are no windows and often would open the door at night to cool down the room. They were so hot I didn’t sleep for the two nights there. Never again. The idea of no WiFi is nice but doesn’t really work out that great. No phone service in the event of emergency. Staff were phenomenal. First meal was AMAZING! One of the best I’ve had and went down from there. The last meal was a salad with an inch of brown water at the bottom, not sure if it was from the beans or dirt from the lettuce but inedible. The desert was good. Back to the rooms, when you don’t sleep you need to make up for it another day of your travels. I lost a day to rest from no sleep. Definitely NOT worth it. I didn’t hear animals at night or the morning that needed to have no windows. Lack of lights at certain hours is strange. Big no thanks. I would stay in Flores and take a bus over to the park. Absolute waste of time trying to sleep in these rooms. You can hear all of your neighbors because no one has windows, just screens. Awful. The rooms were mostly clean, a few questionable things. My first room didn’t have hot water, I figured it was part of no ac, no wifi, no lights but my next room had hot water. Big nope for me.
No windows. No A/C. No wifi. No lights at night.

Verified reviewThe location is great in the Tikal national park.It is good for travellers without their own transportation.
We booked a junior suite and as per the answer from the booking.com chat bot "All Suites are equipped with AC",which was not right. The room was equipped with a bath tube and without warm water supply for any of the outlets. The restaurant has a strange cuisine interpretation.

Verified reviewEverything! Great lodge inside Tikal national park, a walking distance from the park’s highlights. Great restaurants very good cocktails. The lodge provides guided tours of the park in a reasonable price. Prior to the check in date they sent all the relevant information and tips.

Verified reviewIt was a beautiful hotel.
The pool could use a little sprucing up. It didn’t seem to match the upscale look of the rest of the hotel. But it was very nice to be able to cool off after walking through Tikal in the heat.

just about everything The driver that was to pick me up at Flores airport didn't and they hotel didn't care or do anything to help. The woman that booked my transfer did not tell me where to meet the shuttle, I was at departures but the driver knew he was short one and didn't look for me. no wifi in the rooms!!!!WTF???? for that price, you kidding?? The cobble walks were problematic. I felt it was not a welcoming place.
