Vibe was very relaxed, sometimes a bit too relaxed because we had to wait quite long for transportation to the nature reserve and shuttle buses.

Restaurant and chill area are very nice! View at the river, a pool table, swimming pool and many options for drinks and food.

We were told the shuttle to bus station was free and that reception should respond all the time however after 9 reception shuts and didn’t reply to texts. We only got told on the day we left that the shuttle back to bus station isn’t available even if we offered to pay but was available if we booked our bus through the hostel so we had to wave down a TukTuk with all of our bags last minute which was a bit frustrating when the shuttle was already going there anyway with our friends and had room for us. Every other hostel in area seemed to have free shuttles both ways too.

And had a very small group which meant we could go as fast or slow as we wanted. Private rooms were spacious and toilets were close. Hot showers were lovely and the food in the restaurant was reallly tasty Hostel was quiet in evenings which was nice as we heard other son area were loud all night

This place is great. The staff are friendly and accommodating when requiring assistance. The food is fresh and tasty, and the drinks are reasonably priced. The Wifi can only be obtained from the restaurant bar area. This area is a fabulous and functional communal area. There is a pool table, a table tennis table and games available as well. You can swim in either the pool or the wonderful river. If you want to have some fun try the tubing down the river rapids; great fun. There are plenty of hammocks in the garden area if you just want to read a book.

beautiful resort on the river bank with in about 20 min drive from Semuc Champey. The communal area / restaurant in near the pool and great for chill and dine. the staff is super helpful and nice.

Party hostel by proxy is the most accurate description, more or less silent from our own bar from 10/11 PM. However, noise from nearby hostels, which isn't quiet at this hour, can be heard. Don't think it is much that can be done, but be aware of late night karaoke. It's not really a problem for me, but something to be aware of

Stayed her for four nights at the dorm. Spacious rooms, with good beds and lockers (bring your own padlock) underneath. Lanquin is hot, and the dorm had only fans. Good and clean bathrooms, apparently only some with hot water, which most of the time is not needed. There is a pool to relax and also you can have a swim in the river to cool you down. Vary friendly and helpful staff, I booked my Semuc Champey tour, they also do shuttle which picks you up at hostel rather than having to go all the way to bus station on the outskirts of town. Pickups on arrival were nice. Restaurant had good food and happy hours for most of the evening. I enjoyed my stay here

-You can pay by card (with a 5% fee) at the restaurant, but not for your room, tours or shuttle services (only cash) -The swimming pool was dirty, so no one swam in it -The tubing activity was canceled with no prior notice and no explanation, even though other hostels organised tubing on that day

-Lots of space in the 4-bed girls dorm so we all had enough space. We also had a terrace with chairs and hammocks, and an amazing sunset view from our dorm - Nice restaurant, it could be improved but it’s good enough for a few days - Beautiful and quiet location. The restaurant plays music, but it’s not that loud, it doesn’t give backpacker party hostel vibes -Good WiFi at the restaurant -If you don’t want to pay for a tour to Semuc Champey, you can still arrange transportation to Semuc with them (though they don’t advertise this service) -The shuttle service they sell starts at the hotel, so you get to choose your preferred seat before everyone else. Shuttle was on time

Stayed in the 4-bed women’s dorm - because of the mirrored windows they will start pecking the roof & windows around 6am! Shower water was tepid, but survivable given the warmer outside temps. Food was abit pricier. Music choice was EDM at the bar 1 night, there was potential to play better music & perhaps at a little lower volume.

Very tranquil & relaxing settings, right by the river. All the staff were very sweet and nice. Cute, breezy, airy restaurant hangout area. Food was decent quality.

Retiro is a little slice of heaven. The location is amazing, next to the river. The rooms are big, although could use an upgrade - the beds are old and the shower could use an fix. Rest of the amenities were fine. Good choices of food and drinks. Very friendly staff and activities!

As it is a hostel, be prepared for parties, but luckily not every day, there was only on Saturday. So if you are not a party face, can be noisy.

Nice hostel in the jungle with a very good restaurant and bar! Food was very good, we loved the happy hour as well. Exactly on the bank of the river, you can swim, or using the pool. We had an own room with bathroom, it was comfortable. Bed was okay, wifi worked well near the restaurant area. We also paid for the tubing in the hostel, it was an amazing experience, thanks for our nice guide! We loved this program. It is close to town, so you can walk if you want.

Shower water was cold throughout the entire stay, but not unexpected for the jungle location

Great spot, close to Semuc Champey and set on a beautiful part of the river. They have since added a pool, which isn’t reflected in their booking.com photos which was unreal. Food is great, staff were lovely. We stayed in a private room with our own bathroom and the shower was huge. Definitely recommend for couples!

Need to say that the bathrooms weren't that clean, I don't know if they ever really cleaned it during our stay (shared bathrooms!). It was not really bad fortunately,, but could be cleaner. Also, take attention on how much you pay and how they told you to pay first (at the reception, not the bar). At the reception for the tours/shuttles and your stay you pay cash, and it was my fault at the beginning that I didn't realize that I paid more for our stay than I should've acvording to my booking. When I told them (of course you don't have a receipt), they gave us back 50% of what we paid too much. And for the tour, we realized wheb we oaid that they said sonethinh different the day before, so this time we realized. But then again for the shuttle, we paid more than we should have. It was never a lot, maybe that's why we didn't realize. But still it's something that's good to know and at the end it made the people at the reception not that friendly anymore to us. But bar/restaurant not at all, there everything was great and very friendly staff

It is a really nice place, great location, very close to everything. The room was also very nice and cozy. There's an open restaurant/bar with music and also different games like Billard. It's great to hang out, chatting, relaxing, but also would be a great place to work remotely. The conmon area really is great and for me/us ot was the perfect match of "there's something going on" but not a big party. So I could've stayed there for much longer, I really liked it a lot. And people also were very nice.

Only negatives were the loud music until the last person left the bar which didn’t fit in with the beautiful surroundings and when Zephyrs tipsy tubing group turned up, was trying to chill and watch the football but impossible with a group of loud obnoxious drunks stumbling around the bar area.

Beautiful hostel in Lanquin, the tour to Semuc Champey is well very priced, return transportation, a big lunch, multiple swimming spots, and touring through the caves for Q265. Reasonable food from in the house restaurant and very cheap beer. Definitely worth ordering a lunch to go if you’ve booked a shuttle to Flores, Rio Dulce or Lake Atitlan. Found the showers near reception to be the warmest.

We barely had any hot water in our private room. Even after mentioning it twice at the reception, it didn’t seem to solve the issue.

The lodge is at a nice location, just on the outer edge of Lanquin. It’s full of nature. The bar/restaurant offers some good meals for a reasonable price. The free pickup service from the bus station is also nice.

our room was not dirty, however, under the bed you could easily the dust and some rolls of things that should not be there... the rooms could be cleaned a little bit better.

there is absolutely no better place to be when you're in Lanquin. the restaurant serves good food, there are good options for you to enjoy your time (swimming pool, pool table, table tennis, board games, nice tours) and they can arrange your transfers from/to Lanquin.
