Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe beds on the main floor are so close to the street that the noise and cigarette smoke is annoying. I would suggest staying in an upstairs room.
It’s in a nice, safe area. The beds are very comfortable and they provide towels and a basic breakfast.

ItalyThe only minor inconvenience is that if you're staying on the first floor, the main bathrooms and showers are located on the ground floor. There are some facilities upstairs, but they aren't always available, and there's only one. However, there are plenty of bathrooms on the ground floor, so it's not a major issue overall.
Central Hostal Reforma has become my go-to in Guatemala City – I think this was my sixth stay! Its location is incredibly convenient, especially for airport transfers and accessing tourist bus services (the one to El Salvador was literally around the corner). The capsule-style beds are minimalist yet surprisingly comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. The included breakfast, with fresh fruit and pancakes, is a definite plus to start the day. Despite being close to the airport, I've always slept well and haven't been bothered by excessive noise (maybe I was always just very tired!).

AustraliaThe capsule bunks don't have individual lights. The dorm was quite cramped. There are no lockers to store your backpack. The area around the hostel can be quite noisy with bars nearby. The dorms are close to reception and a lot of street noise gets into the dorm.
The staff were fantastic. Very helpful. They packed me breakfast to take away when I had an early bus. They also acted very professionally when one of the guests got drunk and started misbehaving. The beds in the dorm are capsule style and have individual plug points. The hot water in the showers was decent Breakfast was pancakes, cereal and fruit. The hostel is kept very clean and there is 24hr reception. The hostel is very well located in zone 10. The area is quite safe and the transmetro bus service is nearby. The area is well lit and there are plenty of restaurants, large hotels and entertainment options around.

United StatesI wish the rooms where not coed. It does feel a bit intimidating knowing there is a stranger man sleeping in the same room as us women. Not all men are bad, but it's better to be safer than sorry. There should be cups available in the downstairs area for people who cannot go up the stairs or have limited mobility. There is also no other access for people to go up stairs if they have a disability.
The staff was very lovely and friendly to new coming guest. They knew the location and gave good recommendations for travelers. I was given information on where I could eat from cheap eats to more expensive. The bathrooms are coed and so are the rooms but they try to make the rooms as comfortable for the people staying as possible. They accommodated to my need of staying near the exit because of my luggage, which I am grateful for. The place was much cleaner than I expected and a lot bigger than I expected as well. Very big space where you can study, or catch up with work. The upstairs level has its own Wi-Fi along with the downstairs level. Very useful especially since the signal from my device was slow in the city. There is complimentary breakfast that was served, unfortunately I had to leave early so I can't have an opinion there. But they do have access to water there on both levels. The small kitchen area was useful too! The fridge is very big and they allow you to leave any food items you bought in there. Small stove people can use with microwave and dishes (make sure to clean up after yourself). Bathrooms on both levels. A more private one near the kitchen which is nice. Lot's of showers to use.

United StatesCentral Hostel Reforma is in the heart of hotels, grocery stores, banks, restaurants, etc. Breakfast consisted of the most fluffiest pancakes I have ever had, fruit, oatmeal, and coffee. This hostel is also minutes away from the main road where you can hop on a chicken bus to Tehola then Antigua for 40 quetzals or ~$5 USD.

United StatesRoom was pretty small but I was just there to sleep for a few hours.
Checked in at 5am and left at 10am. Hotel is a very budget friendly option. It's an inexpensive and easy Uber ride from the airport. Small double but you’re probably just there to sleep. Yummy breakfast with pancakes, fruit, etc. I would suggest earplugs in case your room faces the street. Good WiFi.
