Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PortugalDecent stay, fits the bill. It's outdated, but clean and has everything that's promised. The shower was hot and checkin/checkout process seamless. Good location in a quiet neighborhood close to the centre. If you need a budget stay in Heraklion, go for it!

I really enjoyed the premium location, close to Heraklion port and at the same time close to the center. The hotel owners are very nice people, educated and always ready to help. Parking in front of the hotel really helped.

SpainTiny and old bathroom.
Good location and confortable in case you have to take a plane or ferry. Also very near to the old town (20 minutes) and bus stops. It looks like they are improving some little details (terrace, shower head). The air conditioning works good.

AustriaIt was quite noisy, you could hear the planes even through closed windows. It was a simple accommodation as I anticipated. Close to the airport but 30 min walk (18 min bus) from the old town. Check-in and -out was very easy.

United KingdomWell, have to add that if you get annoyed by plane noise you will find it difficult, especially in the summer. If you are a pedestrian, expect to walk to and from bus stop, shops, etc., (but there is much to look at in terms of the range of domestic architecture, older houses, modern blocks). Would personally have appreciated an electric kettle for making hot drinks in room.
A non-tourist, 'normal', location with a mix of local residents all around. 100m beyond it was a great sunset view down over the harbour. Excellent bus links 150m from the hotel take you to the centre in 10-15 mins. Good choice of local shops (bakers, etc,) and eateries. On the corner is an interesting (small) area of archaeological work, revealing house remains possibly, but there is no indication. If you are a plane spotter you won't be disappointed!

AustraliaThe aircon in our original room didn't work properly so it was very hot. However when we reported it the staff moved us to a nicer room where the aircon worked great.
Location was excellent for the port. Very basic rooms but they were serviceable.

AustraliaIt was fine for a night stopover but not really in a location you would want to stay in for long. The beds were not very comfortable….thin & you could feel the springs, and the pillows were also very thin & didn’t support my neck.
It was close to the port, so we could just walk there. It was in a quiet street without the noise of traffic. However it is directly under the aeroplane flight path, so the noise from the planes is rather loud……but they did stop flying for most of the night until 5am or so. It had really good shutters for the windows and curtains too, which made the room nice and dark overnight.

United StatesThe hotel is near the airport, which is convenient but extremely noisy. The planes flying low over the hotel make a huge amount of noise and continue for much of the night. And there is a loud garbage truck right under the window around 5 a m Additionally, their elevator starts one floor up, which could be problematic for people with big suitcases. Also, the lady at reception was very nice, but spoke very little English, so couldn't really answer my question. Later, a man who spoke better English was there, also very nice.
the hotel is clean enough and the bed was comfortable. It was a double room, which was fine for me alone, but would have been very cramped for two people The room had a cute little balcony.

North MacedoniaThe hotel is very close to the airport so if you are a light sleeper maybe not a good choice. We were very tired so slept like babies though till it was time to catch the ferry.
Good place for a short stay. At a walking distance to the port so that's a plus. The room was clean and beds decent. We were about to take a ferry to Santorini for a one day visit and host kindly accepted to store our luggage at the hotel until we got back.

United KingdomI would have appreciated a desk/table in the room so that I could do some work. One of the two staff members at the reception doesn't speak English, making the communication quite difficult. The location is ~ 20 mins away from the city centre (but totally doable by foot).
The staff was kind and allowed me to leave my luggage there for the day on my last day, whilst I was out sightseeing. The room was very small, with no table/desk, but it was clean, and had a fridge with a bottle of water.
