How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.

Verified reviewFantastic Villa - felt like we had our own little corner of Greece right next to an olive grove. Great spacious outside area with loads of places to sit and lovely pool checked and cleaned every day. Inside is spacious and kept cool by aircon and fans. Everywhere is very clean, living area, bath/shower room 2 bedrooms and fridge etc on both floors (3 double bedrooms and a twin). Alex an excellent host checking and wanting us to enjoy without interfering. Only 10 minute flat walk to loads of restaurants and bars - handy to take a torch to make it safe as no pavements. Loved getting to know our little cat friend. Definitely planning to return here which says it all.

Verified reviewMy friends and I stayed in this house for a week, and we can do nothing but highly recommend it. The house is much nicer and fresher in real life than it appears in the pictures! And the host, Alex, might be one of the most understanding, helpful, and caring people we’ve ever met. He was always available to assist and was there for us from start to finish. We would highly recommend Nona’s House to anyone visiting Zakynthos, as it’s close to both Laganas and Zakynthos Town. Highly recommended!

Verified reviewThe location was basic and no foot path to town and all other transport goes from town. The walk was dangerous and difficult with dogs coming out of other properties backing and running at you.
The cost was £500 more then using other companies for the same villa.
Really surprised to receive such a bad review from your side especially since you informed our host that you were looking forward to visit us next year . Let me refresh your memory you texted Quote ..we honestly can’t wait to book with you again and i can bring my own family to paradise Unquote With all due respect your review and your personal msg cannot be explained and it is sad because you are creating a very bad mis-presentation of the reality causing us trouble in our effort to provide the best accommodation experience we can. At the same time, we cannot apologize for the infrastructure of the island or a dog coming at you . Perhaps renting a car and using it could be helpful next time . Last but not least, your comment that you can rent our house at a lower rate via other company is false, and can only assume that you checked different dates... In any case, we are sorry you feel that way and you decided to slam our house in your review. We are happy that the vast majority of our guests have a different view from yours and enjoyed all aspects of our villa .

Verified reviewThe property is very spacious and easily accommodated all guests, the two bathrooms were a must. The swimming pool and terrace area is really nice and the pool deceptively big. Our host (Alex) was on hand to answer any questions promptly. The villa is well equipped.
No negatives. The villa is on a busy main road but the grounds shelter the noise quite well and it feels quite secluded. The main strip is a 10 min walk away, there are no footpaths so care is needed when walking to the centre.

Verified reviewWe were with a group of 8 friends. It's a beautiful place to stay during your holiday on Zakynthos. The location is perfect for going out in laganas as well as exploring the island. The host Alex is very nice and helped us with a lot of things. We would definitely come back here.
The pictures do not represent the house well. If I were the owner, I would make some new ones to show the people how nice and big the house is. The pool needed some attention. The floor was clean, but there was a green border above the waterline on the walls.

However we are astonished with the cleaning rating, (7,5!!)given the fact that you were welcome to a spotless house and Alex took out two huge rubbish bags every day in order to make your stay more convenient. Let’s hope you will recognize our effort to keep the house in a good condition, in the future.

Verified reviewThis was a fantastic property- the outside facilities were perfect and the young children loved playing in the pool. The 4 bedrooms and the layout of the house was simply perfect for two young families. Alex was so helpful- I had to message him several times and he always responded and never complained at my constant questions! I would definitely recommend a stay here.
