Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FinlandNo A/C (ok on September, though). Very high pillows. Basic breakfast. I recommed not to stay for breakfast on hike day - ask for a packed breakfast on previous evening and enjoy it somewhere along the route. Then you are able to start the hike before all the Chania buses hit the entrance at 7.20.
Decent room, well cleaned, close to Samarian Gorge entrance. Hotel provides shuttle bus 3 times per day to Xyloskalos (start of Samarian gorge hike).

A great starting point for trekking. Very friendly and helpful staff with excellent knowledge of the surrounding trails. The hotel has a charming 1970s atmosphere: clean, well-maintained, comfortable, and the food is excellent. We'll gladly return.

United KingdomNothing not to like. Be prepared for its rustic charm!
An amazing location just a few km from the top of the Samarian Gorge. Definitely worth staying here for a feel of Cretan life on the plateau. The staff were absolutely lovely - so friendly and helpful. We had a fabulous home cooked evening meal, they made us sandwiches to take with us on our hike down the gorge and they looked after our luggage for us whilst we were gone for the night. I highly recommend a stay here.

United KingdomAll great
The Hotel Neos Olamos was absolutely perfect. I stayed there after my walk through the White mountains and Samaria Gorge. In the morning, I missed the bus stop for the hotel and accidentally ended up at the gorge entrance with all my luggage! I contacted the hotel and the owner came to collect my bag and looked after it until I checked in that evening! Had two homemade soups there- so delicious! Breakfast was also perfect. All well priced. The room was very comfy and so clean. Location amazing in the mountains with lots of goats for company! And the hotel cat, kaneelo (probably spelt wrong!). Check out the church 5 mins down the road and learn about its importance in Crete’s colourful history! The best thing about Neos Omalos was the staff, they were all so lovely and helpful. Thank you! 😊

The staff are very welcoming and friendly. This is an old hotel and therefore the rooms are on the small side and the facilities a bit old, so don't expect a lot of space and endless sockets. However, the position and ambience completely make up for this, and it is spotlessly clean. We love this hotel, it is our second visit and we intend to return.

UkraineThe location is perfect if you want to sleep before or after the Samaria Gorge. We've arrived to hotel at 10AM, left the bags here and went to the Gorge, then returned for the night. There's also a parking on the hotel territory. The staff is super welcoming and ready to help, they have also gave me quite a few tips and pointers for visiting Gorge, an I definitely thankful for that one! The food is homemade-like - both simply and tasty, and the breakfast is great as well. The room is small but comfy, so perfect for short stays. The bathroom is the smallest of all the hotels I've visited in Greece, but had all the amenities and was very clean, and is more than enough.

SloveniaVery nice hotel, located in the mountains. The family, who owns it, is super friendly and nice - It’s all about the energy and hospitality. The food was amazing, the room was nice and very clean. They even helped us to plan our trip to all the beautiful beaches and cute places around Chania. They have the answer to every question and we felt very welcomed during our stay. We definitely recommend it to everyone, who likes to wake up in the morning in a fresh mountain air and ready for every adventure. Thank you again for everything and God bless you :)

I loved the entire facility. I felt like part of the family. I arrived late and they still made me dinner! The girls do ceramic work and I bought one of her teacups. So nice. I had booked here because I thought I was going to hike Samaria Gorge, but decided, not to do it. I could have cancelled my room, but so glad I didn't. I absolutely loved this place. The drive gave me one of the prettiest sunsets I had seen on my vacation.

DenmarkFamily owned by really friendly Dracula-family :) It’s a very unique part of Crete, different from what mostly people will expect, up on a mountain plateau. Perfect start for the Samaria Gorge walk. You can get a ”hike-package” with you, with sandwich, fruit etc.

PolandThere was nothing we didn’t like.
The hotel is completely off the beaten path — you have to want to go there. And we did, because our goal was to stay somewhere remote, far from civilization and crowds. And we got exactly that. But what truly surprised us was the incredible atmosphere of hospitality and the unique charm of travel from decades past. I can’t quite explain it, but we felt fantastic there — as if we had taken a journey back in time. Surrounded by peace and quiet, with warm and welcoming staff, good food at the hotel, tasty breakfast, and a large free parking area. It's close to the entrance of the Samaria Gorge, and there’s a bus connection right from the hotel. The room was spacious enough, comfortable, with basic furnishings. The bathroom was like many you find in Cretan accommodations, and there was a small balcony.
