Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

PolandGreat location and view. I don't think there is a better place in Matala with better view. The apartment is very comfortable, with a fully equipped kitchen for 4 people. Large main room, proper bedroom and suitable bathroom, both rooms with air conditioning. In addition - shutters on the windows to limit the sun peeping in the morning. In the middle of our week's stay, cleaning and change of bed linen and towels. Very nice welcome fruit and cold water in the fridge. Fresh cretan olive oil is available in the kitchen. There is a set of toiletries in the bathroom. Terrace excellent and sheltered from the sun. In the whole of Matala (the old part) there is a total ban on cars, but Sophia's husband helped us with the luggage - thank you. Access to the location uphill through Greek narrow streets, but it has its charm :). Sophia, thank you for your warm welcome and care. We spent a wonderful week of vacation in Matala.

FranceThe house was perfect for us : a couple with our 11 year old son. Its location is just perfect : right above a bunch of bars and restaurants. The view from the balcony and from the inside of the apt (including the bedroom) is breathtaking. The view of the matala cliff and the sea made our evenings and early mornings just magic. The convenient proximity of the restaurants and bars might have its downsize for those with light sleep : we could hear a little bit of noise coming from the bars (this was not an issue for us). The check in process was easy : we met with a woman who gave us the keys and guided us to the appartement.

ItalyThe village is a jumble of (mostly) cheap bars, restaurants, and shops selling "hippy" junk. The idillic view from the balcony is spoiled by the constant humming of the air conditioning and recycling systems of the restaurants beneath. The humming stops around 10-11 pm, to leave the stage to loud musics that lasts till early morning. Beware: the access to the apartment is very steep and nearly impossible for people with motor disabilities.
The location is nothing but fantastic. The balcony, overlooking the bay beneath, awesome. The bay itself is a crystal-clear natural pool, just perfect for relaxed swimming.

United KingdomIt wasn’t a problem for us but note that to get to the apartment there is a short walk up a steep incline which may not be accessible for everyone.
We loved our stay at matala blue! The apartment was generously sized and had facilities that worked well for us. It was very close to the beach and town and had a great view over the bay. Our host was very friendly and helpful, she and her husband came over to fix the shower head very quickly after it had broken, and even messaged to check that we were ok after the earthquake! I would recommend this apartment to all my friends and family.
