How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

A good place to explore Crete. Close to nice beaches. Nice and helpful owners. Good food in the restaurant. Parking space.

There's nothing to dislike with this amazing place.
Since I am professional tour guide and tour leader, I started consider that I am not eligible to left comments and ratings since I am almost living in apartments and hotels from one to five star. With Malia Star apartments is completelly different kind of story. This small, familly run accomodation and taverna are amazing. There passed over 15 years that I didn't felt that king of hospitality and warmth. Owners, Marina and Dimitris run this place over 30 years with love and passion same like the year they started. Rooms are super cosy and clean, they frequently clean the room and change towels. Beach is 5 minutes walking dostance from location. On check in there's waitinh bottled water, cans of soda and cans of beer as a welcome drink. Those owners don't run this place just because of the money, they run it because they love it. This is their life. And their taverna, you have to try at least one meal. Superfresh food, local groceries growth at the organic garden, fresh seafood, fresh lamb, cheese and rest...you will miss a lot if you don't take at least one meal cooked by Dimitris himself. I am rarely repeater, but this place will be my returning point.

Really friendly and accommodating staff. Nice, clean, comfortable room. Quirt location, within walking distance of shops and beach. Great restaurant too

Unfortunately it would appear that Marina is not following her true vocation in life! She is not friendly, she's extremely passive aggressive and her favourite English expression is that everything is "very inconvenient". She blatantly doesn't check which company the booking has been made through (she tells you that air conditioning is 7 Euro a day, safe key is 10 Euro and City tax is payable - however ALL of this is already included in your booking.com payment). They allocated 3 young females an apartment on the ground floor opening directly onto the road (when they did ask if it is possible to be moved, they were shown another apartment, but then told by Marina that it would be very inconvenient to get the cleaner to clean etc). No mention of how to access the pool offered in the description. When air conditioning queried, she aggressively told them that they had already been given the controller and she wanted to "search' their room (but when she did actually bother to check, she found the controller was still behind her desk in reception) - no apology given for this or that air conditioning was actually included in the booking paid. Overall Marina ruined the experience of staying at Malia Star Apartments, making them feel very uncomfortable, they therefore avoided the restaurant and attempted to avoid seeing Marina at all times. Such a shame when Nikos works so hard and provides such great customer service.
Everything started off so positively. Messages were exchanged with Nikos and he was fantastic, replying promptly and being very helpful. They allowed them to check in early which was a nice touch after arriving very early in the morning. Apartment was clean.

Everything was perfect.
The hosts are super friendly :) Charming people 🥰 The hosts provide you with a comfy transfer with extra payment and tray run a beautiful restaurant just on the spot ☺️

- AC was included in the price, but they asked additional payment for AC. - Room was for 3 people, and the room had 2 chairs. - Lack of storage space - 3rd bed was small and uncomfortable - When we complained about those things, the manager yelled at us - Nearest grocery store is 7,8 minutes away

Marina, thank you very much for being such a gracious host during our time at your apartments from 20th July to 1st August. It was a fantastic experience🙏 Now Creta is in our hearts forever! We appreciate your kindness. Your household was warm and friendly. It was wonderful meeting everyone; they were all such a joy to be around. Thank you so much for the wonderful greeting. Your hubby’s cuisine was incredible! The restaurant is always welcoming;) your apartments were always clean (thanx to Katerina🫶🏻) and very cozy. Overall, it was a great adventure. We’ll never forget these holidays!

I liked everything!
The location was great, it was very close to the beach and to the city centar.The room was clean and comfy.The best about this apartmant are the hosts.They are very kind, welcoming people, and they will help you any time if you need it.I can say just the best about them, this apartmant is my pure and honest recommendation!

We had a wonderful stay here! The hosts are incredibly kind, friendly, and always smiling, which made us feel truly welcome. The accommodation is excellent – peaceful, quiet, and not far from the city center. The restaurant is traditional beautifu and you can really feel the warm, family atmosphere. I would recommend this place to absolutely everyone!
