How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified review- Very close to the center of Kolymvari and on 20minutes car ride to Chania. Also it was on pretty good location to all the famous beaches worth visit. - You have parking space provided. - The swimming pool was a good bonus. - We had new, clean towels everyday. - You have close supermarket and tavernas.
I would not list it like dislike, but it would be nice if there were bathroom curtains, because on every bath we took, the whole toilet was covered with water😆

Verified reviewBasic accomodation for a short stay; there was a kitchen corner and a fridge, a balcony with nice view in the morning. We arrived pretty late in the evening, but the host was waiting for us and let us in.
Too close to a busy road with almost constant noice until late night; a lot of mosquitos and no nets at the balcony door. The shower was miniature and was not possible to attach the shower head to the wall.

Verified reviewLocation is quite good, I am glad we didn't end up in Chania, which is highly overrated and overpriced. There are enough restaurants and shops within 5-10 minute ride (you must have a car), but also a bakery and a small groceries in a walking distance. The beach is accessible within 10 minute walk, too. One with rocks and one with sand a little further, but still close enough. The location is good for exploring Western part of the island including Kissamos, Elafonisi, Falasarna, Chania and, a little further, Rethymno. Room was clean and serviced every second day and was spacious and had a small kitchen annex, but with everything you need to make breakfast or supper, including kitchen utensils. AC worked quiet enough to sleep. Small terrace with chairs, table and clothesline was also a useful addition.
I didn't like the most the fact that shower head was not mounted on the wall and we were forced to hold it. I hate when owners do that. If it's for saving water, it doesn't work, it only makes me take showers longer. Besides that bathroom had everything we needed, water was hot any time of the day. The bed was double indeed, but just enough for 2 people, far from king/queen size. Also very soft, if that matters for you, definitely too soft for my taste or my partner's. WiFi worked well most of the time, but occasionally stopped working for 20-30 minutes. Mobile reception was good (5G), so we could use it as a backup.

Verified reviewWe ate breakfast out every day.
As a swimming pool engineer I found the suction pipes in the deep end of the pool to be uncovered without an antivortex safety cover over. A small child could be sucked onto the pipe and die. In UK the pool would be closed. On the plus side we really enjoyed the spacious pool.

Verified reviewThank you karmi for a very memorable stay. The apartment was immaculately clean , with beautiful pool and breakfast facilities for a small charge. The apartment complex was so quiet at night , which was perfect for me. As a solo traveller, I felt very safe. There was always a member of staff on site. The location was perfect , with the choice of supermarkets close by. The Village of Kolymvari & beach were within walking distance, or you could take the bus , bus stop was across the road, with buses running frequently. I look forward to making many more returns to Karmi Apartments. 😊 Thank you Karmi Báirbre Ireland 🇮🇪

Verified reviewVery basic hotel, good for short stay, location was ok but renting a car is good option if you want to travel around, bus stop is 100 m away - but I was waiting an hour for the bus so if you travel to the airport by bus make sure you have Planty of time to get there.
Coffee and tea in the room would be a good option, doesn’t cost a lot but it makes a difference,. No restaurant in the hotel but there is a nice coffee shop around the corner , Very thin walls so you can hear everything . Very noisy after 22:00- it didn’t help. I only come back to the hotel to sleep, I stayed outside hotel most of the day - if you like not very expensive but limited option it’s ok. The shower was literally above the toilet so water was splashing everywhere

Verified reviewFree wifi working in the room, FRIDGE with small REFRIGIRATOR, very close to the beach, near to the shops when you could buy what you like, POOL at the place <3 open from 10:00 (10 am) to 20:00 (8 pm). Air-conditioning at the room ❤️ We have stayed one extra night and the landlord was very helpful and charged us very little for the extra night 😉 Great location for seeing the west side od the Crete, you nearly have to pass the hotel location to go anywere on this side of the Crete (Falassarna, Balos, Elafonnisi). Higly recommended 😄

Verified reviewPeaceful and quiet location for travelling to nice beaches such as elafonisi, golden sands, falassandra, balos, visiting chania. Cleaned daily. Nice taverna 100m to the left (as you come out of the property and nice bakery about 150 meters to the right . A very interesting monastery about 1km away. The studio room was better than the family room more size for four people to sit around the table and have a chat. Not too hot, good season to visit. Internet was good, free car park. Friendly and helpful staff.
Bear necessities in the little kitchenette. Not enough space for a family of 4. Both family room and studio had enough items for the people staying in so you had to wash your crockery if you needed a plate for something else or a glass for something else .
