I’d rather the bathroom had a shower instead of a bathtub.

It’s close the center of the village and the gardens are beautiful.

Absolutely recommended as a place to stay to visit Knossos, and a view to village life in Crete.

It was a little challenging to find the hotel. Some of that was due to some road repairs in town. All good once you find it and the quiet neighborhood is appreciated.

Beautiful and spacious apartment. Excellent and large Cretan breakfast brought to our room. The owner is friendly and helpful, and the woman who makes the breakfast is very sweet and a good cook. Archanes is a nice quiet town with some lovely tavernas and restaurants. Very close to Knossos archaeological site. The people in the town are super polite and kind.

Just to note: Because it is so peaceful place, you cannot reach it with car: just park your car to Politchnou street and walk up 150-200 m. There are no curtains that could stop the sun in the mornings. Not a cheap place, but overall worth of money.

+ after 4 days of walking, I think this is the best location in Archanes: completely peaceful and silent corner behind a mystical old church, but only 20 m from the main street! + The best restaurants (Spitiko and Filosofos) and excellent bakeries are nearby + apartment is cool even on sunny days + Atmosphere of an old building! You can have a perfect holiday just by sitting in the sofa and terrace + all things in apartment are HQ and good style + Kitchen had everything, even the coffee was best quality! + The guy who brings the keys (you phone him) was very friendly and helpful; he provided fruits and wine (again, wine was excellent!) + nice hiking possibilities, but Heraklion is just a 25 drive min away

It's truly a pleasure to return to this stunning historic hotel nestled in the heart of Archanes. This time, we had the pleasure of staying at the Avra stone house. It was incredibly spacious and tastefully decorated with beautiful furniture and paintings. The cleanliness was impeccable. Moreover, the owner made several enhancements to ensure our comfort: new mattress toppers, updated amenities (we especially enjoyed the cosmetics from Apivita and the espresso machine), and improved lighting. Additionally, we were provided with a private parking slot just a 2-minute walk from the hotel. Michael greeted us there and personally escorted us to the house. He also kindly made a dinner reservation for us at a restaurant. We are already looking forward to returning this summer. Thank you so much for the exceptional hospitality, and we eagerly anticipate our next visit.

Parking and finding the house was a little difficult upon arrival.

Michalis welcomed us and was quick to answer with any questions we had (including the location of a 24-hour clinic right around the corner). Maria delivered delicious, homemade breakfast each morning. We loved its antiques and garden and that it was hidden away.

It's likely a very personal preference, but I found the beds a bit hard to sleep on.

I wish we had booked a whole week here. We thought we'd stay here to go to the vineyards and olive oil tasting places, turned out Archanes is a destination in and of itself made that much better by the amazing Kalimera Village stay. It was a fairytale setting. Michalis was extremely helpful, and Maria cooked an unbelievable breakfast. It's an older property, restored to mimic what it would have been decades ago, so keep that in mind. We also loved the small touches left for us to use (sewing kits, soaps, nail files, etc). I would love nothing more than to come back again and stay here for much longer.

The check in process could be a lot easier with more communication prior to arriving. We got lost and no directions were given. Once we got onto Michael he was quick to come meet us. There were a few amenities missing/not working for our stay and we did not get a response from the host- the heating, TV, one light out in the kitchen, no plug for bath (we are travelling with a baby). We understand it is an old cottage so less creature comforts to be expected but addressing these would make for a more comfortable stay.

Beautiful cottage with a real authentic experience. Great location in the old town and the cottage was so cute! Breakfast each morning delivered by Maria was a real standout. Very peaceful stay and getting lost in the streets of Archanes was a lot of fun.

The upstairs bathroom was unusable our entire 4 day stay. The base of the upstairs toilet leaked all over the bathroom floor the first time we flushed. We contacted Michaelis the next day and asked him to have the upstairs toilet repaired. He said he called 2 plumbers but none were available to do the repair. We left a day early because the upstairs bathroom was flooded and was unsanitary. The living room was dark and had no air conditioning, so we did not use it. Parking was several blocks away next to the town bakery. We had to wheel our luggage several blocks through cobblestone streets.

I liked the upstairs, especially the views from the 3 spacious bedrooms, the comfy beds, and the soft, clean linens. I loved being walking distance from good tavernas and the museum. The people of the village were friendly, and Michaelis recommended good tavernas.
