Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwedenThere could have been more parasols by the pool and it is good to know that the pool area gradually becomes shaded during the afternoons. We therefore chose to spend a lot of time on the beach at that time. It is a three-star hotel so you can't expect everything to be in new condition but if you just keep that in mind you shouldn't be disappointed. We would have liked a slightly better knife in the room for cutting melon etc but otherwise the most important things were there. Then it would have been good if there were nets and racks for table tennis that weren't broken.
We had a great week at Jason hotel. The staff was very nice and helpful. We really felt welcome. The beds were a bit hard but we were helped to get an extra mattress. The rooms were spacious and we had a fantastic view of the sea, the city and the harbour. There was an AC in every room which was really appreciated. The location of the hotel couldn't be much better as it is both very close to the beach and the old town. The pool wasn't very big but with different depths which was positive.

The staff went above and beyond to be helpful and the whole hotel was spotlessly clean. It was quiet but still popular and there was no competition for sun beds. The location couldn't have been better - half way between the beach and the old town and we had a beautiful view from the balcony.

United KingdomThe location is ideal, so close to everything without being in all the noise of the bars. Very spacious rooms with everything you need in an apartment and good aircon. Housekeeping came in everyday whilst we were out, the whole building was very clean and inviting. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a delight, so much choice and very plentiful. you could use the inside tables or sit around the good sized pool. Plenty of sunbeds in and out of the sun and as there wasn’t any music blaring it was so peaceful. I won’t hesitate to book again when I want to be in Rethymno and will recommend to friends too. Well done Harriet and team, thank you x

CanadaAlthough the rooms were extremely spacious and the layout was great for a family they were a few things that required maintenance. Our door had a broken hinge and the shower head did not properly connect to the handle due to a broken part so we had to hold it in one hand while showering. These details would not stop us from rebooking this hotel though. It was excellent value for money.
The location of this hotel is excellent, it is 5 minute walk from the beach and a 10 minute walk into town/the old town. Having a pool and a ping pong table and pool table was a big bonus for the kids. We were able to find parking on the street when we arrived and we didn’t need our car until we left 3 days later.

AustraliaOur experience at Jason Hotel was exceptional, thanks to the outstanding staff who truly went above and beyond. After missing our ferry, they quickly arranged a last-minute transfer with impeccable communication, easing what could have been a stressful situation. Their patience and willingness to help were evident throughout our stay. When I fell ill during the trip, they were incredibly accommodating, arranging for me to stay in different rooms to ensure my friends remained healthy. The level of care and attention we received was unmatched. I can’t recommend Jason Hotel enough for their extraordinary service and dedication to their guests' comfort.

United KingdomThe mattresses were well used; we could feel the springs but I had seen a previous review mentioning asking for mattress toppers so we asked. With the mattress toppers the beds were very comfortable. We had smokers on the balcony next to us - we kept having to close the balcony doors so we didn't get smoked out! Perhaps one side of the building could be non-smoking (although it did seem everyone except us smoked!)
Harriet and team were so helpful; all the staff including the cleaning ladies were friendly and kind. The double glazing was great; very little noise from the small road below us (facing sea). Nice, popular pool area with comfortable loungers and table tennis and a pool table nearby. Room 25, an apartment with separate bedroom, was spacious and big enough for 3 of us, with one sleeping on one of the two couches in living room. We had a harbour view and a long balcony which was perfect for drying towels, etc, on the rack provided. The wifi was great, no issues at all. There was a safe in the wardrobe which didn't cost us extra. Useful hairdryer in the bathroom, which decided to die one day so the reception lady lent us a plug in hairdryer without a moment's hesitation! There are lockers, showers and toilets in the basement, which can be used free of charge on the day you leave if you have a late flight. We were going to use these but decided to pay €40 more to keep the room until 7pm the day of our flight home. Snacks and drinks are available in pool area at lunch time but we didn't try them. What made this apartment perfect for us was the closeness to the marina where a friend lives, so it was 3 minutes walk to visit them. The apartment is also near a corner shop and laundrette and a fabulous patisserie is literally on the other side of the road. Two supermarkets are just under 10 minutes walk away (Sklavenitis and Synka). Less than 5 minutes walk to several good value restaurants, Thraka (souvlaki), Maria's (traditional local), Kokkinos (about 20 types of pizza & traditional local). Kokkinos, in the square, was a favourite. Loads of more expensive restaurants along the seafront, e.g. Downtown, where the food was excellent. There was still nightlife in mid October! We mostly used the buses to get to and from Heraklion airport, pretty easy and about €10 per person each way.
