My family and I stayed at Ilian beach & apartments for 4 nights in August. We were immediately greeted by very friendly staff and they made sure that the room was comfortable for the 3 of us. Our room was very close to the swimming pool and also to the beach. As a hotel, it is very convenient as it is close to all amenities. It also has a small parking area where we could park our car safely. The hotel is about 3km away from Rethymno center. However, the walk is very enjoyable, especially in the evening. There are plenty of restaurants, tourist shops and supermarkets/grocers close by. They open until about 9pm, which made it easier for us. I would definitely stay at the hotel again :) Thank you to all the staff!

The atmosphere of the second week was not so nice due to a large group of people arriving. The first week was much more sedate and enjoyable. All of this is outside of Ilian's control though.

The complex is family run and a lot of pride is taken to keep it in this pristine state. We specifically stayed in this part of Rethymno to be close to where our daughter was staying. It may be a little too far for some, if you are wanting to be closer to town, but for us, it was perfect, with lots of lovely restaurants nearby. Everything you see in the pictures, the beach, the pool, the bar area and the rooms are the same. The family feel is evident throughout and nothing is too much trouble. Thank you Maria for our amazing stay, and to Marius and Ilias for their excellent chocolate milkshakes etc.

Please, put a holder for the shower head in the bathroom. This would make the bathroom so much more comfortable. Our check-in went a bit rusty. Had to wait quite a while for someone to come, turned out they made some mistakes and we had to switch rooms the next day. Not a problem, but not ideal when you arrive at 1 AM. A bit more service and hospitality from the staff would be great.

It's based on the end of the boulevard, which makes it a really quiet place. No roads nearby, no busy streets or restaurants. It's a peaceful place and we enjoyed that very much. The place is spotless and cleaned daily (a bit overkill, but all right). Big kitchen. We didn't cook, but you definitely could. We had apartment 18 (request that one if you can). It's situated near the back of the complex and has a great view instead of facing another apartment. Swimming pool big enough to have fun. You can put your sunbeds on the grass or go to the beach. There are lots of great restaurants and supermarkets nearby and with the car you're in the city centre in about 15 minutes.

Ilias and Maria were very helpful and welcoming. 30-40 mins walk to Old Town although there are plenty of taxis at each end of the beach road - 7/8 Euros

The hotel has very good location - on the end of promenade, direct on beach with own sun beds and umbrellas with low fee. No cars driving over like on other hotels on the promenade, here is but quiet and good air. The sunbeds have much place not like in big hotels near it where sunbeds are very close to each other. The garden and swimming pool area is beautiful and very well maintained. Everything is very clean, they even wash the pavement in the garden. The rooms will be cleaned carefully every day. Free parking space. Friendly staff helping always. The sea view from balcony. The kitchen. Good restaurants nearby, specially "1+1". We are looking forward to stay next time in this hotel.

make sure to bring your own salt, pepper, sugar and oil - or you have to buy big packages locally; coffee and tea and packed sugar sticks have been provided for the first two days, which was already very nice

there are zillions of options on Crete to stay and I've spend quite some time to evaluate - in the end, my mother and I have been more than happy with my choice to stay at Ilian Beach & Apartments 😊 the room as well as the beds are comfortable and big enough for two people - we could sit either on the balcony, which was quite big as well, and look at the sea (side view) or stay inside, since end of September it can get a little chilly in the mornings before or when the sun rises; the kitchen provided all necessary cutlery and for basic cooking, although we preferred to eat out at dinner - there are a few nice restaurants some 5min walking distance; the fridge was really key to have and it wasn't loud at all; everything in the room as well as in the entire hotel area looked new and well maintained! in the reception you can find a large "library" in different languages, so you don't need to bring your own books to read; Maria and her family and staff are super welcoming and make sure that you have the best stay during your holidays! I personally liked as well both the direct access to the beach (in most of the other hotels in that area you have to cross the street / promenade) and on the other hand the distance to downtown / the harbour area (still in walking distance, but far enough to be quite); my mom liked the pool with the free sunbeds and umbrella; for me the free car park within the hotel was a big bonus, because with that I felt safe that the rental car won't get scratches during parking overnight, since streets and parking situations are quite narrow and tight most of the times on Crete;

Fantastic place for moderate price! My family and I had a wonderful vacation there. The hotel was fantastic - not big, but cozy, with very clean territory and a lot of greenery. Beach is not private, but it starts exactly from the hotel territory, and you don’t need additional dresses. Beach is sandy with small stones in the water, so special shoes are recommended. Hotel is in the outskirts of the city, deep into a local suburb, so you will not encounter a lot of people from other hotels on the beach. In approximately 10 to 15 minutes by foot are a big supermarket, a few restaurants, cafés, and bars. If you have a desire to go to the city center you should preferably take a bus (bus stop – in 10 minutes by foot, interval between buses – 15 to 30 minutes) or as an alternative you can also take a taxi. Our room was big enough, with balcony and kitchenette with a fridge, electric stove, cutlery, crockery and other equipment. Girls from room service were quick and polite; they made our room mostly every day (except Sundays).

We had a lovely stay at Ilian Beach Apartments. Maria was friendly and welcoming and the whole place was wonderful maintained. The rooms were cleaned daily and the pool and gardens were beautiful. Plus we were a stone's throw from the beach. Rethymno town was a 40 minute walk along the beach past restaurants and bars, or there's a bus for €1.10. A taxi back at the end of the evening was only €6 and there were plenty around. There was parking on site too for our car for longer trips out. All in all a great place to relax and base to explore the rest of the island.

Still no hook to hang the shower - it's a bit annoying to have to hold it during a shower. During the summer months a parasol on the balcony would be useful especially on the top floor as it's too hot to sit in the sun.. Pillows too high for me but that's personal preference. Nearby hotels have entertainment occasionally, which can be heard.

Perfect location and very clean - right in the beach with lots of bakeries, supermarkets, restaurants nearby. It's about 4km a nice 1 hour walk to Rethymnon, but good buses also available. As we had stayed there twice before, I requested a certain room, which we got. The staff are nice and the cleaners are amazing.

Strangely, they didnt have double bed sheets or a cover, rather single or king single sheets. With a small change in bedding they could really make the place look a million bucks, but kind of looks a bit dated and gives off an old look. WIFI in our apartment wasnt strong

Friendly staff Location was great for those looking to be out of the hustle and bustle of the main strip leading into the old town. But still close enough to drive in quickly. Lovely pool and grass area with direct access to beach. Perfect if wanting to enjoy the beach or stay off the sand and lounge around by the pool Parking available at the location

Right on the beach, nice pool and amazing staff. Really clean and comfortable. Sun beds next to the pool are free, and on the beach 2 with umbrella for 6€ plus 2 water bottles, amazing deal
