Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesOur host was supposed to meet us at the bus stop in Oia but we waited 30 minutes in the hot afternoon sun for her to arrive. There was a miscommunication and our text message didn't go through timely, there are areas of no reception while traveling on the bus. I would recommend sending a text with an expected arrival time before boarding the bus instead of saying, "we are leaving Fira now". It was a challenging beginning to an otherwise lovely stay. Our host was otherwise lovely, gracious and timely with other communications.
Oia has a manic energy to it with the crowds of tourists all crowding to take pictures of the key sights. This is why Elias house was so magical. The patio and view from the windows allows you to have your own slice of privacy to enjoy the best view of the coast. You are down hill looking up at the most famous blue domes. When the hundreds of thousands of tourists are taking pictures of the blue domes, Elias house is in the background! Already it's been a joy to look at pictures online of the blue domes and point to the background and say, "that was my hotel! I drank wine sitting right there!" It the best way to experience Oia in my opinion, just enjoy the view from the patio, crowd free. We ended up getting take away dinners to eat at the house and enjoy the view. Our host was gracious providing snacks like bread, crackers, jam, and a bottle of wine. It was so welcome after a long ferry and bus to get there. The patio is connected to 2 other hotel rooms so you have to walk across their patio to get to Elias house. It meant that the patio is not totally private and if people are sitting out, you can see them. There is a small privacy divider, but it's not much. All the houses are literally smashed on top of each other so it's not a surprise and to be expected almost everywhere. It did not diminish the experience. I was surprised that tourists generally were respectful and we didn't find them crowding around the patio or entrance, even though there isn't a lock on the gate. They stayed on the main paths and didn't venture down to bother our peace. The house is spacious and comfortable. I loved seeing the white coast line from the bathroom. Don't worry, no one can see you in there. We went up the hill to the iconic picture location and zoomed in on the bathroom windows and they are too far away to see anything.

United StatesOur first night was quite warm and we wished for a fan in the living area where our son was sleeping (fans in the loft and bedroom were put to good use and kept us cooler), but he moved out to the patio cushions and fell asleep more comfortably there under the stars--an experience he'll remember more than any bed inside.
Hands down one of the most incredible views we've ever had. This cave house features prominently in iconic postcards, photos, and paintings of Oia, so you know you're in a one-of-a-kind spot. Vasiliki was an extremely kind and gracious hostess, personally meeting us to walk our family to her property (even carrying one of our suitcases for us) and sharing her story of its 14th Century—and possibly earlier!—origins. She arranged transportation to and from the port, provided wine and other refreshments and homemade orange cake, suggested great restaurants, and checked in via WhatsApp several times to ensure we had everything we needed. The apartment is just steps from all the hustle and bustle of Oia yet feels quiet and private. Look left and see all of the town hugging the cliffs to Fira (plus countless tourists struggling to get a glimpse as good as yours), look right and see the castle just a short walk away, and look straight out to the spectacular caldera and endless Aegean vistas. I can't imagine a better location or view in Santorini.

United StatesOur stay at this Santorini cliffside cave house was nothing short of magical. The panoramic views from the balcony, overlooking the entire caldera from the Oia castle to the iconic white houses with blue domes, were absolutely breathtaking. Every window framed a picture-perfect view that surpassed our expectations. The photos simply don't do justice to the beauty of this place. Our host went above and beyond to ensure we had an unforgettable experience. From recommending the best restaurant in Oia to making reservations for us, their hospitality was truly exceptional.Upon arrival, we were greeted with a warm welcome and treated to delicious cake, snacks, and Santorini wine, which added a special touch to our stay. I can't recommend this place highly enough – it's the best accommodation we've ever experienced. Thank you for an unforgettable stay!

United StatesWe loved everything about our stay .
The location is convenient to parking and to popular spots like the castle for sunset viewing, yet it is down enough steps to be away from the high traffic areas, providing privacy on the very comfortable patio. The views from the patio are stunning, unobstructed views of the caldera and iconic views of the houses spilling down the cliffs on either side. The house was extremely clean and comfortable, had a well equipped kitchen and comfortable sleeping accommodations, even extra throw blankets to snuggle up with. Our hostess Vasiliki was kind and helpful, she made our stay that much more memorable.

Easily one of my best top 5 stays in my entire life. Beautiful view and comfortable bedding. Above all, Vasiliki was wonderful host who completely made my day for the whole trip. I got to see her every day along 3 days of my stay and every time I talked to her I felt like I was making my trip even richer than it already was. She helped me out with every part of my stay even when I had a trouble with business circumstances, she readily invited me to a place where I could get my business done. Best host ever. Also I can almost be sure that no other place in Oia can beat this place with view and comfiness at this price. Check my picture for the view I got from this place. If there's a date open for this place during your planned trip, don't hesitate. just book it.

United StatesNot a big deal for us, but be aware there is no shower curtain or curtains on the bathroom windows. However, because of the location, no one can see in the apartment.
We enjoyed everything about this unique place to stay! THE VIEWS from inside and on the patio are AMAZING! We enjoyed lounging on the patio and viewing the caldera and town of Oia. We could see all the way down the caldera edge, to Fira and Akrotiri. It was very quiet and private. Vasiliki is a lovely host and will do anything to make your visit enjoyable. She gave us some inside advice about places to visit and eat. She arranged for our bags to be carried up the day we left. The perfect host!

AustraliaI recently had the privilege of staying at an incredible cave house in Oia, Santorini, and I must say it was an experience that exceeded all expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with breathtaking views that left us in awe, and the entire experience was nothing short of spectacular. The first thing that struck us was the impeccable cleanliness and attention to detail in this cave house. It was evident that the property was meticulously maintained, and every nook and cranny sparkled with cleanliness. The interior was well thought out and tastefully designed, providing a comfortable and cozy atmosphere. It truly felt like a home away from home. One of the most delightful surprises during our stay was the warm welcome we received from our host, Vasiliki. I consider myself a well-traveled person, but I can confidently say that Vasiliki stands out as the nicest and most accommodating host I've ever encountered. Her genuine kindness and hospitality melted our hearts, and her positive energy was infectious. She went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect, and her thoughtfulness was truly appreciated. As if the stunning views and immaculate accommodations weren't enough, Vasiliki surprised us with a thoughtful gesture – a bottle of wine and fresh bread. It was these little touches that made our stay even more memorable. The location of this cave house in Oia is ideal, offering uninterrupted views of the stunning Santorini sunset. It's the perfect spot for a romantic getaway or a tranquil retreat. We found ourselves lost in the beauty of the caldera, and it's a sight we will cherish forever. In conclusion, our stay in this incredible cave house in Oia, Santorini, was nothing short of magical. The views were spectacular, the accommodations were immaculate and well-equipped, and the host, Vasiliki, made our experience unforgettable. We left with our hearts full of gratitude and a

United KingdomNothing, it was perfect.
We stayed for a night in Ellis Cave House and are so glad we did. The house was beautiful and it was in a perfect location. Oia gets busy in the mornings from the cruise ships and in the evenings for the sunset seakers. Lots of people crowding in to tight small spaces. We avoided all of that by staying in Oia and watching the sun rise. Very beautiful, peaceful and calm and the best bit we watched it from the balcony!. Staying in a cave house is a must if you go to Santorini and Ellis Cave House was the perfect example of this. Ellis cave house has stunning views of Oia and the caldera, you can sit on the balcony or lie on the sofa inside with the windows open enjoying the view with a gentle breeze.

the location was perfect and the views amazing. The views from the terrace and every window were stunning, better than from the usual photo hot spots. The private outside terrace got sun all day and had a table, chairs and umbrella. It was surprisingly quiet on the terrace, because it was only metres from the main streets. Inside there was a double bedroom in the original cave dating back to the 1600’s, a large bathroom with views of the sea and the cliffs. The main living area had a kitchen and seating area, with a mezzanine level with 2 single beds (can be double). The host arranged our pick up and drop off which made everything much less stressful in the busy port. The host was available 24 hours day with any questions we had and suggestions on where to go. Top tip - the host can arrange for your luggage to be carried up or down from the house. There are a lot of steps and with the heat we thought it was money well spent.
