Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The mini bar cooler in the room is not adequate to keep beer & wine cold. In all our travels this is the first time we have had a cooler instead of a refrigerator as detailed in booking. com. The plants on the balcony had sadly all died in the pots.
We stayed in room 5 at the top which had many stairs to get to it which may not suit everyone. The room was a reasonable size with a comfy bed and good balcony. The housekeeper was very friendly and the host George was very friendly and helpful.

The room is rather small.
The location is awesome, the facilities (especially the bathroom) were clean and in a good condition and in addition the self-checkin process and communication were outstanding.

You could hear guests walking down the stairs when coming from upstairs but it was only as they passed by quickly.
We loved the property! Giorgos communicates frequently and clearly to ensure everyone has smooth access to the location. They let us store our bags upon an early arrival and after our check out while we explored Chania. The room was comfortable and worked perfectly for us. It’s right in the center of old town with a great location and is still really quiet! Would highly recommend this spot!

Actually we can not say anything bad about our stay or the hotel. If you are very picky and really try to find something, the room we picked and loved with the terrace was on the top floor, like any hotel in Xania there were no elevators and it was difficult to carry bags upstairs. Beside honestly I can not find any other thing even I try to be very picky.
Oh George! We really liked George whom was the host. Although we did not meet with him, he contacted early and provided every information necessary to make your stay perfect and keep constant communication. Check in and check out was flawless. I lived on Crete 10+ years and stayed many times in Chania in different time periods, this one was the by far best experience that I had. Although I knew very well the island and the place, he send many informative documents which I can confirm very useful for a first visitor. Hotel was very nice. We stayed the room with terrace and strongly recommend to pay a little extra and enjoy the space provided. Hotel was clean, it was newly renovated, new tech were installed (no old noisy AC s etc.) the location was perfect, although it does not see the port, it is literally middle in the old town which everywhere was max 5 mins. In this trip we visited 3 hotel, best performance/value hotel that we experienced. As I mentioned for me it was the best for 10+ years visiting Xania.

Enjoyed every moment there.
The location in the old town is great. 5-10 mins walking distance from all the hotspots and very calm at night. The owner is very helpful and decent. He is very responsive via WhatsApp, offering excellent and detailed recommendations.

Giorgos was readily available and responsive throughout our stay, always just a message away. He kindly shared some helpful local recommendations, and when we experienced an issue with the room key upon arrival, he promptly assisted us via text.

We were in the very top apartment and the only way to get to it… oh the stairs 😱 especially getting your cases up there! Would not recommend that the elderly or infirm book this as there is no lift…
The apartment is immaculate and the shower, wow, such a “refreshing” change lol. Perfectly positioned in the old town but very close to the harbour, wonderful.

Very clean and nicely decorated. We had a top floor room with a wonderful patio to relax on. Out the front door are nice shops and restaurants. Walk to everywhere in old town and harbor, even beaches. Great communication with the owner.
