Beautiful location just steps from the beach, with a lovely view . The house was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed including a well-equipped kitchen. Shops are close by, Wi-Fi worked well, and the host was helpful. We had a great time and would happily return.

Bed in main bedroom should be really changed - it's ok to sleep for one adult person but for sure not comfortable for two even small enough size adults..

It's on a VERY steep hill so walking down and back up from the beach is quite a challenge. The beds were a bit too firm for us.

Modern well equipped accommodation. Great location with fantastic sea and mountain views. Private parking close by which is great because on busy days it's hard to find a space anywhere. Very clean and well maintained. Close to shops, bars and lovely restaurants and tavernas. Very helpful friendly staff who responded quickly to any queries. Mosquito screens on doors and windows so it was good to be able to leave windows and door open for fresh air. Some children's beach toys were provided and a couple of beach parasols (which we would have used if we had spotted them sooner because sunbeds and parasols were very expensive here). We spent a lovely three days in this apartment and we were sorry to leave. I would definitely stay here again.

The location is not the easiest to find (so be sure to get clear instructions prior to arriving), There is also NO address (which is very common for houses in Crete) to type into your Google Maps. A few guests have complained about the beds being too hard (but it's all relative, I like hard beds!) as well as the sewer smell from the bathroom (which I don't think is the owner's fault, as I've stayed in luxury hotels elsewhere with the same smell) and thankfully the smell is not constant either. We thankfully did not encounter ants during the summer (inside the house) but be sure to put sweet stuff away (in the refrigerator). The refrigerator seems a bit too large for the frame so be sure to close properly if you want your things to stay cold. There is no A/C in the living room, but there are in the bedrooms. Oh and there may be noise from the nearby dance club but it's not obnoxiously loud (and they get done by midnight usually!).

The location is great! It is a bit challenging to find, so be sure to contact the host Elena prior to your arrival so that she can send you a picture of what the front door looks like. Hint: you have to drive in about 5 minutes into Bali, it's not near the entrance to the village; turn right into a very steep downhill and (if you're driving), car park is a little bit down further to the right. If you arrive in the afternoon, CALL (don't SMS!) the number on your reservation info to speak with someone to let you into the unit. Otherwise, the nice lady who's on duty at the Aitidis Travel desk can check you into your apartment. The view of the Varkotopos Beach from the large balcony/deck (where you would come in and out of your apartment) is amazing - you can also walk down the hill (about 5 minutes) to the beach front, filled with good restaurants/bars. Sunbeds available for rent (from those restaurants/bars) 10 euros/day. There are two mini-marts about 2-3 minute walk away - the bigger supermarket is 15 minute walk away (or just drive to it, if it's easier). If you want a full-blown supermarket a la Lidl, you will have to leave the village and drive towards Rethymno (about 35 minutes drive away). We don't feel this part of the beach is too rowdy, unlike the Livadi Beach (which is closer to the entrance to the village) Apartment was large enough (we got the larger unit) for 4 people, 1 master bedroom with a queen size bed and drawers/closets, another smaller bedroom with 2 single beds, and a sofa bed in the living room. The 1 bathroom is relatively large with a bath tub, a sink and a washing machine inside. (I don't think this is in the pictures). Being in Greece, you can just dry your clothes out on the balcony on a provided clothes drying rack, and they dry beautifully within one afternoon. The kitchen is also large enough. Location was perfect, 1 minute to beautiful Bali beach and restaurants, max 15 mins walk to the 3 other nearby beaches including the Old Port (7mins walk). Apartment was cool , well equipped with very comfortable beds. The hostess Elena was so responsive to our multiple queries, and when my son had an severe allergic reaction she provided free transport to and from an excellent doctor. I have no hesitation in recommending this self- catering accommodation. This was my first taste of Greece and all I want to do is go back!

The owner Elena is very friendly and we've got all we need. We've got even BBQ to make our own grill. Nice flowers on the big terrace and a big table to take a portion of food and drinks.

The drains in the bathroom were a bit smelly and the water was slow to drain away. A small but valuable improvement would be to provide salt and cooking oil

Excellent location and friendly hosts. The property is basic but clean. The patio was just fabulous with incredible views over the beach and the mountains - a real highlight for the property. The beach was 2 minutes walk with beautiful clear waters. The property is good value for money. The hosts allowed us a late checkout as the property was not rented on our check out day, which was very much appreciated. The supermarkets close by are basic but functional and have great opening hours. We went mid April so the restaurants and bars close by weren't open, but they were in the harbour - which was only a 10 min walk. There was a takeaway which stayed open until 1am - a welcome treat after a long day out. Absolutely loved the Island and such friendly people. There was so much to do. I would recommend hiring a car to make the most of your stay and experience the best of Crete.

The walk uphill from the beach felt like climbing Everest. The beaches were very crowded in mid-September, but it was very safe swimming.

The view from the terrace was outstanding and the outdoor furniture was very comfortable. The beds were comfortable and there are 2 restaurants within a few minutes' walk.

Avoid this apartment if you don’t tolerate heat and if you want good internet. It has only one a/c in the living room, and no a/c in the two bedrooms… The Wi-Fi is not working at all from time to time. The lady who is there is not really helpful if you need something. The owner on the other side is very helpful, answers quickly and accurately, if you text him, but it’s not there.

The location of the apartment is fantastic, just a few steps from Bali beach. The sea view from the terrace overlooking Bali is magnificent. Big parking!!! Something very valuable in the narrow streets of this village.

Here are a few points I wish I knew before we booked: it is NOT a full house. It is a small, dark apartment, with another apartment next to it. The balcony is beautiful, but shared by both apartments, with only one entrance- leaving no privacy. All the windows and doors are facing the balcony, so if you don't want to be looked at, you must keep the shades down, and the apartment get stuffed and smelly. The bathroom vent is very poor and the shower head is broken. We never met the owner, only the person who works at the travel agency right outside, but this person came in and out of the balcony a few times each day. We left in the middle of our booked stay.

The place is clean and the kitchen is very well equipped. The balcony is beautiful. The price is not high.
