Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceOverpriced breakfast if not included in the reservation. Some mosquitoes around.
Hotel (the only one?) located in the charming village of arolithos, worth spending a couple of nights there. Room is basic but is clean and comfortable. Quiet there. Reasonably priced. Nice restaurant next to the place (part of the hotel I believe).

AustraliaA lot of stone stairs to negotiate but OK. Basic facilities but we knew that. The bed was very hard and low to the ground.
Simple room with traditional features and a balcony looking towards Heraklion…pretty at night. Kind and helpful staff. We were lucky enough to be there for a wonderful evening show of song and dance. Lovely rooms to see near the museum of how a traditional house would look. Very interesting.

CyprusNo WiFi in rooms and ethernet does not work either. Poor phone signal too. Pool not 100% clean. Airconditioning didn't work very well. A but too much noise at night with all the weddings and baptisms.
Pool is beautiful, especially at night. The breakfast space in the shade of the trees with the amazing view is fantastic. The hotel is constructed like a small traditional village which gives it this delightful rustic feel. Perfect for getting away from it all.

United KingdomFor some reason we believed that there would be some workshops and live music.
It felt authentic yet modern. It offered amazing views over the city and the bay. It was very very quiet though. Kids had a wonderful time and the pool was busy till 11pm- multilingual shouting and lots of laughter.

United StatesIn all of Greece you cannot put toilet paper in the toilet. There's a lidded trash can for that purpose. Takes some getting used to.
Atmosphere! Built to imitate a village, and each Sunday and Tuesday they re-create traditional village life for a busload of visitors, and we enjoyed observing the activity Sunday morning. Good food each breakfast, also dinner, and one evening we shared the best cheese-stuffed peppers appetizer! The pool was lovely though we didn't take time for swimming while there. The view from the eating patio is lovely, shaded by trees, so nice to stay there for several days as we visited Crete.

GermanyWe booked Arolithos Traditional Village Hotel in Crete for 4 nights stay. We can't recommend this Hotel. Firstly we couldn’t sleep well because they had parties/ events for 2 nights in row with very loud music until 4am, even though the hours of silence in Greece are from 22:00 to 7:30. We have measured the noice inside the room at 4pm, it was over 60 dB. We booked here to take a rest but then we couldn’t even sleep!!! Secondly there is no wifi in the room. They said there is only wifi in public areas, but the wifi in the area next to the pool barely works. The only area where the wifi works is the restaurant. Thirdly the bathroom and room floor are dirty. There are no slippers, so that we have to keep wearing shoes all the time inside to room. Lastly we booked the taxi from the hotel at 4am to the airport. The reception person said that she would arrange it for us. Then we have waited for 30m but the taxi didn’t come. We tried to call the emergency number of the hotel but no one answered. What a service here!
The Restaurant was good, affordable, with large portions. Breakfast is also good for the Price, with generous portions. The Outdoor area is beautiful, and the pool is clean. Restaurant staff is friendly.

AustraliaThe room was old and in need of maintenance, the shower was broken and there was mould in the shower. The bed was hard as a rock. There was no hairdryer which was in the listing.
The location of the property in the old village, the swimming pool and the little taverna was the only highlight.

United StatesWe arrived at the same time as a large group. We were wandering around looking at the beautiful property and came to a snack/wine table. We were offered a glass of wine. The service in Greece has been amazing and it never occurred to me this was for the group only. Hubby and i went to the cafe' to get dinner and one of the staff said "the wine was not for you." We ordered food which took forever to come out. I am not an obnoxious American, i can be very patient. Europe enjoys lingering around the table, and i get that. The food in Greece has been amazing but my food came out cold and was just not good. The room had charming rustic furniture but i believe the floor would have been more comfortable. The next morning we walked back to the cafe to look for coffee as there was none in the room. There was a breakfast spread being put out and as we got coffee a staff member said "you did not pay for breakfast." We weren't offered the chance to, nor were we asked if we'd like to sit and order anything. We felt like we were "shooed" out. We went back to the room, packed and left.
Absolutely gorgeous property 10 -15 minutes from airport . You are in the Crete countryside in an agricultural area. Feels authentic and has gorgeous flowering plants, and fruiting trees. There is a little store, museum, nice pool, and art studio on the property.

AustraliaThere were too many cats that didnt leave you alone while eating. Some jumped on the table. The bed linen moved and came away from the bed while sleeping. I made my bed 4 times during the night. Bed was uncomfortable. My room was musty. Far too many stairs to get to the room. Very poor lighting in room. No hot water for evening shower. The aircon did not cool the room.
The pool was fabulous! One of the best I have found. Location on hilltop, and view over Heraklion were spectacular.

RomaniaThe room was superficially cleaned but that was not the issue. We left the windows open to go for dinner and when we went back into the room there were around 30-40 mosquitos waiting to have theirs. And they did, especially on our 1 year old. They definitely need mosquitos nets. It is one of those cases when just with a little effort you can have a huge positive difference. Hopefully they'll do it.

New ZealandLoved this place. Great location close to heraklion but also rural. The old village style of the hotel felt authentic even though it's not, the outside restaurant seating area with views under the trees was stunning.Great food. Most of all I loved the fact that we were made to feel very welcome, Chris and Georges in the restaurant were particularly attentive, chatting to us and answering all our questions. Oh and not forgetting the cats, dog, goats and parrot.

United KingdomRhe pool had green algae in. Which is a shame as I the pool and sunbed area is lovely. Maybe because it was October the pool wasn't working? The bathroom is very outdated and needs replacing modernization. But the rooms were cleaned every day. I asked for a room that doesn't have many steps and we didn't get the room but the balcony was massive. There are lots of steps.
Staff lovely. Food lovely. Views amazing. There is an outside bar area. With lots of tables for outdoor dining. The village experience is very interesting. The staff are very helpful especially George, bar tender, Christina, bar tender and George reception. My husband fell
