Amalia Hotel in Olympia is more than just accommodation – it is an experience in itself, a place that combines classical Greek elegance with the serenity of a landscape that feels as if it were taken out of mythology. Surrounded by lush gardens and peaceful views, the hotel offers an oasis of calm after visiting the nearby historic sites. The rooms are spacious, bright, and tastefully decorated in a simple yet refined style, creating an immediate sense of comfort as soon as you step inside. The balconies open toward the quietness of nature, and the sunrise here has a special charm, as if time flows more slowly. The hotel staff is truly admirable. From the reception, where we were welcomed with kindness and professionalism, to the restaurant team, every employee made us feel both valued and genuinely cared for. Their heartfelt hospitality perfectly complements the warm atmosphere of the place. The hotel restaurant offers a varied menu inspired by Mediterranean cuisine, and our dining experience was absolutely delightful. We enjoyed a memorable dinner in a wonderful setting, where every detail – from the authentic flavors to the impeccable service – was thoughtfully prepared. We felt privileged, and we sincerely thank the entire restaurant team for the professional way they treated us. The outdoor pool, surrounded by greenery, adds an extra touch of relaxation, while the overall atmosphere of the hotel makes you feel like a welcome guest in a large and friendly home, rather than just a tourist in a lodging facility. Amalia Hotel successfully blends modern comfort with the subtle fragrance of Olympia’s history, offering each guest the chance to live an authentic, serene, and unforgettable experience. It is a place you leave with difficulty, but one you are happy to know you will return to.

    Everything was good

We planned a last minute trip to Olympia and this hotel was so so fab. Kind of surprised with how lovely it was, loved the 70’s vibes (done well), friendly staff, comfortable rooms with nice complimentary wine, great breakfast buffet (the dinner buffet for €20 was also great) and the pool was wonderful. Highly recommend.

The breakfast is excellent but it would be helpful to provide TRAYS which would eliminate the necessity for many journeys to and from the buffet.

I have stayed in many hotels over the years and I can say that the staff here were the kindest, nicest and most helpful staff I have ever met. Full marks to them. I also liked the pool, which is quiet during the hottest times of the day. The grand, airy public spaces of the hotel eg the vast entrance foyer, the dining room and terrace give the place a kind of 1960s faded glamour - and I mean that as a compliment.

There were only a few details that could be improved. The pool lifeguard could be a bit more attentive during his shift. While we were happy to see the plants being cared for, the spraying was done during the day while it was windy, and some of the mist may have reached the pool area – it would be better if this could be scheduled in the evening. In our bathroom, we noticed that there was no soap provided, something small that could have easily been checked beforehand. These are minor issues, but worth addressing for an even better guest experience.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Amalia Hotel. The spaces of the hotel are beautiful, spacious, and reflect the kind of architecture we personally appreciate. Having stayed in other Amalia Hotels across Greece, we knew to expect a certain standard – and this location met it. The atmosphere was simple yet very comfortable, with a pleasant fragrance throughout the premises. The staff, at every level, were exceptionally polite and welcoming. Cleanliness was impeccable across the hotel, and the pool was impressively large. We also appreciated thoughtful touches, such as the care of the gardens and the fact that plants were watered regularly. The buffet was quite good, and breakfast had everything we needed for a satisfying start to the day.

It’s a little bit old which you notice by small things like broken hairdryer, shower curtain and blankets.

    No negative.

It’s a beautiful hotel with nice scenery. The rooms are very spacious. We had a balcony also. There was an awesome dinner buffet for $20. There was a huge selection of vegetables, pasta, salads and desserts. The morning breakfast items had huge selection. Totally impressed with Amalia hospitality. Enjoyed our stay. The hotel was very close to the main Archeological sites and museum.

Amalia is a hotel chain in Greece. The hotel in Olympia was certainly once one of the flagships. But that was forty or fifty years ago. Nevertheless, everything is very well maintained. The architecture is spacious and there is a huge, very cold pool. But you can't overlook the fact that the hotel urgently needs a thorough renovation. The staff were extremely friendly. The breakfast corresponds to the quality of the hotel, which is mainly used by coaches from 5 pm. The buses also leave again between 7 and 8, which is when it gets noisy in the corridors. You can walk to the ancient part or drive a few minutes by car and park there free of charge.

The hotel is very old and the rooms especially need an upgrade. The hotel is mostly used by big groups coming on tours/excursions. The food at the restaurant, both for dinner and breakfast, was very low quality. Dinner food was tasteless, and it was like re-heated food from the day before. It is better to find a dining option outside the hotel. Breakfast was just OK, but nothing special. The toilet in the room smelled a lot like cigarrete in the morning, probably from someone smoking in an adjacent room. Overall, it is a hotel to spend the night and move on with your itinerary, but I would not spend my holidays here.

The staff at the reception and the restaurant were very kind, polite, and attentive. The rooms are big, spacious and very clean. The location is very close to the archaeological site of ancient Olympia.
