It could have been a bit cleaner in restaurant but minor things. The green glow of the fire exit light on the ceiling over one of the bunk beds was a little of putting but great if your kids like a night light.

Loved the style of the property and the surrounding area, we have a young family of kids between 5 and 11 years old and they loved it and asked to come back. Lots of activities with national trust outside and pool and table tennis inside as well as board games.

Although my expectations were not high considering the excellent low price for 7 patrons, I felt perhaps it could do with a deep clean every now and then around the bedrooms and shower/toilet room windows etc, but the actual beds, showers and toilets were clean and acceptable.

Loved the location, the price, the games room and the breakfast.

Wonderful property and surroundings. National Trust building and Youth Hostel all in one. You have a bar and a dining room or you can use the self-catering. There is a games room lounge lots of places to go for walks including the Dovedale Stepping Stones. It really is a lovely place to visit. You can hike up to Thorpe Cloud the mountain with a flat top. All the staff were so friendly and the other people staying there all seemed really nice. We had a great trip to Alton Towers, Thor's cave, Wetton, we'd also have liked to do the bike ride on the Manifold valley, we'll be back! Pool is £1 per game. Shared bathrooms are fine, they have individual lockable showers, bring your flip flops/shower sliders!

Room gets a bit too warm at night time. There is no mobile signal and the wi fi doesn't always work (not necessarily a bad thing though)

Spectacular hostel in a beautiful location. Absolutely worthy for the beauty of the beauty of the venue, the outdoor spaces and the amount of services provided.

The staff, especially the lady(with Lon hairstyle)who has answered my call and checked in was soo polite and perfect person for her job. It has everything you need, the hostel makes you feel like you are in a castle/palace by the looks of it, a big ground with benches and the river next to it, parking very easy just 5 minutes walk and it costs £5 for a day.

Doors to room 101, and to the toilets were a bit wonky/noisy to close.

Absolutely stunning location; we picked wild blackberries in abundance, the church is spectacular and dates from 1115…! The grounds are beyond gorgeous-it is breathtakingly beautiful here.

As usual the internet signal isn't great and no TV but okay I suppose if you want to escape for a short stay. I'm not too keen on double decker bunk beds in the dorms, fortunately mine was less than half full so okay on this occasion.

I liked the one night stay as a single traveller in a dorm at an unbelievably low cost in a really nice location. The YHA is very relaxing and the facilities are really good too. The self catering kitchen has everything you need providing you bring your own consumables and you can make yourself anything from just a cup of tea right up to a proper meal, alternatively there's a really good restaurant for breakfast or evening meal.
