The wifi didn't reach our room, but its probably unavoidable in the rirual location and such a large property

Beautiful location and excellent value for money. Our room had a private shower which was an unexpected bonus and brilliant for my son

The barn smell at some places in the hostel but I guess it’s part of the nature .

I was reluctant to book in the hostel first as I thought we will have to share the toilet . But latter I realised that I can book en-suite as well if there is availability. I am so glad I found this place . Strolling in the gardens of the Hall it felt like I am walking back in time . I was having the Jane Eyre- ish feeling . The village and the Hall were so picturesque. The walking tracks were quite close as well . The receptionist lady was cheerful and cooperative . Gave us a thorough tour though our stay was one night only . Room was clean and the mattress very comfy for my tired back . The shared kitchen was empty so it was quite easy for us to warm our dinner and eat in dining room . The cafe staff was again amazing . My daughter broke a glass but the polite cafe guy didn’t charge us . Overall I would love to come back again if I will have any chance .

    Na

The staff was amazing and welcoming, epecially Rachel who showed us around. The hotel has it's unique vibe and architecture. Around it there are many areas where you can chill out. The scenery includes grassy green hills, chirping birds, rustling trees and stony cottages. There's a library with comfy sofas, play area for children, self catering kitchen and also outside garden chess set and other games too. For those who like active holidays, there's many hiking routes with stunning views and local pubs to enjoy yummy food.

I actually took a sharp intake of breath when I saw the hostel as we drove up; it is so beautiful! There was an amazing welcoming family atmosphere, and although this booking was just a little stopover for us, having been to Alton Towers, I wish we'd had longer to stay and explore the beautiful area. Hopefully we will be back!

Check in closes at 10 pm. But they stayed upto 10:15 to complete check in. But would be better if check in time is extended upto 11 pm or 12, especially if we are coming from far away.

Excellent location, clean rooms, good set up, value for money, helpful host.

Shared kitchen was just OK, needed a good deep clean.

We where a family of 5, three young children. We where given a room to our self. The building and gardens are beautiful. Staff on arrival was super friendly. Room was basic, some bunk beds and some single beds (which i was expecting), room was clean, nice fresh white bedding and a small sink in the room. Share shower and toilet was OK. Free parking. We only stayed for one night and uses the shared kitchen which was OK. Would strongly recommend.

Have stayed here several times at different times of the year and it never fails. Loads of facilities for young travellers. Good location for a 10 min walk into Hartington, hilly but a nice walk. Staff excellent as usual and knowledgeable. We stayed in a triple room as wanted to have a private bathroom, shower was excellent and warm. Beds although bunk beds where very comfortable and clean fresh sheets. You do need to bring your own towel but can hire one if you wish. Loads of outside space and games ext, beer reasonable priced.

The size of the kitchen is a bit small for the number of people. No washing machine, but a drying room (very effective)

The place, the house is amazing. Possibility if you are early enough to book tents bungalows ( kind of) .. not only rooms. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is great - we had one time dinner and one time dessert. It is close to the center of the village ( 2 small groceries). A lot of hikes around.

Amazing location, essential info needs communication

The one criticism and suggestion for improvements is in the communication from staff, about finding your room, the shower or bathroom, and what facilities are available, the self-catering kitchen, and walking maps, etc. I found I had to call upon staff to help me. Very little had been explained when I checked in, if it's too much for staff to explain that all I would suggest they have a welcome letter, they give to guests or a clear sign with information up on a wall explaining where everything is to save confusion and stress..

I love the location, the beautiful surroundings. The House itself is Spectacular and very impressive. The beds were clean and comfy. Staff were polite and friendly. There was a self-catering kitchen on site and plenty of toilets around the whole building. There was also plenty of space to relax downstairs. I would love to come back again and maybe bring family.

Room (at top of house) was stuffy and too hot. Long wait for service at dinner but that would be explained by an excessive demand at the time.

Country house atmosphere. Very helpful staff. Well organised.
