Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomCottage in a rural location, suitable for 3 people, and a dog (there was a dog bed provided if necessary!). Good walking and lots of other attractions fairly near. A few of which we visited, Manchester Museum , RHS Garden Bridgewater, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Hepworth Gallery, National Science and Media Museum.

BrazilThe single bed was a little uncomfortable. Also would have appreciated some basics like coffee, sugar, maybe some olive oil? There werenjust a few tea bags.
The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. They were just next door so anything we needed we could just give them a shout. The cottage is locat3d in a beiatiful.part of Slaithwaite with glorious views and it was lovely to sit on the patio in the evening watching the sunset.

United KingdomWe are always okay with paying for our dog to join us, but wish this could have been included in the booking price rather than £25 cash on arrival. A personal preference. As others have said, the kitchen utensils, pots, pans etc could do with a bit of an update but we managed to make several meals so it was all okay. A pint of milk in the fridge would have made a cuppa on arrival possible. We brought the basics plus salt, pepper, ketchup and olive oil with us, but sadly forgot milk.
We liked the location although it wasn’t possible to walk into Slaithwaite because the roads were too narrow/didn’t have pavements. The cottage suited our three adult and one dog party well and, as others have said, the beds were comfortable and it was good to be able to park right outside, even if turning the car around was a bit of a challenge. The host was very welcoming to us all including the dog.

Charming old cottage in very quiet location but still close to village. Hosts were delightful and helpful. If you like horses, Silver and Troy will be happy to take any spare apples off your hands!

United KingdomWe found it to be a little bit cold, especially in the mornings. I can imagine it's lovely and cool in summer, and really cosy in winter when you'll have the open fire burning most of the time - but in the "crossover" (we went in April) it was tricky to get the balance right. Not a major problem though, just wear a jumper!
Fantastic location, great character, really welcoming hosts, dog-friendly. Everything we needed for a few nights away.

United KingdomCentral heating had to be used by a log fire which you had to fire up for heating property. Couch could do with changing.
Location was very quiet. Cosy cottage. Clean for a old place.

United KingdomUnfortunately interior was very dated. Had to clean items before I could use them. Downstairs of the property had a terrible Damp/musty smell and didn’t feel comfortable sitting there. The Time I spent in the property was spent upstairs as just felt very dirty sitting on the sofa and the smell was very unpleasant.
Location was beautiful

United KingdomA minor thing only - no sharp knives in the kitchen for food prep.
The cottage was lovely and cosy. Beds were so comfy. The setting was tranquil and we got a lovely welcome. If you're looking for a few days away from the hubbub, this cottage is perfect.

United KingdomThere's nothing we didn't like, loved everything about the place!
What can we say, we loved our 2 day stay! Your left alone to do whatever you want to do, within reason obviously but if you did need anything they was only round the corner! The Open fire was amazing! Hot shower & bath! Can go feed the horses which is less than 100yards away, park your car right outside the cottage! Endless scenery! Seen wild deers on the property which we loved! Town is just a 5 minute drive away! Would highly recommend!

United KingdomSadly lacked a welcome basket. Would've been nice to find a small basket of fresh local produce such as cake, biscuits etc even a bottle of wine would be a nice touch.
Lovely location. Brilliant area for walking and hiking with or without dogs. Owners and managers very pleasant and friendly. Very receptive of our small dog and provided a simple bed and bowls for his use. Comfortable property for our two night stay. Bedrooms were very bright and airy and all very clean and comfy. The open fire in the lounge was well stocked with coal and wood and made for a very cosy warm evening.

United KingdomVery dated throughout could do with a new set of cutlery, glasses, plates etc as well as the sofa being very old and worn and dirty in places. Again towels provided were very old, glad I took my own as well. The cottage also smelt of dogs. The website said there would be tea, bread, egg’s provided but there wasn’t anything.
fantastic location. very private lots of great walks on the doorstep. Lots of logs provided for the fire, host was very friendly.

United KingdomThere were cobwebs in some areas and the place wasn’t 100% clean but it was clean enough to be satisfied with, I am aware there was something wrong with the listing but was only told when I arrived. The property said it had a BBQ and we brought food for the BBQ and when we arrived we were told there wasn’t one and that it wasn’t listed on the property but it was so that was slightly annoying but it’s okay.
Nice little location & easy to access. Nice area to park in and plenty of places to explore near by. Plenty of space inside. All the correct appliances to cook and clean. I really liked the fire place.
